This new idiocy of letting all the balls come to a COMPLETE stop. What is more boring than to watch a cueball roll around an empty table, ending in the middle of the short rail with everybody watching it as if expecting it to suddenly hop into a pocket or off the table for a match altering foul.

The practice of letting the ball stop is: A) players throw the balls onto the table hard and “Willie-Nillie” ,they have collided with a rolling cue ball that “may” have scratched. Happened a lot. Started fights. Of course some feel we need more fights. We’ve become boring. B.) I don’t know.

It's not "new", it's always been a rule, the game is still in progress as long as the balls are moving. Just before in the 60s through early 2000s pool was basically done by hustlers and gamblers that did not care much about the official rules. These days things are more professional. Many events prohibit conceding racks or balls as well, which happens often in gambling and earlier tournaments.

How about a single game of 9 or 10 ball where you can run 8 or 9 balls but miss one and the opponent wins?
