Cullen Kelly and others teach this more in depth. Also, instead of using gain or gamma to adjust, try the green channel only of the curves. Gives more control.

This ^^ Plus, you don't have to disable channels 1 and 3 if you only adjust the sat channel (green). But I prefer using the warper in HSV mode instead of this method since you can also control and shift specific hues.

This is byfar the simplest method to correct skin tone. Simple but does the job pretty well.

Definitely a helpful little tool. Between this and HSL, I am usually pretty solid on skin tones.

this is great stuff man, since I started using resolve i have a backlog of your videos to catch up on lol though final cut is nice too, it's pretty crazy how granular and whatnot resolve is especially with color grading.

this is great. Ever try adding color in camera to classic chrome? I shoot CC +3 or 4 color and it pretty much handles the lifelessness CC can cause skin tones to have

Eh I have but haven't loved the results as it leaves a lot less room for grading in post. I only use this HSV technique on certain shots that feel like they need it.

@@blasepivovar yeah, that is true. I suppose it hasn’t been a problem for me since I only use CC when I know I won’t be doing much grading, if any at all. Anyway, love this technique of yours and will definitely be trying it out. Love your work bro

@@blasepivovar hahah I hope you knew it xD HSV stands for hue, saturation and (brightness) value while HSL is different interpretation of the hsv. Actually I don't know the difference either xD but it does change sth in the grade ^^

tried your technique exactly and it did nothing for me. I was working with 16 bit Arri Alexa footage so perhaps that's why it just wasn't needed. I don't even know what HSV even stands for.

it didn’t work or it wasn’t needed? hsv is just hue, saturation, value (aka brightness)
