We just got to this part in my history class , this is very helpful thank you so much
thank you for all you do
I got about 3/4 of the way through the Gulag Archipelago last month and couldn't finish...just dissolutioned enough to know that is something to stay away from at all costs. In particular the descriptions of the "blue caps".
I would just very much like to point out the origin of the fascist symbol at 0:36:It comes from the Romans. Ok so a high level elected officials (Praetors of a consul) in Rome where followed by 6-12 bodyguards (respectively). These elected officials also could have the power of Imperium, also known as the authority to command armies, and dispense Justice. Each of these bodyguards always carried a set of sticks, like the one shown. It was only sticks when the bodyguards(and elected official were inside the Roman Pomerium.(Weapons we’re illegal inside the pomerium.) When the elected official and bodyguards exited the pomerium the bodyguards then added an axe to their sticks. Henceforth, because the axe and sticks were carried by those loyal to highly respected, and powerful Roman leaders(Whom Mussolini used for nationalism/fascist propaganda purposes), their axes and sticks came to represent one duende to an authority. Also this development would not have been likely, or perhaps possible, without the renaissance, as the renaissance rediscovered many forgotton Ancient texts, accounts, etc. Source: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pW2lzrB7ctKsd5c.html
