I’m so happy someone has done a respectful biography on Dana. No matter her personal demons, she was a sweet beautiful woman who died too young. I grew up in the 1970s and had a massive crush on her. Sure she made mistakes but we all do. Because she was somewhat of a celebrity, she was under a microscope of doing no wrong. How very sad that is. Today it’s even worse. RIP beautiful Dana. You are missed..

I worked with Dana in a show at the Rio called Tropical Heat in 1991... The producer hired her for the show because he was a friend of Gary Coleman's manager... who knew Dana very well and asked her if she wanted to do the show... she jumped at it... The publicity and her fame did not hurt our ticket sales at all... we had many long talks because I gave her a ride home about three nights a week after the show and she told me the whole story.... she was a wonderful charming individual.... she always came to work on time and never missed a line... when the show closed I never saw her again....

I lived in Las Vegas in the 90's and when getting my car washed at franchise giant 'TERRIBLE HURBST', I spotted her working there, during the hand drying end phase. It was an awkward split second, as we looked at each other, and I gave a nod with a smile. I didn't want to say hi or do anything as we both understood I knew who she was, she didn't look happy at all. That's a terrible way for me to act? But as it turned out, it was her, and not at her finest. RIP Dana, you are now at peace . . .

I want to say thank you for sharing this. Dana Plato had so much going for her. She was obviously gorgeous, but she was immensely talented as an actress and a wonderful person as well. Tabloids like TMZ make me sick. They profit off of lies, they love seeing failure and they hunt for misery. Dana made some poor choices but she didn't deserve her fate. When your life crashes around you, your family passes away, and your alone, it can devastate you beyond what you can take. Then to see tabloids like TMZ, and all those rag magazines showing you as a complete loser and failure your life falls deeper and deeper into the abyss. So many lies, so many times people's privacy gets invaded, I can't imagine how much that hurts someone, especially a young woman who just wanted to be happy. This story is tragic because everything around her what people did to her instead of trying to help her. She deserved much more. If she had maybe trained more for the ice skating ⛸ she loved? Hollyweirdo's decide so many people's dreams, and their fates as well. It's just sadness to know she went through so much pain alone and watched as people profited off her misery.

I live in the UK and when different strikes came on air I was about 6. The show was my favourite. Coleman was my favourite but all the characters were dear to me. Dana wasn’t a stand out actress but she was good enough to have progressed her talent into more adult roles has the path been there for her. She is dear to my heart, my young heart that saw the purity in her soul. Such a loss to see her leave this world so soon. I just hope young stars now have the welfare they need. These young people haven’t developed an adult brain and they need to be treated as such. They are vulnerable and should be treasured.

i get a sense that she grew up in show biz from an early age. not realising that that show biz plastic bubble is an insecure fickle parallel universe. upon leaving different strokes it hit her and the downturn to her early death began. she had no one to soften the blow to her expectations from the entertainment world when they never materialized. broadly speaking, successful actors are a small minority in the roster of the many sag card holders. most of them are left with broken dreams that never materialized. her pitfalls were particularly painful as was the way she died. she definitely could have done much better given half a chance. hollywood has turned it's back on her and dana has paid the ultimate price.

Very well done. Truth bringing to light that just because an association with drug problems was most likely an accidental tragedy.

Wow. I always did like her. I had no idea all of that happened. Thank You. I remember her mostly because she was pretty and always had such an outgoing happy personality. I met someone one time while she was still around. Now it makes me wonder if it was her. She looked and acted like she was when she was older, which i never saw until now. I just figured she was rich out in Hollywood out there somewhere like most Of the other Stars. You never think about coming in contact with them other places. Sure never think about them becoming broke. I met so many celebrities that way, only to find out Way Later that it was actually Them. Unless you practically slap someone in the face and prove you are a Celebrity, its really difficult to identify and believe someone is really the person on the screen. Mostly because there are so many copy cats, and they Do Not appear in person anything like what you see on the screen. Also there is generally a long time between creation of things, and release dates, so you see youth on a screen and they are already much Older.

I can not understand how she got like that with so many nice guys with money that had a big crush on her. I had a big crush on her just like many guys growing up. So sad .she is ok now on the next journey. God bless her.

She always seemed like a nice girl to me, and I was sorry when I heard of her passing. She made some bad choices, and drugs were one of them---they lead her to do some things she would normally never do

Wow Dana was quite the doll when she was young. If she'd stuck with figure skating perhaps her life would have turned out more positive.

When I was in college, I bumped into her on campus in a parking lot and gave her directions to where she was going! Many years later, I walked past Gary Coleman at a local mall.
