He's also one of the coolest dudes ever. I'll never forget that time he took his shirt off live during an outdoor show where it was around 115 degrees, got on the mic and yelled out "I'M FAT AS FUCK AND I TOOK MY SHIRT OFF, SO ALL OF YOU CAN TOO, DON'T BE EMBARRASSED"

  • @nomindseye

I really like (especially old school) FF, but Dino isn't much of a "riff monster". Even in his own words. He described his riffs as "I just followed what Herrera was doing with his bassdrum". Their contemporaries, albeit in different genre Machine Head, had a much better "riff monster" in Robb Flynn. As in he actually continually pushed out pretty great riffs, that didn't just follow the bassdrum. I can't really choose which of the two bands I like better from their heyday, but they're different flavors so I don't think I have to choose.

Demanufacture is a banger from start to finish, and the whole thing holds up, what, 26 years later? I HIGHLY recommend just putting this album on while you're out driving around or something. This and Strapping Young Lad's "City" got unfortunately trampled under by more "mainstream" stuff, but hold up better than almost everything else that ventured into this style. Good to see some REALLY heavy stuff on the channel as well. 🤘🤘🤘

Most people talk about the guitar rifts but the true mvp of this band is the drummer. That guy is just insane. The songs and album itself is about well basically the matrix. Man being taken over machines and having to fight back. Most of their albums are concept albums. There is no real life meaning just fiction overlaid with some of the heaviest music possible. If you want to hear some 90s eargasm Machinehead - Davidian.

Just curious as to why you have come to believe that there is no real life meaning because I don't see it that way. It's a clear warning of the path we have been on and this struggle has been noted as far back as the story of John Henry vs the steam engine, the terminator, the matrix, the animatrix etc.

In 1995 a friend sent me a mix tape of assorted metal (which is what we did back then to get expose friends to bands you liked). The final track was Self Bias Resistor. I knew of Fear Factory and of the Demanufacture album but hadn't heard it. Anyway, I had the tape playing while lying on my bed studying for a university exam. Then several things happened that changed the course of my existence. 1.....Self Bias Resistor came on and 2.....It hit that clean vocal chorus with that chord progression in the background and 3..... Holy Fuck my life changed and 4.....I jumped up and had to replay it over and over. Got the album and it's still one of my favourite albums of all time. It still holds up 25 years later.

Thank you Jamal for repping Fear Factory. Burton Bell and Dino Cazares. One of the most underrated bands in music lyrically, musically, and sonically. The message, and the soul. Rhythms be fire. Woke👁 Unity makes us stronger. It’s important to realize that our constructed material environment, not nature, is designed for us to hate ourselves and each other, so we are weaker and easier to control. Whereas positivity and love make us stronger. Fear Factory 4 life

Top class Industrial Metal. 🤘 Jamel - interesting fact: They gave me Tinnitus when they supported Black Sabbath in 1991. The bass was so brutal it was like being punched repeatedly in the chest! 😱🤘

It’s so awesome to see music that I loved as a teenager in the 90s, still connecting and finding new fans. Good music is timeless, and Fear Factory was always pushing boundaries of metal and ahead of the time.

Just since Biohazard is from Brooklyn I'm going to suggest Life of Agony - Nearly anything off of Ugly (Literally first 6 songs are straight fire as are several others. Seasons, I Regret, Lost at 22, Other Side of the River, Let's Pretend, Ugly - this band Life of Agony would bring in a LARGE new audience and be a teaching opportunity as their singer Mina Caputo transitioned from his given gender as Keith Caputo, to the female gender she always felt was her true self.) and also Dog Eat Dog (No Fronts, Isims, Pull my finger [not about what you are thinking it's about gun violence], Step Right In) was a wildly unrecognized rap metal band. Lots of other great songs

I loved Fear Factory sooooo much... they were for me what TOOL have become later on, in terms of listening... I kept listening to FF for such a long time... they were my soundtrack during my years in London. They kept me rocking and rolling... music is my drug and Fear Factory were running all the way up and down deep into my veins every fuckin'night'n'day! PS. I'm so happy you reacted to 4 of their songs in a row.... and that "Mystery Machine" t-shirt is a blast, man... I love the way you get into the reactions you're going to deliver even with your clothing!

Awesome to see someone reacting to Fear Factory. One of my all time favs. You should do the flipside of their work and check out some of their "ballads" Descent, Timelessness or Expiration Date. Also Ressurection is a class track that shows how beautiful they can make their style.

Awesome pick. A bit ashamed to admit I'd forgotten about them. SO much music! Now that you've got over 200,000 subscribers (!!!! congrats!), it will probably be even more difficult to get a request in, but here goes. File this one under: Up and coming band from the East Bay (mostly). Dress the Dead. Their singer is a mini-powerhouse! She's amazing, as is the rest of the band. "Kay, bit biased, know the guitar player, who was also in Forbidden and ManMadeGod. So, 1969 by Dress the Dead, please! There's more here with Kayla, as well. You will not regret it. x
