The keeper took down the attacking player in a clear goal-scoring opportunity. Since he was also the last man back, he was shown a straight red.
@Falcon4224
8 жыл бұрын
+umcaracarente I don't think it was the type of challege issued that caused the red. Any time a player takes down an attacker during a clear chance at goal (usually a keeper or a defender tackling on a breakaway) the call is an automatic red. If a midfielder made that kind of challege near the center, probably would have been a yellow as the max punishment.
@cadenjohns2932

+umcaracarente at first I thought it should have been a yellow but then I looked closer. The goalie missed the slide and intentionally used his arm to trip the player. Avoiding an obvious score opportunity

@TheTRURUDBOI
10 жыл бұрын
Scott1433 Seen this a million times and it never get's called, or a penalty kick, or pk + a yellow is given. The ref gave no yellow, no warning that shit wont be tolerated. The red was too severe for the foul. The goalie spazzing and tripping the guy in the heat of the moment Should not have been an ejection. Thats my take.
@georgeyboy5256
10 жыл бұрын
Tru Rudboi Well your take on it is wrong, read the rules or go on a refereeing course, denying a clear goalscoring opportunity (foul, handball) is a red card. You don't get 'warnings' as you put it for that. Also doesn't matter how early in the game it is, imagine if it was 0-0 in the 90th min and the same thing happened. The keeper f'ed up after an unfortunate blocked clearance, he would have been better letting the striker score.
@TheTRURUDBOI
10 жыл бұрын
G Haynes Yes foul, agreed, Im saying foul + ejection to severe! PK + a yellow / warning it happens again your out. This ejection was in the first 5 seconds of the game! Not 30th min, or 2nd half after a ref can get a feel of all the players tendencies. To warrant an ejaculation. Thats still my take. sorry.
@Scott1433
10 жыл бұрын
Tru Rudboi Referees at this level do not have the luxury of picking which laws of football they like and which ones they don't. You are calling the referee weak because he applied the laws correctly. If the referee took the action that you are suggesting, he wouldn't be a referee for very long. You are criticising the wrong person. You obviously don't agree with laws of the game, but the referee may not agree with them either, but his job is to enforce the laws not make up new ones because he doesn't like them. A similar analogy would be that Police Officers may not agree with all the laws of the country that they police in. But they are governed by the ones that are there. If a law of the country is morally wrong, it's not the police officers fault, it's the people who put that particular law through. All you have to do is read the laws of the game and you will see that the referee acted correctly as per the laws. There is no time limit on these laws. If a red card offence is committed after 5 seconds or halfway through a match the referee does not have flexibility in law to give a yellow card instead because he feels like it. You really need to think about what you are saying before calling the referee weak, the laws are not optional they are compulsory
@YuseiRD10 жыл бұрын
The funny thing was they didn't even have their second choice keeper on the bench, who happens to be an old classmate of mine, so they had to stick a midfielder in goal for the rest of the match.

Lee Todd - In 2000 Todd moved on again this time to Rochdale on a free transfer where he spent three years until 2003. During this period Todd clocked up 50 league appearances and scored three goals for the club. In October 2000 he was sent off after just 0.1 seconds for foul language. This was the fastest red card in football history.

Referee was correct. Most, if not all of the criteria for "Denying Obvious Goal Scoring Opportunity" exists, thus showing the red card to the goalkeeper and sending him off was correct. The distance to the goal, no other defenders in the immediate area, direction of the ball to the goal, legitimate foul in a goal scoring opportunity... I would have done the same thing.

Actually, what tends to happen (in pro games) is that a player from the field of play gets subbed for the substitute GK, and he goes in goal - especially in a situation like this (so early on in a game). If the manager has already made his 3 subs, and the GK gets sent off, then yes, an outfield player will play in goal for the remaining time.

MrMcBong I have, I have heard it discussed many times on ESPN soccernet, tv and read about it as well on the net. I am quite sure Chris Martin is right, but the laws are obviously subject to interpretation ;)

Stephen Fletcher The problem is that such a law can easily be abused and that nobody can really can say if it was an accident or on purpose. So it is better when such situations are clearly ruled.

MrMcBong Well there is hardly any rules which are completely clear, including penalties, hand balls, red cards or extra time added on. So much is left to the ref. to judge.
Wow at the people that think the referee got this wrong. No player has the right to deny an obvious goal scoring opportunity and remain the game...
Most undeserved red card in the first 10 seconds. Keeper was doing as he should and the opposing player dove

Michael Jordan still working his trade as a defensive guard I see
Defender deserves a red card for that shocking pass back.
Notice that the keeper didn't bother protesting, he just walked off totally disqusted. He was frustrated with what happened, but he knew he'd earned the booking.

