Faz o teu caminho | Nuno Santos | TEDxULisboa
Life is not always easy, and sometimes we have to make tough decisions. Nuno Santos was diagnosed with bone sarcoma, a disease with 3-5% survival rate. Eleven years later, he decided to amputate his left leg. In an energetic talk, Nuno shares how humor helped him cope with cancer - and how deciding to amputate his leg brought him a second life.
The day doctors found he had bone cancer was the day he started to rewrite his story. He did chemotherapy, autotransplant, radiotherapy and a hip removal surgery. Later on he decided that amputating his leg would bring him the quality of life that he was looking for. Today, he manages to live without pain nor any sort of limitations. He exercises daily and motivates others in similar situations. He recently published the book “Vida Acrescentada”, a biographic narrative of overcoming and hope. Tive a sorte de conhecer o Nuno presencialmente e já sabia que ele era inspirador, engraçado e mega good vibe, mas fiquei surpreendido pela postura e eloquência de discurso em frente a um auditório cheio, muito bom Nuno!!! Espero que depois desta aparição tenhas feito mais palestras destas porque foram 15 min muito bons !

Bit more difficult to understand than Brazilian but that might just be what I’m used to hearing.

Exactly i was thinking the same, as a matter of fact, i stop the video to check where the guy was from, because i couldn't understand most of it like other Ted in portuguese.

Me too! I’m brushing up in my Euro-Portuguese for my return to Lisboa coming up. It’s more difficult to understand than Brazilian Portuguese which has more similar pronunciations to Spanish.

Íme a komoly Nuno Santos. Nincs semmi akrobatikus produkció, széles gesztusok, fura grimaszol.... És semmi ugribugri... Csak járkál fel s alá a mankóin és mondja a magáét. Egyszerűen. Csak a lábcsonkra szabott kisgatyó köszön vissza... meg a közönség ovációja.
