Good morning Father, I will share this with you. I'm 65 years old and I have struggled for many years (30 or more) with things I have done over my lifetime. On Friday, March 18, 2022, I decided to take my life back from sin. I sat and spoke with a wonderful priest, Fr. George. He renewed my faith in God. He made my faith stronger... He administered penence to me for forgiveness of my sins. We recited the act of contrition. I feel so renewed. So enlightened. So close to our Lord, Jesus Christ. My new chapter in life began for me on Friday, March 18, 2022. Thank you Lord Jesus for not giving up on me when I gave up on myself. AMEN 🕯

Wonderful ! Things will come to you physically and internally as you journey. Insights, clarity, manifestations of unexpected experiences...oh and trials (can't forget them). Get to know our Mother Mary , i can't over emphasis Her importance especially in these trying times. There is a good book in this regard that came out a long time ago and it's great if you are traveling as you can read a chapter and stop. "A Woman Clothed with the Sun" by John J Delaney . Also if you haven't read "Seven Story Mountain" (T.Merton) do so ! God Bless you !

Father I have a son who is autistic and everything that is going on in the world is having a very unsettling effect on him. We pray the rosary every day and lift up all the worries to Him. He is struggling with hearing about our world being on the brink of WW 3. Please pray for him that Jesus will give him the peace that passes all understanding.

Keeping him away from the prophets of doom. Create the atmosphere of positivity and hope. God is love, forgiveness and mercy. Focus on it. The love bit particularly. Do not overwhelm your son with the apocalyptic propaganda of doom and gloom. He is already one of God's saints on earth. Tell him and assure him of this.

I am also on the Autism Spectrum. As you know, life for someone on the Autism Spectrum is difficult to navigate as it is. The past couple of years have been relentlessly unsettling - and swapping one constant banging drum of negative propaganda concerning Covid for another (Ukraine) without any room for a break from all the news of doom - not to mention the disruption of people's routines! What people forget is that all these things magnify several times over with those of us on the AS than those who are not Autistic because it is difficult to express. Keep praying the Holy Rosary (it is repetitive prayer and most helpful to reflect on the Mysteries, too). Also, repeat over and over 'My Jesus, Mercy! Mary, Help!' You are all in my prayers and I wish you all Peace and All Good.

Amen sister! I struggle with the same and realized recently that I must work on a prayer plan and organize myself with His help to overcome it. Well said. Ok, so after mass and much reflection today, I decided to add some clarification. My self perception is skewed. I tend to be like Martha from the Holy Scriptures. I do too much on a whirlwind around my house and then suffer physically because of arthritis. Then I have to sit for long periods to recover. This is when I judge myself too harshly and think I’m slothful when actually I’m not. Lesson learned!

Hi, Thomas Aquinas says that at the heart of sloth is a sadness in your heart about the things of God that should bring you joy. This causes you to be lazy about prayer or whatever else. That sadness is a lie, and God is your ultimate joy. God is the most enjoyable thing/person you could imagine. Heaven is eternity with just him. He is your joy!

That’s why we have to spend our half hour in silence with the Lord every day and also pray the 7 Sorrows of Mary if we want to know the root of our problems. If we don’t give the Lord our time we can’t expect to have our souls clean. Like we say in recovery, “It works if you work it, it don’t if you won’t.” I’m sorry but we all have to hit our rock bottoms in order to clean house in our souls. It’s not easy, and neither for Jesus, but that’s why he died for us on the cross, because he loves us that much. We are such control freaks and we have to ask for (grace) to assist us in our silent time w/ him. Like my sponsor use to say to me or if you want to call it spiritual director. (Learn to listen and listen to learn.) Thank you Lord for our cross!! 🙋🏻‍♀️❤️🙏🏼✝️

I have a lot of "catching up" to do, so I needed this reminder that God causes the growth as long as I am faithful to pray, seek His will in all things, go to Mass and confession, and know that I am His! He will not abandon me! And I pray the Rosary and Divine Mercy chaplet every day... this has changed my life!

If you want to overcome addiction you need to stay very close to God! I overcame two deep addictions by Gods grace because I prayed the rosary every day, went to Mass every day that I could, and I went to confession at least once a week. It was often more than once a week because I would fall to my addictions. I’m now 4 years clean from both addictions! If you pursue God with all your heart he will get you through it no matter how big the hurdle. Here’s an amazing quote from St Louis De Montfort for more encouragement: “Even if you are on the brink of damnation, even if you have one foot in hell, even if you have sold your soul to the devil as sorcerers do who practice black magic, and even if you are a heretic as obstinate as a devil, sooner or later you will be converted and will amend your life and will save your soul, if-and mark well what I say-if you say the Holy Rosary devoutly every day until death for the purpose of knowing the truth and obtaining contrition and pardon for your sins.”

