Ah i remember the good ol days of making knex guns... At my peak i built this massive 5 foot long sniper rifle whwre the bolt has a 3 foot travel distance and multiple of those super thick bands you often see on broccoli. I had to make foot holds on the stock because the draw weight was so extreme you had to pull it back with 2 hands. It took a lot of trial and error reinforcing it. The ammo was yellow rods with paper fins that curl up to allow it to go into the barrel. First test firing sent it straight through the drywall in my room. Outdoor testing had a range of 340 feet.

wow! sounds amazing, i wonder how effective it would be in a Halloween trick or treat time😂. i havent actually gone on one so i wouldn't know. i am coming back one last time with gun better and more simple than all my guns combined. i will explain everything, that has happened in my life and what this means for the future.

It is really cool! But I feel like it doesn’t have enough range. I tried to upgrade it by putting smaller bands on and twisting them a bit but still. It takes a while to shoot sometimes. Like a bit of a delay. I will keep looking to see if I could make it better 👍

i had the same problem with the larger mags. my latest guns have smaller mags to give them more power without the rubber bands putting to much force on the firing rod. i have built two better firing guns so far they are on my channel if you are interested

hence my latest build is a sci fi gun, that looks like some sort of rail gun, but if you are using real magnets then you are a few steps ahead of me😉

rubber bands shouldn't be too hard to get hold of, maybe a different one would work better

The blue rod with the 2 red things on it doesn’t go it

The rod that pushes the smaller rod down the barrel doesnt line up for some reason

maybe it needs some adjusting. try to pushing the firing rod down the mag. once that is done try to adjust the angle of the mag. if this doesn't work. maybe some of your red bars are slightly bent?. i hope this helps

i slowly collected the knex over the years, i got my first knex when i was about ten. mostly off eBay buying the knex new is too expensive. although my youtube channel has got me into blender and film making

@@hazel-hx6un the best set i can recumbent is the trail rider, it is a red land rover. i found it quite good for the pieces, and ideas

these are very easy to get hold of, i like to make sure i use easy-to-get-hold-of pieces, i tried to find other mechanisms that could replace it but they didn't work. i am very sorry if this has happened, because back in the early days i also hated it when you take ages to half build something and there is a piece you don't have and can't replace. i have some tutorials coming out that don't require special pieces.

For me it’s really bad at shorting anf it only travels a few inches

try adjusting the rubber bands to have more tension. also look down the barrel (obviously not loaded😉) and see if the inside of the barrel is all aligned. also this gun was more for the looks than the shooting far, but not to worry since new upcoming gun can shoot much further that both.
