​@@kamamara2567 ​ Mythology is extremely sad and harsh like that unfortunately. Remember so much of it was written and told by men of a bygone era now. So of course we see it now a days with all the rape and people getting sacrificed and killed and it seems insane to us, but that's just our modern society view of it. When I look at mythology I try to see the legend being told overall. Much of mythology are peoples ideals and beliefs being laid bare, so to me, it's so interesting to see how all these characters and people were spoken of. Yes there are many unfortunate things said in some of those stories, but they're not the whole picture, and even those things can be treated with respect and care when adapted in modern media. Caenis' Bond 4 (and her outburst from Bond 3) being what is it I think is a fantastic example of that. She's still buff as hell and super strong, and she'll use the power she's gained from being a Heroic Spirit with Posiedon's power, but yeah, underneath that she still has a part of her from when she was once human.

@@crawlingboy Greek Mythology is full of harsh stories and insane tales like that. I like to view it and think in many ways it represented a lot of the ideals and minds of society at the time. It was an entirely different world back then, and stories like this can teach us or even show us a glimpse of what they may have been like. While there are plenty of fantastic things to come from it, there are also plenty of ugly sides too it as well.

Triixster I think they mentioned that in these Lostbelts, once a servant dies, they will remain so, especially after mushashi “ars nova’d” her way out. Unusual that Caenis can even remember what transpired in the lostbelt unlike the rest of the lb servants, maybe because she’s a divine spirit so she could exception, anyways she’s definitely talking about her in the past tense.

Her quote on Altera seems to hint something about her true nature (Extraverse spoilers) Altera's true self is the White Titan, the Mecha Gods you fight in the Lostbelt were the same gods that god their asses kicked by White Titan Altera in the original (proper) timeline. Altera's NP Teardrop Photon Ray is Mars trying to nuke Altera but Altera using her own mana guides the beam to a different target. EDIT: lostbelt spoilers included in this too. Olga Marie possession looks similar to the Velber Corruption that both Archimedes and Elizabeth went into. Just some food for thought

@@bluecat6902 Altera, or previously know as Sefar AKA The White Titan, killed an awfully huge ammount of Gods at the beginning of the Age of the Gods in Panhuman history, and can be considered the first step that started the decline of the Age of the Gods. She appeared in the Olympus Lostbelt as well but the difference was that she was defeated before killing any Diety or making a huge mess, though all acknowledge her power. In other words, most gods who knew of her in one way or another would be wary of her at best or scared shitless at worse if they saw her. The chick was basically Kratos for *all* Phanteons, and for good reason. Edit: Typos.

And uhh, Shirou is not a eroge protag, and barring the original VN which had NO voice acting and is basically non-canon now that the Vita remake and ufotable movies exist, he's pretty clearly been characterized in ufotable adaptations and other media.

"Hide from her female side" isn't what she did, and I definitely wouldn't call her normal demeanor an "insane boy personality". That side of her is just who she chose to become after what she went through. She just changed who she was. In the myth Caenis decided if the gods were going to pull shit like that then she'd change herself to never be at their mercy again. It's like she said, Poseidon may as well have killed her that day when he raped her. Her dying and transforming into a giant phoenix, leaving behind only her original female body, may have been a sign that she'd finally been released from the harsh cruel state of reality.

Drake Don’t know where you’re getting the “romanticize” here. She didn’t create a “second personality”, that’s straight up what isn’t being shown in these bond lines. What you see IS her personality. She grew jaded and pissed off and decided to be what she saw as a “powerful warrior” as a result of her traumatic experience, so that asshole gods like Poseidon would never hurt her, or him rather, again. The Bond 4 is them, while drunk (as they’re asking for wine in the previous bond lines) just reminiscing of their life and that fact, and wishing things had been different. Remember that’s the Bond 4 line, the Bond 5 line, which is when you’re closest with your servant, Caenis is back to their usual self, and that’s how they feel comfortable being. Obviously what happened to her was horrible, no one is romanticizing that at all, but their choices afterwards were there’s alone.

I think they're motivation about the Holy Grail hinted much that we really can't summon them normally in a Holy Grail war unlike those who have been summoned during a Grail war.

It's not really sure that's because of that. I just think she has no wish for the Grail. On the other hand, she does have a Divine Core and is summoned as a Divine Spirit, so summon in a normal Grail War might just be impossible.

She's absolutely getting two grails.

Caenis is still a pretty attractive woman regardless of what she says. She is quite nice to her master as well and opens up to him.

Well, in the actual myth, s/he was indeed invulnerable, but the centaurs still managed to defeat her by burying her under tree trunks, rocks and dirt, so she died by suffocation. That's a really bad way to go.

Technically, she's invulnerable (or nigh-invulnerable in some versions), not invincible. Her body can't be physically damaged, but she can still die through other means. In the original legend she/he just had indestructible skin, kind of like the Nemean Lion that Heracles killed. She died a similar death too, via asphyxiation/suffocation. It's a popular trope in mythology for someone to be 'invincible' except for one specific weak spot or a kryptonite-style weakness, I guess.

Wow, she's got dialog for everybody. They should learn from this. It's absurd that in a game where you collect jpegs, some of them barely have anything to say at all. Dialog should be the most important part of a servant.
