Built basically the same thing a few weeks ago and loaded 45 fruit crates onto it, made it up the hill to the trader with no problem. Using the bigger pipes between the bearings helps a bit but the system is still a little floppy and you just have to learn to live with it. You can also add a bearing to the outside of the wheels and support it from there to make it more rigid.

Never knew you do Scrap Mechanic, it used to be my favorite game until I got Stormworks

FYI max lvl controllers have a really high torque value. I made a massive mobile base that looks like a bus, has refineries, a craftbot and a shit ton of chests on it that is powered by 2 max level controllers spinning 4 big wheels at the back and it goes really fast and can even climb really steep roads. It doesn’t flip over as well since i placed the chests under the flooring, i haven’t flipped it over even once

I tried to make a bearing powered car. The "axles" just kept twisting themselves into knots and then falling apart. I even tried supporting the "axles" from both sides but it didn't matter. It works great at first and tricks you into thinking it's great. Then you actually go out for a long drive and after 3 or 4 minutes the problems start. Before you know it your car is flopping all over the place and flying through the air. Then you find it floating in the ocean 2 days later. The bearings in survival mode just don't have the strength. Even on my normal gas engine car, that I made light weight, the steering and drive bearings occasionally flop around under hard turning.

Same thing happened with me. Though I never found my car. Figured it was out in space. Good to know I may find it someday.

The bearings glitch that you just described is caused by lag. People report it happening most often near warehouses, where the game has to load in a lot of extra objects. My suggestion is if you plan on going into unexplored territory have the lift in your hand while driving. If the bearings suddenly sag and your car bottoms out it means the moment you hop out of the seat it's gonna start flopping around. Quickly pick it up with the lift, set it down, then wait a minute or so for everything to load in. I've been using bearings cars almost exclusively and it is easy to work around.

Susp solidx2 Susp Wb_b_l_b_b_b_l__l_b_b_b_l_b_bW W=wheel b= bearing _l_ = T joint pipe positioned upside down _ = regular pipe (I prefer to use short) The suspension does not interfere with the axle rotation while still bearing the weight. There should be less bending in the axle. This *MAY* reduce your chance of the bearings bugging out. Also note that if you have lost a vehicle if you know it is nearby use your connection tool and you may be able to spot colored dots in the distance. You can also purposely die on your vehicle. If the bag drops and doesnt roll off you can encapulate it in blocks. Make sure you leave at least one item in the bag and you will have a permanent beacon so even if your car is an hours drive away you can always see the bag icon. I always have one at my base and on each vehicle just in case. (Your base is the one with many beacons close together) Hope this helps.

Thanks, I really needed this. Mine is purposefully less quick because I'm still learning, but this saved me soooo much fuel grinding. Only 2 drive wheels with 4 bearings per. For some reason reverse doesn't like to steer and I think it might be because the torque is hazing the tires. I might try a switch and another controller for a reverse gear sort of thing and see how that works. lol

Well done, had this build in mind but havent put it into action. Nicely done, great video. My only thoughts have been that's stopped me is putting the pivots above the suspension so you can have it turn even sharper. I do a lot of mining and lumbering so I need to be able to maneuver quickly and precisely. Just a thought I've had to make front and back wheels work together to turn.

I made this kind of a car like week ago. BUT I made it from a metal 3, got some nasty drills and a lot of storage space. Well I loaded it with: 20 foodboxes, 10 containers and even with 2 redwood trees and some small ones... and still no speed drop

my problem with this setup is to handle the glitches. If I got 5 bearings on each side - the freak out often (in Coop Games). I try to use the big pipes but still freaking out. Do you got some ideas on this? Other Prob is to park the car exactly on one point (may be packing station). The bearings just turn more then needed and the car allways go up to 10 meters befor stopping... :-/

The first minute + of the video...THIS, kids is why you never EVER grow crops more than three days in a row. ALWAYS take a one-day break to reset the raid dynamic when the raids start getting too hairy for your defenses.

I have piston engine vehicles that are faster than that. I personally uploaded a tutorial of a piston engine that is about as fast as this. It's way cheaper when it comes to component kits. But there are even faster engines that can go quicker than you'd ever want, that just use pistons.

Add sawblades around the base and bots dont know what to do or where to attack

@@robertschulz5135 Greenies can swim, farmbots walk along the bottom of the water to get to your island. If your little island is up on rocks it can save you from the farmbots. The wiser move is building ontop of a cliff.. then nothing can really get to you. Make two large chests and set up a pump at the closest water source. Swap the chests out whenever you need more water.

The issue of bearing engines are you cannot use them on the same wheels you use to steer so your control lacks alot

@@MrNJersey I've tried making the front wheels use controller powered bearings but the car slows down drastically as it can't use the cumulative effect of the rear wheel drive. How are you maintaining speed while also using a front/all wheel drive?

It worked perfectly for me the first time but try these: Is your controller fully upgraded, on loop and at maximum speed? Are your bearings all set to turn the correct way. Are any of your wheels impinging on the frame while turning? Try adding about 20-40 heavy blocks (cement is best) to the front. Then try moving the blocks to the back. Note that his can heavily affect your ability to steer. Try adjusting your suspensions to add more pressure to the front or back tires. Note that this can affect your ability to steer