The keeper took down the attacking player in a clear goal-scoring opportunity. Since he was also the last man back, he was shown a straight red.
@Falcon4224
@cadenjohns2932

+umcaracarente at first I thought it should have been a yellow but then I looked closer. The goalie missed the slide and intentionally used his arm to trip the player. Avoiding an obvious score opportunity

@TheTRURUDBOI
@georgeyboy5256
@TheTRURUDBOI
Thats still my take. sorry.
@Scott1433
The funny thing was they didn't even have their second choice keeper on the bench, who happens to be an old classmate of mine, so they had to stick a midfielder in goal for the rest of the match.
Yes it is. Denying a goal-scoring opportunity is an automatic red card.

Intent is not required. Here's one of the red card offenses right out of the book: "denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player's goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick".
Phipp, Bubb, Binns, Lorraine, Willock, Williams, Pooley, Holloway, Booth, Skinner, Barrett. Surnames with double letters rule.
boooooring. sorry.

I am a referee and a goalkeeper myself and I have to go with Vazquez on this one, goalies slide with their legs all the time to get balls that they cant reach in time with their hands. In this case, the goalie had his hands up to block a shot and slide to try to and prevent the guy from dribbling by him. he was going to stop the ball. Ref got that call wrong...
The fastes one is Lee Todd ''Fuck,that was too loud'' when the referee blowed the whistle
Reminds me of when Lehmann got sent off in Champions league final against Barcelona.
That guy DIVED in fact that the goalkeeper didn't hack him he was going to get the ball!
If you tried watching for under 2 minutes then you'd realise the red card was shown pretty quickly
The fastest ever red card in history is two seconds, sent off for foul and abusive language after the referee blew kick off and he said 'f*** me that was loud'
The ref has no choice. It's an automatic red card for denying a goal-scoring opportunity (DGSO).
seconds later the backup goalie was ejected for blinking
Referee was correct. Most, if not all of the criteria for "Denying Obvious Goal Scoring Opportunity" exists, thus showing the red card to the goalkeeper and sending him off was correct. The distance to the goal, no other defenders in the immediate area, direction of the ball to the goal, legitimate foul in a goal scoring opportunity... I would have done the same thing.
Not to mention they have Steven King as their manager. What an all star roster.
If you send a player off before the game it isn't a red card, but the fastest is for a player yelling "F***, that was loud" after the starting whistle.
This team is so unpopular, even the stewards clap when they walk out onto the pitch.
Mr. Umar khan gave me IELTS lecture, excellent teacher, extraordinary person
I like how the referee celebrates as well at 2.32 .
That No.3 was like what the fuck have I done.
Funny how the ref runs with the scoring team like yeah guys we scored
Actually, what tends to happen (in pro games) is that a player from the field of play gets subbed for the substitute GK, and he goes in goal - especially in a situation like this (so early on in a game). If the manager has already made his 3 subs, and the GK gets sent off, then yes, an outfield player will play in goal for the remaining time.
Vinnie Jones got the red card after 3 seconds when he played for Chelsea against Sheffield united in the 1992 FA-cup.
You didn't. You might've invented the rules, but Johan Cruyff invented football.
His defence totally fucked uo his day lol :')
It'd be more than epic if this was his debut match.
Red team had the Worlds Worst defensive line formation in history of Futbol/ soccer.
My six year old son was in a game last season when an opposing player did the same dangerous maneuver twice on one of my son's teammates. The refs let it go but my son's team protested and got a forfeit win.
0:45 I didn't know Michael Jordan came to England to be a goalkeeper.
well that escalated quickly
We all wanted to see how fast it is that the keeper get the red card. Not the whole match. -o-
If it's a question of number, your point is entirely valid...
the ref is my pe teacher 😂
Well that escalated quickly
This is the oldest and the longest of the fastest red card ever😂
The red card was given approx. 10 seconds after the initial whistle. No need to use 9 question marks for that...
This is what proper football looks like. I regularly go and watch a team in the Blue Sq North because I can't afford to go and watch United all the time.
To this case, this defender should be given red card.
that defender must have felt really bad, i think
not the fastest a player got on in 3 seconds because the ref was beside him at kick off and blew his whistle and the player shouted "holy shit that was loud" to get a red card
DOGSO is a textbook ejection (Denying Obvious Goal Scoring Opportunity) If the keeper didn't foul him, it's pretty much guaranteed that they would have scored
You don't replace player's that are sent off, but rather a player from the field of play goes into place of the keeper, therefore losing a player in Forward, Midfield, or defense.
Am I the only one that noticed Paul McCarthy was an assistant for the red team?
