Red is not a good frequency to use for this. It's why it wouldn't work at all on a window, because visible light travels through glass. You would want to use infrared frequency, which I believe is what the first ever laser microphone used; it didn't even use a real laser in fact, but rather an IR beam. UV should work as well, as long as it's high enough frequency. Higher power output and more isolated receiver would very very helpful as well of course (as you know).

You have a lot of good ideas. I don't think I had any flourescent lights on in that room at the time, but you are correct that they do produce a 120hz hum. Regular incandescent bulbs produce a 60hz hum. The AC lines in the house can produce the same hum in the amplifier circuit itself if it's not shielded properly. I honestly have no idea what caused the sine wave in this recording. If I measured the frequency it might help narrow it down.

Do you have any experience of laser transmitted sound, I believe my neighbour may be targeting our house, 5m away with sound, you can hear it outside but it is audible in our home, I would like it blocked as it is annoying as much as sinister

That sine wave I heard in the long distance test has me very curious, did you have fluorescent lighting in that room? I know that fluorescent lights operate at very high frequencies, so maybe we're listening to your lights? I'll bet that a narrow bandpass filter (passing the laser's color) would be really helpful. I was also thinking that maybe measuring the mirror deflection might be a good step towards optimizing the hack, perhaps a very small aperture in front of the photodiode could help?

Rick I love your project! ... I think what you want ideally to use is a Blue Laser. Blue wavelengths refract or change directions more. This greater variance would be helpful to your project. Glass absorbs IR. Reflectance from glass is generally only 4%. So sticking a 3mm reflective foil target dot on the glass would be best. In use, this would obscure laser light from entering the room from outside. Also, the energy from the laser is not focused, a quartz glass lens is needed or a more powerful laser.. ... A second way to greatly improve this, could be to use a reflecting telescope with a polished first surface metal reflector (not glass) Then mount the sensor diode at the tube's first surface mirror's convergence point. Reflecting telescopes are designed to look at stars, So it should work well for what you are doing. I love this project Great Job Rick and Great idea!

Really nice video, it's possible that window glass inertia is too high for the cell speaker and does not really vibrate. You could also try to put the photosensor inside a cilinder to filter the photo-noise

Okay, so I see some issues with why this didn't turn out well. Like others said, you need to protect the sensor from ambient light. I'd put it inside an opaque black tube to block out all light except what you're pointing it directly at. Another problem I see is geometry and detectability by your adversary. You need a way to ensure that you're actually positioning the sensor where the laser lands AND pointing the sensor directly toward the point that it's bouncing off from. My solution to that would significantly increase the cost of the build, but also greatly improve quality and function. use an infrared laser instead. You can then use an infrared camera without IR lights to find where the beam lands. Keep the camera attached to the sensor and calibrate it to point exactly where the sensor points. When you find where the beam lands, place the sensor and camera there, then use the camera to aim the sensor at the window. When positioned correctly, the beam should blind the camera. Many infrared cameras also have a microphone input, so you can use that to connect your sensor. Most cameras also have built in recording capability upon sensing audio or motion, so if you manage to clean up the ambient noise by shielding it, you should be able to automatically record. A Raspberry Pi and IR camera module would be rather affordable and princely serve this purpose well, but you can find deals on IR security cameras for less than the cost of that if you know where to look.

A stronger laser output, a more sensitive light detector, or maybe a signal amplifier between the Photo-transistor and the amplifier to act as a pre-amp may help. light is pretty sensitive to any interference. A solid mount with a very heavy base would certainly improve the project. The idea being to keep the light source as still as possible. I have also seen success with a cell from a solar panel used in place of the photo-transistor.

You need to increase the SIGNAL/NOISE ratio. Notice that Your system worked perfectly in dark conditions and in proximity. Maybe using an INFRARED LASER or a powerful BLUE laser as a source will be a good idea. Also using a small array of sensors (maybe nine, and an amplifier) could help. Also putting the sensors in a small Cassegrain telescope could be a good idea (But for infrared sensors You will have to use silver-coated reflective surfaces and maybe cooling with solid CO2)

longer wavelength lasers work much better; less distortion. Which is not to say laser mics work well at all. Any fog, precipitation or dust in the air and all you hear is white noise. Same deal if there is water running in the room.

By reflecting the laser off of the reflective surface, you essentially modulated the amplitude of the laser beam using the music as the modulation source. When you said it sounds like an AM radio, that is because you CREATED an AM radio, which is literally amplitude modulation. The only difference is you used visible light, while a radio station uses a much lower frequency light that's invisible to us/

AFAIK a real laser mic should use FM, not AM. It is an interferometer that measures the tiny distance change by mixing the sent with the received laser wave. Similar setups are used to make holograms. You can e.g. detailedly analyze the partial vibration of musical instruments (violin body etc.) or loudspeaker diaphragms this way. An extreme application of this is the astronomic gravitation wave detector.

