There was always a real person who wielded the tsubame gaeshi technique, he just wasn't the Sasaki Kojiro of the stories. This faces off against female Musashi as thr Nameless Swordsman in Epic of Remnan, and the wraith summoned by the Fuyuki grail is also based on him.

Kojiro is a real person the only problem is the actual kojiro isn't able to be summoned but a stand in instead we have Wraith Kojiro and another in fate requiem a saber who can cut space who is named tsuda which is another name of kojiro this time his a farmer turned samurai who is a stand in for the actual kojiro

Actually it's more like there was a person named Sasaki Kojirou, there was a person who fought Musashi in Ganryujima and there was a person who mastered the Tsubame Gaeshi, but all three of them were different people. Even in Shimousa in the original Japanese language, Nameless Saber simply decided to take up the name Sasaki Kojirou. True Sasaki Kojirou is simply a mistranslation.

According to the legends, Musashi deliberately showed up late and made Kojiro impatient, and forced Kojiro to fight him facing the sun, he may did Kojiro dirty but that's just how he fought, if you check the shadow of both Musashi and Kojiro in this clip (0:58) , you'll see Kojiro was really facing the sun. Really nice detail.

They only didn't include the fact he didn't use two swords. He did use his nitten ichi Ryu, but with an oar that he removed the wider head, making It just a long stick with equal width between tips. Wonder why they didn't put this here, though

​@turinmormegil7715 to make the legend cool and lean more on the "way of the sword". The legend focuses on "strategy" aspect. Kojiro practiced with a longer sword than normal, which is much more heavier and calculated his footsteps to gain huge advantage over his opponent. Musashi saw through Kojiro and planned a countermeasure, exploit every of his weakness. Japanese swordduel stories were more on realistic side with strategies. For example the story of Yagyu Jubei sacrificed 3 loyal followers to understand his enemy Bakuya Daikyu's Tsukikage technique(Moon shadow - Using the light of the moon reflect on the sword and blind his opponent), then practice to jump over his opponent head to cover the light and land a surprise hit (Hien Musou Ken)

Not that's anything wrong with It, though It is certainly Funny at the least seeing Musashi being represented nowadays as epitome of Bushido when for a long time he was seen as an heterodox or even an heretic of the Sword About Yagyu: that's a Funny story. Hadn't Heard that one before, but It resembles not only Musashi using the Sun against Kojiro, but also running alongside a temple platform to have the high ground advantage against one of the Yoshioka swordsmen. Though I don't think I've heard of THAT Yagyu before. Is him the same as Munenori, Toshiyoshi or Sekishusai, but with a different name, or just another member of the family?

When Iori used Kojiro's Noble Phantasm, it was at that moment when I realize, in Fate Stay/Night, if Sasaki Kojiro had a legitimate master, and can roam around without any restrictions. He would body more than half of the servants participating in that Holy Grail War, including Saber and Gilgamesh.

What can he do against sword beams, immortality, petrification, broken phantasms, instant death spear or gazillion NP bullets + chains? Kojiro is great if he gets to fight against a mundane melee fighter but most of the F/SN cast wouldn't let him. Kojiro was only so successful in F/SN because he got to defend a choke point with high ground.

I love kojiro but no he wouldnt. he still loses against the majority of the servants. Keep in mind that the temple that kojiro guards has a barrier that weakens enemy servants so he always fight with an advantage. even with that he struggles a lot. sasaki loses against every servant except maybe Hassan. Heracles wins due to God hand brining him back after he dies to tsubamae gaieshi, Cu and medusa are straight up stated to be faster and also both have ranged attacks that kojiro has no way to deal with, saber out stats him hard and can excaliblast him , and I'm pretty sure Gilgamesh and sasaki have fought in which Gil won. although he did admit that him getting close to kojiro was a VERY bad idea for him. Emiya can also just UBW him.

Lol no he wouldn't. Maybe he would body Saber if he never allows her to cast Excalibur ever(that and she has no plot armor aka Avalon), but he will never be able to kill Herc and Gil especially seeing Herc is literally immune to his strikes because it's a normal ass blade, and Gil has something to fend off his tsubame gaeshi plus can just chains him up and kill him.

