Very relevant! It will be great to test it wayland and nvidia 555 in a few weeks
I watched your stream and took the time using some of the commands you did. Used nobara until now and i like it mostly but it has quirks and rather go original now.

I tried Nobara on my side too and felt the same thing. I feel in the end " the least forks the better ".
Arch: NVIDIA 500.78 EndeavourOS: NVIDIA 500.76 Manjaro: NVIDIA 500.67 CachyOS: ??? I use Arch + nvidia-dkms
Subscribed, because we need more like you to try different distro for gaming!

@A1RM4X please keep more approach from newbie / new to Linux perspective so new user can understand, and always using gaming (steam) / content creation (obs) as benchmark tool.
So you say in 3 weeks wayland will improve for Nvidia graphics cards and AMD? Nvidia drivers 555 version and the explicit sync fix. Cause in that Fedora live stream you had to use x11 to get things playing well. Thanks for explaining...

Wayland on AMD cards is really good, have tested on multiple distros, fedora included with a 7900xt. build= 12700k 7900xt 32gb 3600mhz, have also tested with a 3070 with the same setup mostly good but some hiccups

Wayland on AMD is very good indeed as @DefCantGame says. It's not perfect, but I use my RX 6700 XT under Wayland just like A1RM4X uses his 4090 under X11. I game on it, I work on it and it works even better than X11. Latency in games is equal and even better compared to X11, and what's most important, the desktop animations are very smooth and good lookin while on X11 it feels a bit laggy.

@@DefCantGame Well about 2 years ago I was trying to get into Linux but got a bad impression. Have a RTX 3060 Laptop ASUS A15, I tried Fedora and Ubuntu.... Wayland was all laggy then used X11.... it ran but inefficient, laptop fans on all the time; Win11 ran better. But I tried again and it has improved in the Linux world. I also have mixed feelings with multimonitor support. I have a 7800x3d with 7800xt and running Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. I have 2 monitors 165Hz and 60Hz. I tried to run this game tanki online; but with firefox getting 165fps but with (chrome, vivaldi, opera)=60Hz. I also tried running that online gpu stress test same results. Now if I just have the 165Hz monitor running, I get 165 fps in Chrome. So I figure firefox is doing something proper to detech, but chrome isn't? Sort of sucks, so for now I just don't hook up the 60Hz 4k monitor. I hope things improve for this multimonitors and this explicity sync stuff.

@@Ud4cznik Ya, you are right. I use a 7800xt, I reason I bought an AMD gpu is I knew in the future if I ran Linux it will work good compared to Nvidia. But I read Nvidia wayland is improving, so in 3 weeks suppose to be fixed. The developer for open source Nvidia drivers Nouveau is working at Nvidia Linux support so that is positive.

@@cybernit3 Are you happy with the 7800XT? How is it doing? Recently I've built a computer with that card for a friend of mine. The white Sapphire version looks beautiful.
Love Fedora, works so perfect. Greatings.

I tried Fedora already twice I think and haven't gotten interesting performances. I'm always going back to Tumbleweed, but still haven't found a distro where I can play Halo Infinite through Steam without lags. I have a MSI G75 Stealth laptop with a RTX 2060 and using a docking station (I don't know if this docking station ruins it all)

@@A1RM4X and how do you compare fedora with opensuse tumbleweed in case of gaming performance
For a year now I just refuse to use X11. Wayland hurts sometimes, true, but its getting better. Just keep submitting bug reports. Redhat is ditching X11 development, why do you think they wanted their upstream to get rid of it. I just wish they would fix wayland with nvidia, because multiple monitors suck with X11.
@DefCantGame
Ай бұрын
Getting rid of it cause less secure and likely to have more narrowed down focus instead of splitting things up between wayland and x11, but most importantly the security concerns of x11 can be more than enough to influence the departure
Honnêtement, j'utilise Endeavouros et j'en suis très satisfait. Vous pensez que cela vaut la peine de passer à Fedora et de le tester ?

Thats exactly what it is. On 4 completely different systems I have tested Fedora in the past, and every time something weird went wrong. I know "something weird" isnt a proper bug report but at some point I have to give in and just get to work with my system, don't have time to fiddle around. So back to Tumbleweed I went. Rock solid since 2021, never failed. Fedora devs, like Gnome devs, have a certain "we know whats best for you" attitude that I don't like as well, I might add. Fedora dev: "You dont need that feature" Me: "Y .. yes I do?" Fedora dev: "No you don't, use this instead, this will be the future, trust me bro" Me: "But ..." Fedora dev: "STOP IT!"

@@davidddo Example referring to the not so imaginary dialog? :) X11. When I use Wayland on KDE, my desktop icons get shuffled around randomly, when I switch off my monitor or change inputs. This is on very un-fancy hardware, just using an Intel 11th ten iGPU. Hence I need X11, probably until it dies off completely. If you were referring to what I think about Gnome: I would rather not have to negotiate and debate over the ability to do basic tasks like minimizing my work windows. Adding to my previous post: Fedora devs have the tendency of wanting to define the future of Linux, and a one-size-fits-all standard. Hence, Gnome and Fedora are a perfect match lol I do not like that personally. If I wanted to be treated from the top down, I'd use MacOS. Comes down to this: I know its still Linux and I could mod and hack it until it works the way I want - kinda. But - I don't want that. I just use the distro that creates a minimum amount of additional workload and in my case, that is OpenSuse.

@@SpicysaucedHD well, i agree about gnome, but in my opinion fedora is the future at the moment. Linux needs a company to pull it forward and some controversial decisions will be made along the way. If linux stays solely controlled by small teams, we aren't going to get the features and compatibility for hardware, anticheats for games, exposure and mainstream coverage
@SpicysaucedHD

@@davidddo Only Fedora thinks Fedora is the future as far as I can see :) "Linux needs a company" Thats the last thing Linux needs. I was of your opinion when I started using Linux full time, but since then, I have revised this opinion. I asked myself why I started using Linux in the first place, and that was to *get away* from companies, their agendas, their shareholder oriented business and business in general. I wont try to missionize here, you have the right to have your opinion of course. But again, imo, a or several companies steamrolling over those small teams, replacing who and what drives Linux forward, hence business-ifying desktop Linux, is the worst that could happen. Companies are free to contribute, like AMD or Intel or Valve are doing, but please, no Apple-like wannabe-know-all white knight company should dare attempt to "save us". Again, as stated above, if I wanted to use a Unix like OS made by a company that tries to "rule them all", I'd just buy a Mac.
