I love that you show the reverse side of stitch patterns. Sometimes it’s fine that it’s not truly “reversible.” Seeing how the back looks helps me decide when to use it.

Thank you! I try not to forget to do it, because it’s important for me too 😉
I think the Old Shale is gorgeous, though they're both lovely. And belated Happy Birthday! 🎉

Thank you so much 😊 ❣️
I just found old shale in a 1950s pattern book I was looking at last night! I think my grandmother used it for making afghans for everyone so it's a very comforting pattern to look at 💜

Indeed! Happy knitting, and thank you for your comment 🤗
What perfect timing. I've been looking for a pattern to use for a baby blanket for my niece and hadn't seen one I liked that wasn't too hard for me. This old shale pattern is perfect. Thank you for sharing

Thank you Karla! Yes, I had a wonderful day 🥰
I tried the feather and fan pattern before, and always had issues with my work. Your video makes it so clear! I love that you took the time to explain the left leaning vs right leaning stitches! So glad I stumbled across it. Thank you for your time & effort 😊

I’m very happy to hear it. Thank you for your lovely comment❣️Happy knitting 🧶
I love the old shale because it is so simple. I don’t have to think and if you knit it in a lace yarn the back side looks good as well. And you can absolutely play with it. And mistakes are easy to fix. But maybe that’s just because I have knitted it more often?
Both are exquisite 😁, the second one.. sweater, socks, scarf more defined ❤ cleaner.
Happy Belated Birthday! Love these patterns they make beautiful scarves.

Thank you 😊
I hope your birthday was happy and will be followed by many more. To be frank, I'm becoming a very lazy knitter and am very taken with reversible patterns - especially as I do a lot of charity knitting. I would love you to show us the simple Feather & Fan.

thank you, thank you for pointing out the difference between Feather & Fan and Old Shale - when looking for the pattern for Feather & Fan the other one keep coming up - also, there is another pattern call "peacock" feather/foot something like that (I know peacock is in the name) - it is very close to Old Shale but looks like there are more row repeats ... very pretty - saving this to my favorites so I would love both patterns

I definitely like the Old Shale pattern better than the Feather & Fan pattern. I currently have the Old Shale pattern on needles now, but am using a slightly different pattern than the one you are using in this video that doesn’t require the ssk stitches. I am making a baby blanket using dk weight yarn in a blue color.

Old Shale is a gorgeous pattern! I'm surprised that it's only four relatively easy rows to produce such a lovely design. Thanks, Carolina (and a belated Happy Birthday!) P.S. I like Old Shale MUCH better than Feather and Fan!

Are you supposed to have the same amount of stitches after knitting the pattern row? I didn't end up with the same amount of stitches

Yep, the number of stitches shouldn’t change. Try it again 😉
