"Wainamoinen" is the name of the mighty sorcerer in the Finnish "Kalevala". In the old Finnish myths, he is said to be able to work great magic only with the power of his singing and the playing of his harp. With celtic harp, lute, hurdy-gurdy and polyphonic singing, this atmospheric ballad is based on the motifs of the old Finnish rune songs and describes the deeds of the great "Wainamoinen".

Thank you so much for all your kind words, in the isolation of these quiet winter days they are very healing. In case you have missed it: Since yesterday you can pre-order our album PAGAN. Especially the strictly limited editions like for example the Vinyls and the 100page hardcover book with a CD and a DVD might be sold out very soon. Therefore do us a favour and check out this webshop and help us with your preorder through this financially challenging winter: www.music-merchant.shop/de/other-labels/diverse/faun/ - Thank you for your support!!

I’m American and I love reading about different religions and mythologies. Indeed Indian religion and mythos shares many commonalities with Pre-Christian European mythos and religion. Our prehistoric ancestors migrated and interacted with each other before they eventually settled into their modern nation states. I have always found history and culture to be fascinating and I like talking about it with other people who have an interest as well.

For some reason I am not sufficiently wise to articulate, this wondrous song always brings tears to my eyes. The lyrics are as compelling as a lover's caress, but in my case I suspect it is equally the rhythm -- like the slow wings of a solitary watch-raven patrolling the pure blue of a post-Bron-Trograine sky or the solemn tail-wag of a fierce but contented dog watching with growing satisfaction as you react with pleasure to a prize just fetched and laid at your feet. Which of course reminds me of the almost unbelievable good fortune that has, for nearly 82 years, brought me, despite my apparent unworthiness, the beloved and more-than-once lifesaving companionship of 18 of the finest canines one might ever imagine. Thank you, Goddess, for such lifelong blessings; 'tis assuredly as spoken by Robert Graves, whom I cannot doubt was our age's reincarnation of the great Taliesin: "...nothing promised that is not performed." And thank you, Faun, for making such evocative magic as real for us as it surely must have been for our pre-patriarchal ancestors. Blessed be!
