Farmer offers goat herd to clear away your unwanted foliage for a price

IDAHO FALLS - For the last six years, weed abatement hasn’t been a priority for Eddie Walsh, who lives on one-tenth of an acre on 12th Street in Idaho Falls.
As a result, the backyard is overrun with weeds and shrubbery that would’ve taken a lot of work with a weed whacker or lawn mower to clean it up.
The 33-year-old felt there was a better way and that led him to The Copeland’s Farm in Aberdeen, who provided 55 goats to come and clear the land by eating the foliage down to the roots.
“It’s a little more of a natural way to help clean up the property. Plus, it adds a little bit of excitement,” Farm owner Zakary Copeland tells EastIdahoNews.com.
Copeland was at the Idaho Falls property Wednesday overseeing more than half his herd as they went to town on Walsh’s yard. See the goats in action in the video above.

I had this done when I lived outside San Francisco and it was fantastic. 11 goats for a week and they cleared out my whole overgrown backyard. Plus they were so beautiful to share my land with and neighbors were so curious and they left lovely manure. Love to do that again. Totally worth it.
This is a great idea. I’ve suggested this for years. People look at you like you have 2 heads! We’re for the environment!?! This is clean removal the OG way!

O.G.? You mean, “Old Goats”, right? 😂
Happy goats. Happy property owners. 🐐😀
They get rid of the weeds AND spread fertilizer at the same time😊
I suggested this to a firewise committee I belonged to in Pocatello, but some would rather spend money on a crew from OR (who were best in the field for clearing out ravines). The liberals wanted insurance companies to cancel insurance for anyone who did not take out trees & other foliage in the area including the steep ravines. Members of certain agencies & a fellow citizen like me just looked at each other in disgust. Nothing ever happened, and the committee hasn't met again since a few summers ago. Nothing. I still say goats were a great option. Cut the fuel supply down, let it dry up.

could we just skip the “liberals did it” line for a change… I’ve been a longtime ‘goat proponent’ to help with the invasive vines that are smothering our indigenous plants and trees here on the east coast… but with all the bruha about ‘government’ spending… seems like it won’t be til price of fuel is so high and mowing equipment worn out that such a ‘new age, progressive, hippie, socialist’ concept like goat mowing would be considered as legit… oh, and as an east coast liberal (worst kind I’ve heard) I actually agree that the suggestion of canceling insurance for those who don’t ’go goat’ is improper… unless the property owners are failing to clear brush etc that poses a fire hazard for everybody… liberal and conservative alike
Here in Lethbridge Albert they have a herd of goats that eats all the unwanted foliage in the river valley. They are there for only the summer months.
What a awesome idea
Rich people on mountains in Los Angeles have done this for 30 or 40 years now. It's brought the pricing way down for like 1 acre lots gone crazy. Great work, goats are weird until you get to know them.
Stop it with the dry weeds!! I want those green leaves!!! 😂😂
Great idea. 😊
Wheres the "after" pic? 😮
We need this in Tennessee in the towns near me that are over run with Kudzu and poison ivy vines that grow on the trees
Tree trimmin...no extra charge!!!
Nice life! Eat, take a break, eat, take another break😂
Where I live in Ohio, there is a little town that says goats mowing. They are tied to the outside of the fence so they won't wonder into the road.
That's a huge heard for that small area. I borrowed 2 houseey goats from a friend a few summers ago but they refused to eat 4 of my horrific weeds of hoary heads, foxtail, cockaburrs and another I'm not sure of the name but when it dries out it looks like big long straw colored thorns all through out. But they aren't as sharp n hard as you'd know of most thorns like roses tiny thorns etc.
I would mive far away
👣👣👣👣
As a bonus, they'll even fertilize for ya. 😉

Mooo
And a yard full of dung

Good idea, but they will jump on your cars and trucks, denting them.
