Keep peddling the love BicycleDutch can't watch this enough! I grew up in a US small town where my only road is a 45 and 55 miles per hour (72 - 88 kph) highway with no bike lanes, sidewalk, or shoulder. This kind of content really helps me to figure out what to look for someday when I move on to better places!

Ohh that feeling when you cycle during the summer time and you go down hill with the wind in your back..like a little one person rollorcoaster...the sun shine on your skin, cool breeze through your hair, the birds chirping and all you can see is blue skies and green meadows from your cycle path..... heaven. Its so relaxing and peaceful....nothing beats that feeling. I live in Zwolle and work in Hattem and didn't know about that cycle route yet...thanks I will be cycling to work now.

Looking forward to doing a Netherlands camping tour by bicycle next year with my young family. Your videos helped us make the decision. The only problem, is how to safely get from my home in the UK to the ferry port in Harwich. We'd be very happy to cycle it as part of the vacation, but not on British roads with drivers who think we have no right to be there!

Don't you know someone with a car and a trailer, to put your bikes on. And then gives your family a lift to Harwich? Bikes on a train is no option either?

In the north, where I live, a lot of people still wear wooden shoes. It's even alowed as safety shoe for some professions. A lot of my friends still use them. We're not old fashioned, we just like wearing them. :)

That thing detects a cyclist and then turns on the lights. To save energy the lights aren't always on at full strenght.

+Rick Houston I believe that so long as they're speed-limited to something like 45km/h (around 28 mph, similar to a racing cyclist) they are okay.

  • @HelenaRG71

No the ones with blue plates are (normally) limited to 25 km/h. But I've heard they are very often cheating so they go faster as they would be allowed. So some cities in the Netherlands wants to ban them completely from cycle paths because they are also loud and stinky.

I have watched seven videos from this channel today and seen only two people I would describe as obese. I wonder how prevalent obesity would be in NL if cycling were not so ubiquitous. In the USA its the obesity that's almost everywhere and the cycling for everyday tasks that's difficult to observe because it is less common.

It's called a cattle grid and can be found anywhere in the world where cattle, or deer in a deer park, needs to be prevented from crossing to another place where the grass is greener. Rattles a bit when you cross them on a bike but is more practical than moving a fence.

It is not a bicycle path, but a residential street, so motor vehicles, like tractors are allowed.
