Holes are probably from a gig, flounder aren't generally taken with spear guns, but gigging them from boats and on foot is pretty common and a really good time.

If you buy flounder already cleaned/gutted at a fish market, just bake them whole & the whole side of the fish is pure meat, just pick it off with a fork, maybe season with some salt & fresh lemon, about as simple as ramen. 👍