Thank you for this, Fr. Mark, as you rightly say, we all struggle with sin. But I take comfort from St. Therese when she said: “If I had all the crimes possible on my conscience, I am sure I would lose none of my confidence. Heartbroken with repentance, I would simply throw myself into the Saviour’s arms, for I know how much He loves the prodigal son.” And in another place she writes: “No one can make me frightened anymore, because I know what to believe about His mercy and love; (Jesus) I know that in a twinkling of an eye all those thousands of sins would be consumed as a drop of water cast into a blazing fire.” It’s joyful humility and childlike confidence in the mercy of God we need to hang on to. Little children don’t seem to dwell on their shortcomings. They just concentrate on living in the present moment in trust, hope and love. St. Therese of Lisieux pray for us!

But then someone gives a new insight like this and I'll never read that passage the same way again. Thank you Fr. Mark, what a blessing!

I have found that even in the most hard difficult times in the struggle, Our Lady's Holy Rosary, on many ocassions, made me aware that Our Lady of Heaven was there and helping me through the struggle I found myself in, in life. She definitely is a pure miracle worker! Lots of love in God, to you and all in and through our wondrous, mighty God and "thank you". Amen 😘💖😘😁🎶😇🎵

Father Brian Hayes here in San Diego has taught us about asking for Grace to withstand and overcome challenges in life. Father Brian speaks of his challenges just before he became ordained as a priest. He told us he asked for the Grace to fulfill his Priesthood. He started Eucharistic adoration, the Triduum Masses, a Hispanic Mass and ministry, homeless ministry as well as other things. He updated our Church building that was falling into ruin. One can see he still struggles with life but he has helped us so much. Just like you Father Goring.

It is entirely possible that satan knew that this good man would achieve great things on becoming a priest and so wanted to throw every obstacle in his way. Probably still does. I am glad you have such a great priest looking after you.

Fr Mark I pray to my Lord Jesus that one of these days I may be able to go to church confess my sins and receive the Holy Eucharist my heart soul and mind hurt because I can't 😪 and I need him in my life❤️‍🔥for I fall short every day because I'm a sinner and it hurts me because he loves me and he's my love but I'm also a coward for not forcing __ to take me. I have noticed that the more I surrender myself to our God Jesus the more I'm being attacked verbally and spiritually I can handle verbally I don't talk back in a negative way but when I say oh God bless you too it's like they were not expecting that but spiritually when I'm asleep I hope you believe me but they beat me up oh yeah I feel the punches on my stomach the first time they get me good but the second time I yell Jesus help me protect me from this evil🙏🏼 so yes it's a hard road to our Lord Jesus but I wouldn't have it any other way I ask him for strength to carry my cross because I know what my reword will be In paradise 🙌🏼 HALLELUJAH 🙌🏼 I truly pray for you Fr Mark you're an amazing man of God ❤️✌🏼🦋🙂

Father Mark is a wonderful virtual priest…..but only virtual. How many of us actually go to our parish priest and talk to him, confess to him, pray with him, and establish a parish relationship? I see a growing need for encouragement through the Internet, but nothing beats a real sympathetic ear with someone who recognizes you. Go to Mass!

God bless you for saying this. Through the "pandemic" the isolation has very much affected our priests, His chosen sons. Attending to their needs is very much part of what Bishop Fulton Sheen was saying when he indicated that the laity need rise up. Our priests are ALL between a rock and a hard place, especially in these days. Be sure to always ask first before ever assuming what specific needs are. I feel also that this isolation is, in part, necessary for their own spiritual ascent, a stripping down of worldly relationships to have increased focus on the relationship with the Eternal Father. Let us keep this in mind and prayer. God bless us all and this world! 💜✝️👑🔥🇻🇦

“It is a mysterious slow process”. Thank You Father, we fail to realize that it takes time and perseverance. Our culture tells us it is instant and God on the other hand imparts His grace upon us in due time. The Israelites suffered for 400 years, The Israelites wandered in the desert for 40 years. Jesus went into the wilderness for 40 days. The journey thru life is part of the process. Let’s us count our blessings, trust in God, spend time in quiet contemplation each day with Him and continue moving closer to Him. Viva Cristo Rey!

Humble yourself always before God for you to be able to get rid of your sins, vices and addiction far more easily. Our strength lies always in humility and trust in God. When I say humble yourself always before God, it means everytime you pray to God to deliver you from your sins and bad habits, always acknowledge before God your sinfulness, your nothingness and your helplessness in fighting temptations like ..... "Lord, help me to get rid of this sin or addiction. I can't do it by myself bcos I can do nothing but only sin and mistake without Your help but with Your help and grace, I will be able to rise from my sins and addictions ....... " And pray many rosaries every day. Praise God!