Use ir sensor from old tv, vcr , etc mount it to the eyepiece of a telescope mount the ir laser to the telescope sighting scope after calibrating and sightimg in the laser to the scope you will have a very accurate device using a tint piece of reflector tape like a small dot a hole punch makes and sticking it to the center of the glass of a window you could get a clear signal from maby 5 miles away especially at night. If you modulate the lasar giving it a carrier fq. That could then be detected as in an am radio receiver or cristal radio to extract the modulated audio. This would also help to eliminate external noise and to mak it even better you could use supressed carrer demodulation ar a deferential am/fm demodulating method to have a way of tweeking or cleaning up weak signals from long distances or double pained windows or even to listen through walls.

How does that work? How that solar cell turn the light into frequency?

  • @glegalee

    @glegalee

    9 жыл бұрын

DarkMaMon It's not a solar cell, it's a diode that detects light levels. The vibrations on the mirror effect the laser light that reaches the diode in the same way that the sound waves travelling through the air would effect the microphone. Because you are not trying to detect sound waves but instead trying to detect vibrations in a solid object the reflected, light from the laser acts as the medium in which the signal is transmitted. It has to be a laser that gives the light of the way they produce the light. A normal focused beam of light from a lamp or LED would dissipate too quickly through the air and be lost where as the laser can be detected over longer distances with minimal power requirements.

Last example failed (and will always fail) because the laser pass through the clear glass window (majority of light waves are only refracted, only few are reflected). You can tape a mirror piece on the window to make it work. The story about this gadget has to do with placing a very small prism in the window which refracted the light waves in 180 degree (if you know the story)

Your story does not match the preamble. It proposes that one can hear what's happening in a room across the street due to reflexion of laser beam from the window glass. And no actual solution is given. And even more. This method will not work due to these facts: - rfelected beam is not bright at all(see Nitin Kumar's comment) - reflected beam must change it's direction(due to rotational vibration of the lighted area of glass) or your gage will give constant signal. - reflected beam must not travel much or it will hit the transistor only ocasionally to give you some random spikes of signal - even if reflected beam travel is just as long as to cover partially sensitive area of the transistor(it is tiny) with the reflected beam(and does move) at all times and you do hear the spies, they will not be sharing any secrets but wondering, why do they have a laser beam in their room :)

I really need someones help to prove to police I'm not hearing things. Me and my family are being psychologically tortured and because the tech being used is microscopic and unknown to police, they've put it down to mental health and now I'm stuck in situation with my mum and sister both showing suicidal tendencies but unaware its because of 4-6yrs of psychological torture and abuse to see the physical and psychological impact and how dif a person could be made fo look (my sisters been diagnosed with EDS within this time) and since looking into this iv noticed how the national and global statistics actually reflect the proof of this technology being around for at least 8yrs with its main causes being mistook for Menopause, BPD EDS, Schizophrenia and also in the deaths statistics for deaths by heart attack (mostly caused in sleep) and the overdose deaths caused by opiates as the 1st thing it causes is Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome which shares the exact same signs, symptoms and side effects of heroin withdrawal and at same time if addicted fo crack cocaine too then overuse of caffeine and other stimulants symptom worsens crack use and also drug dealers have been targeted with this tech to experiment on drug addicts that have enough trauma to be traumatized repeatedly and tortured into desperation once done with as this is how the tech is being destroyed and none to very little evidence left as this tech is heat seeking and attracted fo dark things n spaces so ashtrays, lighters and other drug paraphernalia is understandably collecting most of it if not all then burning throwing or losing. Leaving the person tortured to such a low state that also stand little to no chance of ever being caught or investigated given the stereotype of crack and heroin addicts and the stigma of mental health and police also making it easy to set the person up to sound and look like every single red flag of an undiagnosed mental health condition so this advanced technology can go undetected and disguised as mental health or hormone related due to adrenal fatigue. This is my problem iv been ser up over past 4-6yrs n last 2 of which iv been tricked and traumatized into a state of constant fight or flight and believing the threats being made and dangers I was being warned of by voices I could hear and who turned out to be several people from my past and an old neighbour who set up several of the people involved in setting me up so that in future now 13yrs later they've been set up to be the 1s held responsible so that they almost definitely join in setting me up for heart attack that will kill me before I get taken seriously by anyone or police. Iv uploaded some videos with microscopic view of the technology I found on my black pen and on skin and audio recs of what I'm hearing 247 just about audible and subliminal psychological trauma experiments then tailoring the torture specific to my weaknesses etc.
