I'm an old Boomer from the fifties/sixties, and I absolutely love this song. IMO, it's among the last of the truly great rock hits.

fastball's one of those bands that everyone knows at least one of their songs and recongnizes it right away, but no one knows who the band is.

thank you. i miss them very much. Ryan would be 18 now (they died in 1998) and able to fly out to see his aunt and fish with his uncle. see the ocean, etc. Ryan was born on the same day as me, Sept. 27. what a joy he was. He kept asking me if i was gonna visit that year for our birthday and i just couldn't make it. They died on Oct. 5, 1998. If i had gone it is possible i would be with them now, in Heaven. not my time i guess.

good point, usually is very hard to hear the bass, but there are a lot of bands that turn it up in studio, but live is always hard to hear it amazing preformance by the way, i love this band

@ Texasyesfan: I guess you're right. The Verses are a little bit familiar with Tom Jones' Delilah from 1968. (@ GMadd9) But I think that the Chorus is NOT from pachebels canon! I listened to it and I think it doesn't sound like it, even if there might be A, E, F#m or sth. like that in there. There are so many songs that have the same chord-scheme but still they are different. RESPECT TO FASTBALL! LOVE THIS SONG! Thanks for your help ;)

@kanadier1 Talking about Fastball's The Way. don't know if you got an answer to your question long ago?!? I Don't really know if it is a cover or if maybe they borrowed some part of the song. I? think it sound so familiar cuz its in a vary strait-forward rock style. And it has a strong Rockabilly "lean". I suppose its this way for a reason. It makes it so catchy and modern ketch. Remember Rockabilly is from the 50`s

It sucks that they are stuck playing such small venues like that now.

It's good that they finally got somebody to at least sit in as a 4th player live. They often just play this as a 3-piece, which is really hard because it needs two guitars, bass, drums, and keyboard. But the bass player isn't boogie-driving the choruses at all, so the whole thing falls flat. The groove is missing.

It is definitely an original song, but I understand why you might think that. It definitely has a 1970s-rock vibe to it - especially in this version. The album/radio version is great too but slightly over-produced in my humble opinion.

@kanadier1 It could be a familiar reminder of the song "Besame Mucho" which was covered many a time throughout the years. You can really hear it during the verses chord progression.
