Fatalis' regeneration lore be like:

Фильм және анимация

"This Fatalis Greatsword be givin' me bad vibes, yo...
It seems... alive..."
Fatalis lore is funky. A sword that heals when mined, Rumors of armor that drives its wearer mad as they slowly become one with the beast slain, and the fear that the legend can be revived from a single scale... Is any of this true? idk, I just made this as a joke. It is up to the interpretation from the reader... for we will never know the true nature of the Black Dragon...

Some years later nobody hears from you, like the legend who brought down the unassailable dragon king suddenly fell off the face of the earth. After a long Trek you look up and find yourself home at last, weary from ceaseless marching, collapsing from exhaustion within those familiar walls and drifting to a deep slumber. When next you wake, guests are heard traipsing about in your domicile, and you meet them with all the hatred your heart can roar forth from the depths of your soul. Phase One begins...

Fun Fact: In one of the older monster hunter games, they had these quests where you snatch monster eggs to study… …But the very last egg of said quest chain is a _Crimson Fatalis egg,_ even though it’s presumed there are only one of each kind of Fatalis on the planet at any given moment… _Meaning that, in the rare event that any given instance of Fatalis CAN’T regenerate from whatever last killed it (Like the Hunters resisting the urge to loot the corpse and thus proceed to incinerate it), a new Fatalis of the same kind, _*_If not the exact same individual, memories and all,_*_ WILL eventually revive into any random monster egg on the planet, and will proceed to grow to adulthood within hours of first hatching._

You'd like DFO's Spirazzi then, the Death Dragon has extreme regenerative abilities that basically turns him into an immortal, he isn't immune to damage tho so the people who "killed" him ("neutered" is a better word) did so by building a gigantic machine that constantly released insane amounts of heat and kept his regeneration at bay, basically eternally burning him, "we sentence you to eternal death" they said, but should the machine ever stop producing heat he'd come right back like nothing ever happened.

In the Iron Kingdoms lore, dragons are straight up eldritch abominations that only another dragon can truly kill. They look like traditional dragons, but the fire they breathe is radioactive hellfire from the guts of Chernobyl, and they passively blight the world around them, poisoning the land and causing organisms to mutate into dragon-y freaks that serve it's will. Everyone is talking about how smooth and eerie the Fatalis transformation is (and rightfully so. It's beautiful and disturbing at the same time), but you did an excellent job conveying how the hunters help. Even if the one without a helmet had her face covered, you would still be able to capture how they felt. At first, they were confident, focused, ready to pounce at whatever they thought was happening with the sword, but as soon as it started growing, you knew that is one of the things they didn't expect and they, for lack of a better term, dropped their guard in surprise. As it kept growing, the fear in one's expression and movements while the others were frozen, either out of fear or awe, but none could tear their eyes away. It was evidently dangerous, unnatural, and wrong, but they couldn't stop watching it and couldn't bring themselves to move against it, even in it's vulnerable stages of growth. At the very final frame we see them, even after the threat has fully revealed itself, they're still staring at it, unmoving. You did a fantastic job with all of this. I've always admired your use of body movements in these animations.

No, Fatalis does not represent nature. For as chaotic and unkind as nature can be, it finds a balance, it finds belonging. For all the seemingly alien shapes the monsters in the series can take, they are still adaptations to their environment and evolution. Fatalis looks very basic compared to the many dragons we have faced but that is because Fatalis has not evolved, it has not adapted, it has not tried to find a niche. Fatalis can only be found in places like Castle Schrade because it has no place in this world or any other, it has no natural habitat for it is not a part of nature and does not belong.

Thing is, every other creature in the series does in fact fit in the ecosystem no matter how bonkers their abilities seem. Safi'jiiva terraforms its landscape via bioenergy manipulation, while its rival Alatreon resets the environment and bioenergy through environmental destruction. Amatsu and the Serpents' storms, just like real life storms, are actually good for redistributing nutrients and water across long distances. Nakarkos, despite its gruesome tendencies, is prey to Ceadeus. Yes, even the Qurios have a place in the ecosystem as parasitic species like Cordyceps serve as biological equalizers. And yet Fatalis defies every law established by this world's natural order. Every adaptation this... THING has only makes it more clear that it's completely wrong on an ecological standpoint. In fact, the Handler poses the most horrifying question of all: Why would a creature need so much power that it could destroy an entire country in an evening? What purpose does it serve to be so much stronger than every other living being in existence?

