Shortening the skirt was the right move and I think making the top a little shorter would pull it together.

My vote: Leave on the skirt overlay! Gives the skirt interest and flare. Otherwise, it's just a regular skirt. The length is just fine as is and wearable to church.

This is so cool! My daughter was married on the same day 06/07/08 !! We didn’t have the reception at our place but they took pics in our back yard before church. We are blessed with beautiful grandchildren that make my heart sing just like yours do. Thanks for sharing your piece of God’s creation!

You are so right about skirt/dress and trouser lengths! It can make all the difference from something frumpy looking or being on trend. That's the part in sewing that takes the longest for me, deciding how long something should be 😂 That skirt shorter looks fab and I love the overlay so keep it! The blue t shirt looks great against your skin. Instagram does my head in, I miss things and lose them all the time! It's just too complicated for me 😂. Hugs ❤ x

It was my mom's 88th birthday on the 7th. We didn't think she was going to make it. Last weekend she was touch and go, she was slipping away. But a few days ago, she woke up enough to ask for her favourite, butterscotch ice cream. The next day she demanded to be wheeled into the garden. It was a beautiful day. It's like she has 9 lives. We're meeting Sunday to celebrate at the nursing home. 3 kids, 14 grandkids, 12 great grandkids so far. Most of us will be there.

Cute outfit! I thought it looked great longer ...of course you know what's right for you. I'm not a fan of the high-low look either. I would love to have a greenhouse! Looks very nice!

Hi Stephanie! Regarding length of tops, I am finding that lengths vary based on what I’m wearing them with. I have a couple skirts that look frumpy with a longer top but when I fold them up, the skirt looks great. My goal is to make a couple shorter tops to go with those skirts. Years ago I actually wore frumpier clothes than I do now but they didn’t look frumpy then. Geez, maybe they did though! Fast forward (way too darn fast) to my 60’s and those same clothes look way too frumpy. Same with dress and skirt lengths as you discovered with your new skirt. I actually prefer longer dresses/skirts so I don’t have to deal with how my legs look (hairy 😂) but again running into that frumpy thing. Why is life so difficult? Ha! If that was the most difficultly I had wouldn’t that be wonderful? I’m loving your greenhouse stories. It’s nice that drills have the reverse feature for un-screwing. Reverse drill and seam ripping…the story of my life. 🤦‍♀️😬😀

Love the skirt!

I read many moons ago, to shorten all your tops to high hip. It was more elegant and more flattering according to this woman. At 5'6", I have 40 in lower hip, but 36 high hip and this seemed to make sense to focus on a smaller area.I liked it and shorten everything to the top of my hip bone. Now my tops don't have to expand 10" to the hip, which RTW Tee shirts rarely do~!

My 90yr old mom recently passed away and her cookbooks (many handwritten recipes) and sooooo many albums, pictures going back to early 1900's. There must be at least 50 albums. We're trying to figure out who's going to be the "keeper of the albums". I actually toke my 16yr old g'daughter into Walmart after one of the visits home to sort out stuff(still but done).... And got her to print up 20 pictures on her phone. I'm going to do this more regularly with all my gkids. There's a lost generation of pictures between my kids and gkids picture taking.

Really like the top and really like the skirt. I think the top is too long for the skirt, it looked great with the pants but this skirt probably needs to show more to shine. Try something shorter on top and see how it looks.
