For real, Iori might be one of the strongest Masters in the Fate franchise, man have been keeping up his own with many Servants, fight alongside and against them almost on equal terms. Even using a Noble Phantasm with two swords to defeat his master's counterpart. What a beast.

Also because of some other stuff that I won't spoil. The male Masashi could possibly be grand saber though.

Given the circumstance of this boss battle, it would had made more sense to had made Saber Playable & Iori be the Boss instead.

I really felt like Code Geass, I could already see a similar distraught scream from her at that end scenario similar to Nunnally when she saw Lelouch. Really felt bad Kaya on this ending too but I agree this ending felt the most complete.

Have to say Iori could have turned out like Kirei with this ending, before the Waxing Moon Ritual the only thing keeping him going off the deep end. The log book outright stating that and he generally could love and form friendships yet was second to his desire to master the sword, yet his sword philosophy was to understand others to cut them down at anytime. The new game plus route I feel is him as he said, letting go of the excess and embracing his inner self more. With this ending letting go of everything and deciding to plunge Japan in war over the Grail to have an era to have a life he could flourish in the ‘right age’, failing cause as Saber pointed out he didn’t truly understand them. Dying to a single thrust while expecting a Noble Phantasm. Saber during this route expected this outcome I would say around when he finally cut off the excess and wasn’t surprised when he revealed his true goals, but didn’t want for this to happen. Iori in the end died lamenting he couldn’t adjust to a peaceful era, but found solace in dying and considered Saber a friend. Still in the end he left Kaya alone, perhaps for the best she didn’t know what her brother would have done. Looking as I unlocked this ending first for new game plus and than Flames of Resentment afterwards I think unlike Kirei he comes to while accepting his true nature never embraces it completely and accepts being in the wrong area while accepting to destroy the Grail. I think the Flames of Resentment’s ending on the new game plus route best exemplifies that, smiling while carrying Kaya as a new day dawns and he returns to a normal life with her safe. While probably still frustrated at the conditions of a peaceful existence, growing to tolerate it more if it will keep those he cares about safe and probably find opportunities considering how much he has grown in the war. Maybe there will be more details when the DLC episodes release, but we will see.

I beat the game today and crying my eyes out. Iori wasn't wrong. He was just at the wrong time... Same as Yamoto.

No wonder Gil found interest in Iori.....he really is just like Kirei and Shirou in a way.......... this game story wise really feel's like was using unpublished script's for character's and plot point's......maybe if we had Illya's route we would have Shirou who would also want eather for grail war to continue or for Angra Mainyu to be born since it would replicate the tragedy that happened to him 10 year's ago.Iori just like Shirou died and was reborn at that day and mentally was reliving it over and over.Hear me out:when did Shirou even said he want's to save the world? He always states that he want's to become a hero of justice but why? Kirei proposed that he could use grail's power to turn back time or to stop human's suffering,but Shirou think's that it's wrong for him to achieve his goat so easily but maybe that's becuase that's not what he wants? Maybe Shirou felt jealows of Kiritsugu when he saw his face at that moment,the face of someone who felt fulfilled destite being so broker so perhaps if Shirou followed Kiritsugu's footstept and did what Kiritsugu felt was right perhaps he also could..................that's why Shirou does not walue his life,if he can't become hero of justice there is no point of him to live! But of course there is not all that it is to those character's,it's just one side of a coin.

Yeah. Comparing them, Iori and Emiya all could have picked something different from the path of their dream for Shirou, and desire for Iori. They both didn't value their life that much since there was nothing like that in what they want to do with their one chance to live. In the end for each one of them, Shirou could have many to realise many things about his dream, Iori Miyamoto only had two paths to follow, and only one path truly embraces his desire. In the end of the New Game Plus's option, Iori in his last moments decided that there was nothing left to hide, there was nobody else he can cut, and he couldn't no longer follow his desire as Saber "broke his sword". He now can finally proclaim that he thinks of Saber as a True friend of his lifetime, seemingly apologize for giving up everything between them to follow his desire. As Saber understands him, letting him speak his final words knowing that he wants to speak out his feelings. To say that, there is nothing more of that desire but the dream of having a True friend. For this thought, that might be the only regret for Iori that he couldn't understand his True friend as that person understands Iori dearly, "Sorry, that this is the end for me here, that I couldn't ever realise, that I have a True friend for the path I took. Sorry, Saber." Iori Miyamoto, a sad ending that was. But that was the only thing that could have happened at the end of his life, so I'm glad that Saber was the one to do it, the one who understands him in the end.

