@@bradhardy2629: Yeah, too bad the FORD 427 SOHC Hemi was banned by NASCAR and eventually NHRA due to the crying little girls at chrysler (now FIAT). One can only imagine what the FORD 427 SOHC Hemi engine would be like today had it been developed throughout the years. Be that as it may, the first American V8 Hemi was in fact the 1947 Ford/Ardun Hemi. Where do you think chrysler (now FIAT), got the idea from? Even Garlits admitted that himself. LOL.

He made it to Semi's in Vegas and got a whole lot of points in the process. Within -15 of Hagan. Going to be a qualifying slug fest in Pomona. @@Loulovesspeed genius, you do realize the engine whether it’s branded or not is based on a Hemi motor. Chrysler/Plymouth/Mopar. All pretty much one and the same for the most part. You lose.

@@cmcc1971 - Duffus, you do realize that Chrysler did not invent the Hemi ? The Alfa Romeo straight 8 engines of the 1930s were hemi head design. Carl Benz made and patented a hemi engine in 1879! Ford made a hemi head SOHC engine in the 60s that was significantly more powerful than anything Chrysler Corp. produced. All Chrysler did was popularize it in a large displacement V8. As I said before, today's drag racing fuelers are generic builds and do not utilize any Chrysler Hemi components.

​@@Dartgame340Connie Kalitta is the only triple crown winner in nitro racing and he did it with a hemi CAMMER Ford. Don Prudhomme, and Pete Robinson also beat the Dodge Hemis handily. Dyno Don owned the match race circuit with his cammer powered Mercury flopper. Gas Rhonda won A/FX with Cammer power. The 426 isn't the be all end all. Lastly, with oe cast block/heads/and crank no hemi has gone 300.4mph in a mile, 5.88 @ 256mph in a 1/4 or 4.09 @ 184 in the 1/8. Fords twin cam engines have. No HEMI in top fuel shares a single thing with oe ones other than bore spacing and basic architecture.

It's Not a FORD ! Not one FORD part on it !!

What world are you living in ? Not Ford powered by any stretch of the imagination - the block (as are almost every block running nitro is based on the 426 Chrysler Hemi)

Always loved drag racing,,but to me,,if it's not a quarter mile it's not drag racing....if you want to make it totally safe make the race 100 feet... I know..that's rediculous...but?

Interesting when a Ford wins the Chevy and dodge fans moan and cry and want the rules changed in their favor. Ford ruled in every type of racing years ago until the Chevy bully cried and cried to get rules changed in there favor. NASCAR, sprint car racing, etc., research it yourself. Oh by the way the first hemi was a ford!

I get what you are saying, but modern Top Fuel engines are totally removed from anything Mopar ever produced or engineered. The reality is all these cars are totally custom engineered, one off race cars with sponsorship stickers on them.
