I love the smell of toasted hoof in the morning! lol. I randomly stumbled on your videos, and I keep on watching even more of them. I'm a city boy with no intention of ever having a horse or a farm but the videos are interesting. I'm over here taking mental notes about how I would do things. No idea why you don't have more subscribers. No annoying music, well filmed, looks like you really know what you are doing, and it's an interesting look at something that most people in the world have never seen in person. Thank you for your videos.

Its good that you check to see if its hot. I'm sure you have learned the hard way a few times. Nothing like sparks and molten metal to remind you when you slip up.

I like a man that gets the hoof right first, and then makes the shoe fit that hoof, and not the other way around. I also like that "Cadillac" of shoes you made, although I've never noticed all of those holes in the Crest before. 🤠

I was wondering why you used a frog plate. Was it due to the flat feet and giving the horse more support underneath?

I've never been owned by a horse that had hoof issues so the various shoe "designs" are while seem self-explanatory to some degree I have a question about the use of the putty? I'm presuming it's meant to cushion the frog/heal? My owner Reno (

I started enjoying watching your vlogs. Even the horses really needs a good fot care. But when I saw you fitting the shoes and smokes in the air, i thought you hurt the horse🤔😑. Good luck and you are doing a great job. I think horses are thankful

You got some great skills! It is really satisfying to watch. How do you determined where the nails go? I can see you put them in different places and not at the same spot all around, also not the same amount (not just referring to this particular video). Is it due to how the horse move and stand on its hoof? Thank you for sharing!

  • @farrierlife

Nail placement is down to hoof condition, angle 📐 of the wall, personal preference and within the white line. The amount of nails depends on what sort of work they do and hoof condition. The less nails you can get away with the better.

Question: what do you do when there's too many holes in the top of the hoof, from past shoeings, and there's no more solid areas to nail without blowing out pieces of the hoof? And im guessing there's no other way to nail the shoe without the nails coming out the top? Very AMAZING job you're doing too. Just found you and i just watch these relaxing videos of yours for hours...lol✌👍

yknow for years of my life I didn’t know ‘thoroughbred’ was a specific breed of horse. I thought it was the horse equivalent of the term ‘purebred’ so when I read horse books about thoroughbreds I would always be thinking ‘a thoroughbred *what?*’

Im a new viewer. Forgive my ignorace. Do you need to get training (School/Trade/Vocational) to be a Farrier? Or You got a hands on training from GrandPa and Dad then you. I live in rural farm area before we like knew everyone in the area. The Barber,The BlackSmith,The Basket Waver,The Carpenter (GreatGrandPa & GrandPa),The Baker,The Fisherman,The Farmer,The Vet, but never The Mr.Farrier. Maybe their was a Mr. Farier but never get to meet one,coz we have only water Buffalos, Cows,Goats and Pigs. You have a very interesting Job.More power to you.