Iori is similar to Kirei, both of their nature thrive on chaotic time, they seek them, they wish for them If the only things that made them different from each other is that Iori is capable of loving

As FGO crossover shows, this seems the most canon ending (multiverse bs be damned)

In one way, I think Iori was satisfied by dying in Saber sword skill which bewitched him. Saber also decided to kill him after sensing the calamity he will face and cause in the future if he was left feeling alone in the peaceful world which doesn't fit in with his mindset. (It is so sad though, doesn't that just mean that while Saber understand him, Iori himself did not understand Saber enough hence why he lose)This make me wonder...Does the good ending really a good ending for him? I mean the player was the one choosing the option but it was not like it was his desire because he may suppressed himself to make a good choice for everyone. The peaceful day may just make his mind gone real bad in the end because he desire a more dangerous life and what will happen if he snap one day?

all 3 endings comes from a prune timeline , so it legit don't matter. But the thing of "Ray of Hope" and "Flame of Resentment" is that they are endings in which his blade thirsts , but Iori himself is satisfied that Kaya is safe Flame of Resentment specifically have Rogue Saber writting a sermon to Iori , to help him regarding his "thirst" , to be akin to an oni , but even been one , he uses his wife as an example that onis can be good and morals even with said "thirsts". All 3 endings are "an ending" , not "good" or "bad" or "true". In the end , each ending had Iori sacrificing either his morals or his thirst. It really exemplify that he was simply born in the wrong era.

He did not really mean it. But the temptation to fight Saber was just too great.

I don't think there's such a thing as 'true' ending in this game. I think that it follows the same principles as the Stay Night trilogy, so there's no "true" "good" or "bad" endings, it's just a path that the player follows

Not only that , Iori was part of the shogunate during the Shimabara Rebellion , been the explicit reason of his meteoric rising as a vassal. With him and Yeomon been the ones that spread the Book of Five Rings and mantaining Musashi's Dojo. SR Iori is in his 20s , meaning the character literally was born later than PHH Iori. And is a Ronin , rather than a Vassal.

The point I was trying to make, is that just like the Stay Night timeline has three different routes, which is hard to tell which one is the true timeline of the Fuyuki's Holy Grail War, Samurai Remnant does also has no true ending like that.

If this choice of ending had a slightly good in it like Iori doesn't want to destoy it yet all because he'd not gonna see saber again, he'd would've want a sparing match and whoever wins gets to destory it. That way would've smiled to the end. But still I have no dislike to this ending nor the others.

I think you're mistaken in your reading. Saber's wish was unrelated to Ototachibana-hime. we can know the wish you suggest can't be the one Saber is reffering to in "entreat the darkness" because the Ototachibana-hime digression is optional. This means it is possible to have saber say their wish was fullfilled in this ending without having "fullfilled" it. It was a lovely coincidence that Ototachibana-hime was chain summoned with Saber but that isn't why they answered the summons. from the very beggining, before they knew that Ototchibana-hime would be summoned: they knew that their wish didn't need the grail and pretended to have forgotten it. Saber's wish was to have a friend. they found that friend in Iori. This is the importance of Iori saying: "but haven't I been blessed with a true friend?". This is not something he himself values greatly but he knew saber did and thus affirmed them: that he too viewed them as a friend. Notice that right after this affirmation is the scene where saber states that the grail was not needed to have their wish fullfilled. Notice also that saber Is crying in this scene as they smile. Saber crying is an important element. this can be shown in a monologe saber has with themselves earlier in the game. In this scene: Saber remembers Ototachibana-hime's sacrifice and the vow Yamato Takeru made that day: to never cry again. "on that day, at that moment... I first knew real tears. I knew plenty. and I knew sorrow. I realized sorrow was all I earned from killing them - the Takeru brothers - in those distant lands. and then, my tears ran dry. The following are some descriptions of takeru taken from their in game profile: "accoding to the dream that Iori saw of Saber's former life, this hero was lauded for butchering many a man, but was in truth isolated and forlorn." "outcast by his family, friendless and bereft of his beloved wife, Takeru slaughtered people, kings, and even gods as he continued on his path. After his long journey of conquest, his lonliness growing with each battle, Yamato Takeru's spirit became a white swan, soaring through the heavens." notice the explicit mention of "friendless" and overall driving home of Takeru's isolation. In life Saber's former life "[..] There was but one who could stand to be near me. someone who held these tainted hands", that someone being Ototchibana-hime. In Saber's second life: that someone is Iori. we actually have dream of Iori's, showcasing Takeru's wish. That scene is labled "a wish" in the library of the game and is described as such by the game: "Iori dreams of someone losing the people they hold dear, a dream of one who walks alone, cutting a path through burning flame." in this scene we are shown the sacrifice of Ototachibana-hime but that isn't where the scene ends. It also shows the betrayal of Yamato Takeru at Yakidzu where he redirects the flames set against him with his sword's divine power. another example of being isolated. They say this in the scene. "what did I shout on those plains-- when i drew the divine sword in the inferno. what did I shout? what did I curse? what did I wish for?" what Saber cursed was their isolation. what they wished for was to have someone they could call a friend. That was the wish Saber held in their heart and why they answered the summons in my opinion. ps. the materials of saber also explictly call saber Iori's friend as the first descriptor of the character and describes that even though saber at first regarded Iori as weak and thus wanted to toss him aside: they grew to appreciate him.

