Farming and Fixing!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
To start off this morning we are going to be feeding and cleaning up in the dairy barn. Then we move onto the fixing. Farming and fixing go together like peanut butter and jelly whether we like it or not. Overall it was another great day on the farm. Thank you all for watching!

Grew up and worked on our dairy farm…. I think the saddest day in my life is when I was 16 years old and dad decided to sell out go to work in town..When the semis came to haul the cows…. bull and all the calves..I was really sad… I walked in the milking parlor and the loafing shed..no more sounds of the cow chains clanging…. And I know it sounds crazy but I missed the smell of the corn silage….the hot steam…. But dad got a job being the supervisor for the county garage… He was happier…. Great video guys…brought memories of our cows and our dairy…❤❤
no truer words have ever been spoken "easy jobs are the hard one's they just look easy"
The number one thing that makes your small farm successful is your family working together. Many hands make small work of many jobs. Keep it going and much success in 2024! Happy New Year from all of us here at the Otter Creek Valley Farm, Eau Claire, Wisconsin
We made hay racks from rock elm that the old barn was built out of and we did use a 10 pound sledge hammer to drive the 10 penny nails. We did drill pilot holes too we still use those wagons and the planks are well over 100 years old. Sometimes I think about that when I load hay on those wagons.
Great video Gierok Farms
Great share folks!
I love all that you do! It means everything to my husband! Wish I could get a hoodie for him. He was FFA in high school in Culpepper,V.A. In the 80’s.
Always predrill boards it seems to work good every time. Great job and great family
Happy New Year from Nebraska. Really enjoyed this video. God Bless!
Always little jobs that need doing. Great video. All the best 🇬🇧.
I feel your pain and frustration trying to drive nails through hardwood. After many years of bent over nails, I finally decided to predrill before pounding. It does wonders for your blood pressure.
Happy New year from Ireland
It's always something on a farm lol!!! Another great video and I am so amazed how farm life is. Can't wait till next video
❤THAT DUMP TRAILER IS SOOOOI USEFUL !!!!!! THANKS FROM TIM IN LE SUEUR MN 😊
Thanks for sharing the video guys. Always something to do on the farm. Looks like y'all do a great job keeping things repaired and in good working order.
Thanks
You should buy a small square bale bedding chopper throw your straw in that and you can grind your straw fine and a lot easier to work with does a better job staying in the stalls
That's how I had my near death accident, little snow & ice, not enough to put chains on until I found myself sliding backwards down the mountain on some ice. The only thing that saved my butt was a big old lonely hemlock tree on the side of the mountain and crashed into that or I'd been over the bank! We ain't doing that again! Tell Dad to put some oil on that spike when nailing oak!
Our old red barn's oak beams are near imposible to get a nail into. Good day of doings.
Great video always some repairs to do
We drilled holes in our oak boards and put in carriage bolts less chance of getting them coming loose? Just what we did?
When driving a nail into oak my Dad always said to spit on the nail.
Daily chores and miscellaneous repair jobs keep you folks busy!!! Sometimes it seems that for every item we fix, there are five more waiting in line. Always seems to be time well spent taking care of the odd jobs in the off-season rather than using valuable time during field work seasons.
thank you
Good to see you all. Always enjoy watching your videos. Happy New Year.
Great awesome videos
Happy new year to all of your family from Ontario Canada I love watching your videos and I wish that I was still farming ❤
When my dad and I would use old oak boards, he would dip the nails in grease and then you could drive them in. Sounds weird but it worked.
When I watched the round bale video I was waiting for the whole side of the wagon to break off.
Have you looked at poly liners for the dump wagon? Silage slides out like butter, and the HDPE stuff comes in various sizes and thickness. Just a thought, and great video. Hope for higher milk $ in '24!
Very Nice and Happy New Year!!!!
What we use to do for winter was bring down the air pressure in our tractor tires ,Much better traction in the ice & snow
Great video, always lots going on. I was thinking we hear what Mason is doing but rarely see him, and then we get a thumbs up from him! LOL. So, was he eating carrots or Cheetos? LOL. Thanks for the video and Happy New Year!
Winter chores. Have a blessed New Year
With all the saws you guys have I’m surprised you don’t have your own saw mill? I saw you cull some nice lumber in a previous video.
Another great video
As long as I have been watching you’re channel you don’t use saw dust I watch some other channels and they use it to bed with in the milking stalls It makes it to watch a channel that doesn’t use it
My grandpa always told me to dip your nail in manure to get it to pound in easier 😂
Watching all that hammering reminds me of an old cliche. “ He who is good with the hammer thinks everything is a nail. “. And this reminds me of doing chores in the winter but we seem to always have everything freeze. 🤦♂️
If you want a big job drilling holes and bolting your manger would stop them from ever coming loose. That's how they were in Dad's old stanchion milk parlor.
Looks like you were also doing some fabricating... but there's already a youtube channel for that, LOL!
Love you guys
If you are going to drill holes anyway why not replace with lag screws? Will last longer.
I see that someone mentioned you guys having a saw mill. When I was a boy grow up on our dairy farm we used sawdust for bedding. Wha do you think of my suggestion? Alway love watching you guys work, I can still smell the silage and hay.

We used sawdust as well. The only issues you can get into with sawdust is you gotta keep after it and keep fresh. It absorbs so well and can get easily packed into places you can get some nasty bacteria which if a critter gets an abscess in her hoof can get really bad fast. You can get the same kinda thing going on with any kind of bedding though. There is also cost. For some sawdust is cheaper or more expensive. Depends on your situation. Pros and cons. Pros and cons. Nothing is perfect I guess.

Also, stay away from walnut sawdust. That stuff is poison to farm animals. If sawdust is changed regularly, it shouldn't cause many problems.
Been watching HOLLYWOOD HOUIRGAN I see!!! Thanks good man

I used to watch all that guy's videos, but got tired of his reviews of free junk people sent him. Sometimes the entire video was like one long advertisement. I unsubscribed but they still would be in my suggestions. First time I ever blocked a channel, but I don't miss seeing it.
2024 they make nail gun now!
Wow are we going to white wash this year
I visit a ranch of deary castle,to diversity they will breed caws with Belgian Blue, and have Great results on the stoker operation,on a market that Holstein catle will not bring on its own11:32
rub your nails on bar soap when driving nails in hard lumber ,,, it works, pre drill if you can
Would Lag Bolts be a better option?
Do you empty the manure? Out ever day
How many cows do you milk a day
No bedding for those young ones?
Put some grease on the nail
Crap happens doesn't it!
Dip the nails in some oil and they will go in better.
Oi Oi tudo bem t Oi galera tudo bem tudo bom tudo joia beleza
Коммунисты😅 звезда весит😅
Oak boards drill and coach bolt nut on the out side 😢
use concrete nails works
Just my thoughts, I enjoy your videos but think you would be better served if your videos were more current, rather than a 2-3 week delay. In your area, weather events change as seasons change and I think you loose people when you showing things that are that delayed......
