FATIGUED at SEA. (part 3 OF 3) Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 271

Day 4 at Sea! Brian Is it easier or harder than you though sailing with a 6 month baby? -
“Well we’re still alive and no one is going crazy, so I guess easier” :p
After 3 days averaging 4 hours of sleep a night I was definitely starting to feel like I needed a solid NAP. Delos was making great speed flying along at 11 knots from time to time surfing down waves when we spotted the outline of an island just after sunrise. After a pit stop at the Island of Great Inagua to clear Bahamas immigration and customs we continue for another 24 hour sprint to arrive in the isolated Ragged Islands. Oh I was just soooo happy to set the hook in crystal clear water right next to a beautiful white sand beach!!
Hope you liked this passage videos! So much fun to edit and so many great memories! Give us a thumbs up if you enjoyed watching :D Much Love ~ Kazza, Brian and little Sierra

No matter how difficult it is or how exhausted you are... babies and kids are SO WORTH IT! It is a huge life changer but embrace it all. The poopie diapers, the vomit, the crying.... when you get those times of pure joy interacting with your baby and then your toddler, child, teenager... life can't give you anything better. I created a sailing rig for my 16 foot canoe when my daughter was 5 and my son was 3. I had an old VHS camera with me. THAT one hour of video from 6 days of wilderness camping is SO PRECIOUS! My wife and I watch it every now and then 29 years after the holiday. GORGEOUS! Stay safe and fair winds to you both and Sierra!

Hello Delos Tribe, it has taken me a few weeks to watch every episode you have put out to be able to catch up to present day. To Brian and Karin aka Kazza, you all are the best parents I know. You have given your lovely nugget a life she will never forget. I found yual when I was looking for a ship to buy and sail in the open blue water. I found the video of Brian and Brady meeting you Kazza and I knew you two would be a family from there. So I went to the beginning of the voyage of Brian's start. Thank you all for this and hopefully one day I will be able to meet you all.

I started watching the Delos videos some months ago. After watching a few that popped up in my feed (Sierra must have been about 2yo), I decided to start afresh from episode 1. I am now at this episode, #271. So I have learned a lot about 10 years of the Trautman’s, friends’, & families’ lives in the short space of time that I have been glued to YT. Brian & Karen learning a lot about life at sea with a baby is clearly different from the earlier adventures from when the Delos' crews were just starting out. However, I think that at least one thing has remained the same. And this is the thing which has kept me involved in a marathon of watching 271 videos. That thing is “drama”. Sailing is inherently dramatic, dealing with ever changing conditions, problems with the material state of the boat, and how each crew manages their own internal feelings and behavior, especially when spending weeks at sea at a time. Now, as Brian & Karen learn how to sail passages by themselves, as well as look after Sierra, a lot of new drama is unfolding. I especially like how it creates new problems which then need to be solved. And personally, having shared the experience of changing thousands of nappies, I cannot help but chortle at Brian’s responses to the fumes which are so unlike those from an engine room. So I am excited to keep watching each episode in sequence, even if there is about another 100 or so to go! I dip my hat to you both. Bravo Zulu!!

One of the best things I've ever watched, and that includes theatre, television, and film. Truly inspirational. It has really taught me how to look at life differently. It will impact on my future choices, as well as my actions and words. Such a determined and chilled bunch of people. There's so much to learn from you all. I hope you continue to thrive as individuals, as a group, and thrive as a brand in the future. Stay salty and wet, x

The parts 1 through 3 were very enduring to watch, because in my mind I was able to put myself in both your shoes. What a challenge you two took on. Baby, Sailboat, Chores, Yourselves. Congrats. Nerves of steel, with love and devotion and a passion . What a lesson for us on land. Stay safe.

For heading north - to Canada and Greenland, you need a reliable boat heater plus Arctic weather gear, I believe Canada will let you in but need a 14 day quarantine, will let you in for sure under distress ( example you need food or diesel ), consider much less sunshine for solar power and more wind for the windmills, so happy to see you all grown up now, Francine and Peter, B.C Canada.