A duel to the death was unneeded for that. In all endings, Saber's wish was fulfilled. Now I want an ending where Iori's dream is crushed AND where he can continue to live on. That way, Saber won't have to cry for a broken bitch but a healing fool.

It's not the true ending, the True ending can only be gotten in NG+ which fills in some things that were missing in NG. The true ending's final boss is Chiemon in some weird hellish form.

Flames of resenment is the "true" ending

For a boss fight this kinda disappointed me how easy to remember the pattern is....but i dont mind But i do find fighting 3 lynel and 4 ganon is far harder than this fight

After everything, i only have one question: did we REALLY need to play the game again just to see that Iori's an asshole? Why did game basically HIDE this when it should have always been there normally? It doesn't feel right to have Iori be basically be a generic protagonist the whole game, only for him to all of a sudden morph into a bloodthirsty asshole in the late-game of another playthrough. Its really stupid and it should've just always been there. It makes the main character seem "off" or inconsistent due to having NO trace of bloodlust in that 1st run. They feel like completely different characters when he probably shouldn't.

Did you fast forward all the conversation? Literally everybody is commenting on Iori has another layer to him, and the dark back story of Iori is the first thing you see every chapter. If anything is inconsistant, it's the other endings.

my reasoning would be that for first playthrough, if you arrived at the good ending, means you have successfully maintained the peace of Edo, and Iori dream is broken. but he lives in a time of peace despite his desire to fight and kill. which already has been alluded to in the first playthrough and the final scene. we as the player going through ng+ is giving him what he wants , more fighting and killing and the game rewards us with the iori that doesn't want to end the waxing moon, because he will no longer be satisfied living peacefully. YOU as a player are the one who feeds iori desire for killing and fighting and so the rewards you with this ending . he fought what he considers the best swordsman in the world , lost and defeated ,but with not a single regret . he .might have loved kaya as a sister, but his desire for bloodshed and swordsmanship is above kaya in this particular ending .

You get this only in NG+ if you choose the Option "Not to destroy the waxing Moon" at the end of the game. Choosing the other option unlocks the game's True Ending.

There are 2 route caused by the options in Chapter4. Each of them has an own end in the route, and both of the 2 ending will destroy the Waxing Moon. Then, only for new game+, both of the two route will have a new option before the final chapter of the route to choose that destroy it or not. If you choose not to destrory it,the last bosses of those 2 route will kill each other, and this THIRD ending will be caused no matter which route you choose in chapter4. So, this ending is a new game+ SECRET ending.

I don't think there's such a thing as 'true' ending in this game. I think that it follows the same principles as the Stay Night trilogy, so there's no "true" "good" or "bad" endings, it's just a path that the player follows

@@bluelion3008 You don't know what you're talking about. Canon ending and true ending are not the same thing. VN has 3 endings explicitly referred to as True End. Those are intended endings of their respective routes, not canonical ones.
