Two things I will always say, use and repair what you have, don’t waste money and replace something you don’t need too if it doesn’t need it 🙄 I hope this bolt is saved or given to the right people so that it isn’t scrapped for no reason and can be used again

@@trainsandsirensofilinmiwi2080 I've read that they are. Take that with a grain of salt since I have no source for that, I've just read it on some posts here and there. I highly doubt they're relocating it, but I imagine they will replace it and put the 2001 at a nearby location

Honestly Braniff doesn't deserve the hate. They aren't replacing Thunderbolts with 2001s on impulse, just like that. They did it because they were commissioned by Tinley Park to do it, and for good reason, too. Old supercharged sirens like the Thunderbolt and the Hurricane are costly to maintain because not only do you have the head, you have a blower and its own accompanying motor to maintain as well. A 2001 is mechanically more simple and therefore easier to maintain than a Thunderbolt. Most municipalities don't care about a "cool" system as much as they do a reliable and cost-efficient system. It's sad to see this unit go, especially since Tinley has a really desirable test procedure (full alert AND full attack... at 10:30!) but cities don't have time to tend to such niche communities. Braniff could care less about the maintenance of any siren, but if they're paid to do their job, they will do it.

Another thing, Tinley targeted this unit probably because it's the easiest unit to remove out of the 3 remaining. If anything, they'll target Memorial ES first, then the 1003 on the abandoned hospital.

To add, according to some comments that I read from somewhere, they are taking down the 1003 and remounting it. I kinda doubt that, because that is in worse condition then this siren, but this is the one going first.

I hate it when sirens get replaced for no reason. This unit was working well.

Most of Orland Park, IL's ACA P-15s were replaced by FS 2001-130s. The others were completely removed.

I’m popping up next month to see if the 130 switched on. I really need a better recording of this thing before it’s finally too late, even just pictures. Awesome video

Ah I was behind the building by the basketball hoop with another enthusiast who says that he doesnt have a channel for sirens, he's a train enthusiast

I just wish that EMAs and towns would repair or refurbish their old sirens more often rather than replace them, especially if their still working fine, I think sirens really only should be replace if their irreparable or just to expensive to repair. But anyways, sad to see that thing go. Hope it'll find a new home other than the scrap yard!

Well that sucks, I was planning on getting this guy this Tuesday. Are Memorial and the old 1003 still up and running?

God damnit! Why, just why? Replacing a perfectly health Thunderbolt is the stupedest thing imo. It really sucks cuz there is not many Thunderbolts that do full of both signals for a test. Farewell, Tinley 1000T.
