Unfortunately, he didn’t really know it was happening. If he knew, he could have just let go and not been victim in this slightly popular video! Positively, he is wrestling, he should be ok.
I once set the record for the fastest pin in my schools history. 12 seconds. Still don't know what happened. One minute looking at my opponent next I was staring at the ceiling.

I've been pinned in 5 by my team captain. To be fair, this was after a full 6 minute boute against another teammate as we were all vying for the same weight class position.

Yea he will get plenty opportunities to redeem himself I lost every match but 1 my first season that wasn’t a forfeit. But it was just that 1 win that made me fall in love with wrestling 🤼♂️. That was 6 years ago.

Hey I take offense to that, I was one of those lenky guys! lol I was 6' 3" wrestling 171 class. Funny thing is, before I started wrestling I always thought the idea wrestler would be short big and stocky guys. It was later that I realized some of the toughest and best wrestlers were tall lanky ones that could really spread out when opponents would shoot on them. Though personally I was never big on the spladle. But the cradle? I made that move my masterpiece. : )

People in the comments are hilarious. It was a sweet move! Props to the kid who pulled it off! However, acting like the other kid is a scrub or he should be ashamed is crazy! This happened to my teammate who went on to be a three time state qualifier and wrestled D1. We were all kind of in shock watching it, but people get pinned (it happens). Our coach went over spladles in the practices following, and I never saw another teammate get hit with one.

I would have been sooo proud if i hit the spladle that fast
Area finals, 1994. Best tournament I had ever wrestled. Had beat my arch nemesis in the semi-finals. Completely pumped and ready to win my first every tournament. 32 seconds later I'm walking back to my coach and he's shaking his head in disbelief. I felt that kids pain. I felt it.
At first glance, the tornado headgear made it seem as though he would be the one getting spladled. But once you see the warm up and stance, we knew.

@@rasta1017 For people (like me) who aren't familiar with wrestling, it's NOT obvious who won. I got the impression that the guy in black won, but only because he tensed his body at the end, indicating that he flipped over to that position on purpose. I thought (wrongly) that the you lose when your shoulders touch the the mat. Well, the guy in black was flat on his back, while we couldn't really see the guy in blue. Wasn't the blue guy's head on TOP of the guy in black? That's why it kinda looked like they pinned each other.
I hit this move twice in high school almost 25 years ago. Great move. I remember the referee was shocked both times and didn’t know what the heck happened. Also the gator roll, and golden armband.

In PA, the toughest state in the country, Jason Betz was a 3x PA State champion who only had 1 loss in his freshman season. 1995 His senior year in the state semis he was pinned in a spladle for only his 2nd high school loss. It happens to the absolute VERY BEST.
I'm not saying a word... my first match lasted all of 13 seconds.

Hope this kid got some recognition, the varsity captain my sophomore year got an 8 second pin and our coach refused to put it forward for a record in the state hs wrestling newsletter, because it was "too easy".

The algorithm brought me here but this is how well I know wrestling I've watched 4x no idea who won
I was a three sport athlete. I wanted to try something different in 7th grade. I was already on the basketball team but I got talked into wrestling by the coach. Needless to say I was 6-4 and realized that wrestling is the hardest, physically demanding sport that I've competed in.
I got that beat. 7 seconds baby! Junior year, coming off an injury… you can bet that was a night she’ll never forget. Wooooo!!

Why was he crying at the end? If he focuses on training he'll improve and build on his own special techniques. So lift your head up high, you did the best you could and at least you're out there trying.

I'm a ref as well... by the time he got in position to count near fall, let alone the fall, the situation had not changed, and it was clearly not going to change...it was a clean and clear fall and the ref in this video did the correct call
