Laura, Laura, Laura... I am 61 and hail from the tiny country of Lebanon. We ate this exact potato salad all the time. The only difference was that we added green onion to it. And when you said, "add tuna" to it, I felt we must be related! Thank you for your sharing, I love your recipes.

I've grown up eating this as well, it's a salad we eat a lot here in Morocco. That's the exact same recipe as my mom's ! Here a story: I'm very thankfull to you Laura and I love you so much. I started watching your videos and I became obsessed. I started cooking in my engineering school and there was that classmate who was always brought by the smell. We started eating together, and then cooking together every evening. We watched your videos and tried different recipes. Cooking brought us closer and we fell in love with each other like little crazy toddlers. That's since 2013. We are getting married this summer :) Thank you Laura (l)

So glad you posted this recipe! I lived in Germany for a year back in the 1990s and my landlady used to make this kind of dressing for all of her salads-potato or green-that she served at ever lunch and dinner. Brings back great memories! The only difference is she put a pinch of sugar in her's to reduce the acidity.

That is what I know as Italian style potato salad. However I was introduced to southern style potato salad about 20 years ago and never looked back. That latter uses mayo, mustard, eggs, etc. Delicious!

Growing up, one of the very first things I ever did in the kitchen was help my grandmother prepare macaroni and southern-style potato salads. It was a tradition every holiday that we would make it together before the family came. In recent years her declining health limits what she can do physically so I have taken over full duties for the "holiday salads" if you will. I love the memories attached with such a simple dish and how it can get someone interested in cooking :)

We are Christian Armenians from Iran & what we usually have on Easter dinner table is the same as our Christmas dinner (Jan. 06) which is fish (usually fried but I prefer roasted), chicken, white pilaf (often with barberry) or pilaf cooked with dill & broad beans (both of these pilafs are Iranian traditional dishes), & another Iranian traditional dish called "Kookoo" which is made with chopped parsley, dill, garlic chives (this one is a green which is very common in Iran but not in other countries & the closest thing to that is garlic chives) & other optional greens, eggs, salt & pepper & it is cooked like frittata. Armenians cook the "kookoo" with these ingredients but iranian muslims often add barberry & walnuts. I hope you like our tradition :) Happy Easter!

Laura, I am making this today. My mother, who was Italian, made this a lot. She passed in 2015 and I had the cravings to make this. BTW, her way of making it is just like yours. Sometimes she used apple cider vinegar, but usually it was lemon.

We ate this growing up but we used red wine vinegar not lemon and added fresh green beans to the mix. Love this recipe.
