just some fat wood and fat rope. this is a great substitute you can make at home and carry with you on your adventures.
sometimes it is hard to find fatwood naturally in the wild and this can solve that problem. as you can see it is an easy process with great results

Wax treatment also gives better wind and water resistance. Great work bud. 😊👌👌

Yes it certainly does. It's also extremely cheap and affordable. Thanks mate I feel I'm slowly getting my stride in and the video quality is improving each time. I also got a heap of solar ignition videos done this week so should be good for something different. Kind of getting claustrophobic working in my workshop lol.

@@devilrocksgaming just cover it with some heat shrink and you basically have the same as commercial fat rope stuff. 😁😉

Exactly mate. I do prefer the rope over the wood though. As you can see there's a lot more use in a compact structure

Yea I'm all about being self sufficient and saving a buck lol. I haven't posted in a while due to irl getting in the way. I do have a good back log of videos coming just can't say when. Got kids and Christmas coming this time of year can be hell. I have been doing a lot of this stuff live on my twitch as well. I should go through and re film everything in better quality. It was my first time really doing this stuff and have come a long way. Thanks for watching though and I'm glad it helped. The worst thing to look out for is over cooking it. It stops the wax from absorbing as well and is just less effective.

To think I could make my own sticks when all I need is the wax and rope. Thank you

Thanks mate. I have been slack and not posted for a fair while, life kind of got in the way. Will be back to filming and posting over the next few weeks. I'm still learning how to film and edit properly. Also looking to upgrade cameras and things. I may revisit all of these at a later date and re-film it all in better quality. Appreciate you checking it out 👍

I have since designed a better mix. 5-1 5 paraffin wax to 1 petrolium jelly aka Vaseline. Will put a video up soon. Been busy with family and work for a few years but looking to start posting again soon frequently. The mix is still 100% waterproof but 40% easier to light which makes it a lot more consistent.

DO NOT boil the wax, it's a fire hazard. Better yet, use a double boiler to heat the wax without risk of over heating.

To be honest I have never had an issue with it. Valid point though. I am planning on redoing a lot of these videos just got a heap of new camera gear and was looking at getting back into it this year. Great idea to have more safety invested in the videos though. I was new to filming and what not so there was a lot missed. Thanks for the input. Cheers.