Iori feats are crazy ngl. The fact that he [SPOILERS] Uses a modified version of Tsubamegaeshi for Niten-Ichiryu to slash Musashi from SIX DIFFERENT ANGLES at once is a crazy feat. Kojirou took years trying to learn that technique, and even then it was only for his odachi. Tho, it's possible that he could've done a double tsubamegaeshi as well if he utilized niten-ichiryu, but thats up to speculation. Then again, Iori did straight up duel with Musashi and later on Takeru (on the "bad" ending) and was holding his own extremely well. Mushashi might not be in her Saber class, but her Berserker class alternate is in my opinion just as tough. And while he didn't beat Takeru, it's still impressive that he survived so long, given that Takeru didn't decide to NP him at the start of the dual.

​@@SiegfriedFafnirsbane Niten Ichiryu is a sword style which as Type Moon describes it aims to reach 'Zero', this is achieved through the Five Stances (notably the Void Stance which is the last and hardest to master of the 5 stances). Whereas Kojiro's Tsubame Gaeshi attempts to reach 'One' (i.e. adding complexity till you reach the combination of all possibilities and in the process creating a limited use of the Second Magic). Zero being what happens when all possibilities are cut leaving just a singular response, her Noble Phantasm lets her use the Sword of 'Zero' something even she has not mastered yet. Reaching beyond Zero in LB5 actually allowed her to access The Swirl of The Root itself and use that to destroy the portal that Khaos was trying to create. But as she reached the Root she was erased from the Throne of Heroes.

Ironically it should be a Noble Phantasm that our Musashi should be able to access but doesn't. Probably because beating someone with boat oars is less powerful than summoning a Deva, and also pulling out the sword of Zero. Maybe it has like 10000% damage against those that can use Tsubame Gaeshi cause that would be funny if it was an Anti-Unit (Kojiro) NP.

Ok so I have a few guesses as to how sasaki kojirou the person who never existed abd is a fictional story(acording to extra material) is here Acording to the extra materials of UBW Fake sasaki(stay night) did live around the same period of musashi(tho never met or fought him) So 1: its possible that this is fake sasaki and his pretending to be the same sasaki from the fictional stories because his close enough to be him 2: in this universe sasaki is real but his not summoned in stay night because the grail favors versions of people from the same universe as the war So the grail went "I dont want another AU dude oh I know ill take that random guy his close enough" So either 1 of this 2 choises

​@thecolorgreen9022 well "Kojiro's" sword is drastically longer than what Iori or even most swordsmen would use, enough that he named it "laundry-drying pole". Iori is using two swords as well, so each slash only had the force of one arm behind it.

I really really really wish they added some form of pvp dueling in this game. I love it for what it is but fate extella links pvp was... bad to say the least. I was hoping they wouldn't get discouraged and test out the waters especially since they have a stance system. Q.Q

It would have thought of the parallel universo thing as well, seeing Berserker Musashi is from a world where Musashi was a Girl, but the way she reffers to Iori's world seems like she reffers to what would be "real world"

I feel like the most obvious conclusion is that the world of Samurai Remnant is a pruned/destined for pruning timeline. Given that the circumstances are removed from history a fair bit, especially where Iori is concerned. The existence of a real person named Sasaki Kojirou who both mastered Tsubame Gaeshi and fought Musashi at Ganyru-Jima is one notable difference from the norm in fate. A difference from normal history would be Iori's existence, he's younger and of a drastically lower position at the time the game takes place compared to real life. In real life he would've been much older and serving in a high ranking position for someone I can't remember. So the world of Samurai Remnant, for one reason or another, had Iori born later than he should have been, learning from Shinmen Musashi at a younger age and meeting Sasaki Kojirou, who should not exist and learning from him as well. Then standard deviation happens with the Waxing Moon Ritual and the circumstances of Edo should frankly be vastly different from the historical accounts and even the usual state of affairs in other fate worlds since I doubt the Waxing Moon Ritual is conceived in all or even most fate worlds. So probably a pruned timeline, it's got enough timeline errors to qualify.

Since he was summoned as False Assassin so actual Kojiro wasn't taken. Only Hassans were supposed to be the proper assassin summons in Fuyuki's grail war.

@@adam-dn3hi this is why you'd safely consider that Samurai Remnant timeline is not the same as the Fuyuki timeline. Just like Extra timeline is not Fuyuki timeline. This Kojirou is true and did duel Musashi but did not die at Ganryuu-jima. The fact that 4 out of 7 masters in the Remnant Ritual were based on real people is really interesting (Iori, Shousetsu, Takao II, Chenggong/Koxing). Multiverse is a thing in nasuverse and Nasu just keep breaking it like it's cookie. xD
