Fastest player at Euro 2024 revealed
It hasn’t been Kylian Mbappé’s (25) tournament so far. The France captain has netted just once, from the spot, against Poland, in Euro 2024. He has been hindered by this mask, which he has had to wear as a result of the broken nose that he sustained during a collision with Austria’s Kevin Danso during Les Bleus’ opener. The mask severely limits Mbappé’s peripheral vision, with teammate Randal Kolo Muani joking that you “can’t see anything” whilst wearing it.
Mbappé’s struggles at Euro 2024 are well-documented, however, the new Real Madrid forward can at least comfort himself with having set one record in the tournament.
As revealed by the official Euro 2024 X (formerly Twitter) account, Mbappé has clocked the fastest speed of any player at this summer’s tournament in Germany (36.5km/h). That is faster than Spain’s Ferran Torres (36km/h) and Slovenia’s Benjamin Sesko (35.9km/h), who rounds off the podium.
Another Frenchman, Théo Hernandez, also features in the top 10. The AC Milan full-back is the sixth-quickest player at the tournament so far having registered a speed of 35.7km/h.