Never has un-zeroing scaled bone been so HAUNTING. But joking aside this made me remember something. Back in Mon Hunt Gen Ultimate, as we all know, in the village of Pokke there's the massive Black Sword. You mine it after every outing and it gives you parts that let you make the Black set. A very good Blademaster set particularly you play Great sword, fitting giving you mine from it. And like almost high armor in that game, lacking any down sides. Even after breaking into G.rank you don't need anything else from the sword, just the same stuff always givin to get it upgraded. Then later the big black dragon himself shows up and when looking at his armor bits it just kinda looks like what you had.. just 'BIGGER'. As if the old armor just grew 'OVER' you. One of the blurbs for one of the arms even simply says, "Your arms look like Fatalis's arms". And the skills it gives are the coveted Sharpness and handcraft. You're never meant to take off this armor. Fatalis in all his forms is the final enemy, the last task. Rathalos armor might be the one everyone knows. But Fatalis armor is the one everyone FEARS. Which seems to be the case with black dragon gear, giving Alteron has very similar blurbs about casting aside humanity and embracing dragons. Also, the fact it grew from a G.Sword and we don't SEE a fourth hunter puts so much implication to this. After all, why would a G.sword just be out in the middle of nowhere (HEH) when hunters are known to be in 4s?

I love the Fatalis lineage. They completely go against every other monster in the series just by the sheer fact that their lore and ecology feels more like an eldritch being straight out of Dark Souls as opposed to a natural part of the established Monster Hunter ecosystem. Although, contrary to how this animation portrays it, I would imagine Fatalis' regeneration takes time. At least a few years or even decades, I would imagine. Though, that does raise the question: If Fatalis can regenerate from a single scale, why doesn't it regenerate itself from any of our weapons or armor we make from it? Is there something with the process of making weapons in the Monster Hunter universe that renders it unable to regenerate from the parts of it that were made into our gear? How come wearing the Black Fatalis armor drives it's wearer mad, but the Armor of a White Fatalis gradually turns it's wearer into a new White Fatalis? Is the White Fatalis we fight in Monster 4U/GU actually the playable Hunter from Monster Hunter 2/FU? On top of that, what even is the relationship between a White and Black Fatalis? Is it a seperate species/subspecies, a mutation, or is it something as simple as a stage in a Fatalis' life cycle? What's the deal with Crimson Fatalis? And how exactly does Dire Miralis fit into all of this? The lore describes it as Fatalis' "incarnation", but what does that mean exactly? The more we learn about Fatalis and it's family, the more questions it raises.

Well, of course the regeneration from a single scale or a piece of armor thing doesn't happen in game because you wouldn't exactly want to wake up the next day and find your save file has been deleted because you forgot to take off your fatalis armor, therefore your hunter is dead. But in lore, it's safe to assume any piece of armor or weapon crafted from fatalis parts are to be ridden immediately to avoid it from regenerating.

Pokke Village has a giant Fatalis greatsword in a ice cave inside the farm. Besides the ice slowing down the regeneration, you also mine pieces of it off the sword.

Honestly that's straight up horrifying. Especially with how uncharacteristically calm he is. Absolutely fantastic. I kinda hope they expand or elaborate more on Fatalis' lore in the games going forward, seeing something like this happen in Wilds or something would be incredible if not for effectively destroying any chances of him having useable weapons or armour.

This is legitimately terrifying to witness, I can’t fathom how a creature like fatalis exists in this games nature, let Alone why it lives like this… With all that said, nice work!

The Nowhere King lullaby is a good fit for Fatalis considering he's like the king of a world that no longer exists.

"The Nowhere King" really does give shivers when you see it used in videos like this, amazing work Tea. Also, personal belief of mine, but I like to imagine that Fatalis would actually speak like the Gravemind does. That sinister speech would fit this dragon too damn well imo.

i wish we could fight a fatalis mid-way regen, or close to its final form, kind of like stopping a fatalis to fully form itself, making it an eldritch-like fighting scene

you get the sword, all seems well. you venture out on a resource gathering trip, when you come across an odd scene: each encampment is void of living things, and the wildlife are seemingly backed off. you find a few signs of a scrap; some jagras corpses make it clear they've been hunted, but the rustle from your tent stops you Its another person! But, the more you look at him, the more things seem off. he's tense, and staring you down like some kind of monster...

I'm just gonna say what we're probably all thinking..... *THIS* needs to be a black fatalis intro! Let the new generation of monster hunter players have the fear of god pierce them as they watch in sheer terror and disgust as what is quite literally the living embodiment of death and destruction in the world of monster hunter resurrects itself from a single piece of its recently deceased body
