Thank you guys for supporting and watching the video! A few things! 1) the roof has more support then what is seen in this video 2) I did use okay sand but since it has been switched to construction sand for the dust bath areas 3) used chicken wire because this isn’t their main protection just to keep the chickens inside it during the winter Thanks again you guys are the best🐥😁

So nice to finaply see someone else using natural branches and giving them perches to jump around on!
This is awesome! Any chicken would be proud to have a playground like that. Gave me some ideas too.

This is perfect. We have fallen tree limbs and spare tires we need to use up, and this run is perfect for what we want to provide for our chickens. Thanks a bunch.

I think you need to reinforce your roof if you're expecting a lot of snow. Gr8 job on the build out of the coop

8:19 I loved this scene “so I open it, and then I dump it,” then the chickens are like,”you’re just taunting us now.” 8:49 we tried the tire-dustbath but…. I will warn you we got mice in there so check the rim. Your channel is very inspirational, Good job you guys!

I can't wait to watch this video! We sort of have the same set up for our chickens as well. Your chickens will love it because they will be jump in the branches and swing and have so much fun 😅
Thank you for giving us some ideas! You have a really nice set up for your chickens.
Very cool. The only problem I see is rats learning of the compost and they easily squeeze thru 1" chicken wire. I made a mistake not using hardware cloth and have a problem with rats....they come at dusk and dawn to clean up the mess under auto feeders.

Yeah i thought that you’d be better off putting things chickens couldn’t eat in that mesh circle as they’d be better off eating the greens rather than just the bugs
Love that you keep it all so natural and s re-purpose a lot! They are happy chickens indeed 🐓💫
Looks Great. May want to do more re=enforcement on the roof. A good snow will make it crash down.

Yes! I have added more support plus a few beams inside to hold it up!
The wind is gonna blow that roof off or the snow is gonna cave it in. Probz wind before the snow gets it.
I am not sure if that roof can hold any amonth of snow

Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩❤
Great ideas... I'm curious, what did you use to hold the roof panels on? Thanks for posting. 🎉 I also wanted to mention that the large flat oil pans sold at Lowe's and Home Depot make great containers for sand bathing.
I LOVE IT! ❤ Creative, caring and considerate while also being functional and inexpensive! PLUS...it looks great!!❤
My chickens love the swing.
Those chickens are living a great life 🥰 thanks for sharing ❤🙏.
D.E. Is great for chickens I add burned out ash from the barbeque with it and sand. My chickens love it and it keeps the parasites at bay. LOVE the play ground.

Beautiful ❤ your chickens looks healthy...love the coop
Dont give up on the swing. My chicken love theirs. I little heavier rope though
Prediction #1: They will dust bathe under the coop where it is dry and not in the tires. Ditch the tires. Replace the tires with a log. In evenings if it’s not cold dampen the log and surrounding area. During the night his will attract grubs and bugs. In the morning the chickens will have breakfast. Prediction #2: They will enjoy the new roosts. Every week or so change the location of at least one. They will appreciate the variety. #3: I’ve had a hen who enjoyed the swing, but the vast majority do not use it. Chicken wire: You know what’s best, so just do it. As you yourself mentioned, chicken wire keeps chickens in, but doesn’t keep predators out. The metal at the lower level will keep out some predators, as well as the wind. Should a predator gain access the chickens will be more vulnerable since they’ll be trapped in an enclosed environment. While the weather is warm enough for them to free range, do your flock a solid and put hardware cloth on top of the chicken wire. You won’t regret it. Diatomaceous Earth, as you mentioned, is perfectly safe in the open air, so long as it’s food grade. When I apply DE in the run I do wear a face mask, preferably KN95, because my face is so close to the dust. Also I mix it with dirt in the run (not the enclosed coop) at dusk when my chickens are in the coop. Best wishes.

Yeah I was thinking about that for the dust bath spots!
great. I will raise more chickens in my garden
Thanks for your clear information, I love that
The roof as you have it in this video will not hold up very long with snow on it. The rain will run off but snow won't just slide off...unless you spray it down with olive oil before each snow fall or a snow storm also you can heat up the bottom of the clear roof with rope lights or something. First thing that needs to be done is turn all of the roof's 2×4s a quarter turn so they are not so saggy...and put a couple more 4×4s vertically to support the roof.
Man, here I was calculating the cost of lumber to build these very things, and then I saw your video. You're a God send brother.
You did a fantastic job! Your girls 🐔 are so blessed to have your family!
Happy Chickens Happy Life. I am sure those chickens R loven that new build. GREAT job! Thanks 4 sharing! Cheers ! 😎😎
I had white peking ducks for 7 years. They were cool. The eggs tasted great.
Nice video, the chickens might get a taste for eggs if you put them in the composte
Fantastic education for us as first timers!! Thanks so much!
I like the idea of the coop because I didn't know how I wanted to build the coop
I am so inspired. I just built my outdoor run for my free rangers to have a snow-free area over the winter. Now I am going to add toys and all the things.

Great job. I sweep my roof off if a heavy snow comes. I'm out there doing their water and food so its no big issue. Glad you added more support. Snow gets heavy. Happy chickens!!!
Great job!!
You could raise that swing to use it to hang heads of lettuce etc for them to reach up and peck at.
I can’t imagine that roof holding a Michigan snow fall
Good I enjoy looking at chicken
This is so darling! Thank you for sharing.
Cool ❤
Great idea
The roof of the coup does not seem strong enough to hold more than a dusting of snow. Otherwise, your new coup looks interesting.
I’d like to invite you and your daughter to my home to help me build that for my chickens! We have a set up and always looking to improve ❤ I love your addition!
Love it, great run! Looks like you might have to support the roof more for the snow 🤗
Wow, briliant! Chicken enrichment programme!
I've made a big roosting ladder with branches. I leaned it against their coop and the chicks love it!
All the chickens were interviewed and agreed on camera ,,,
Wow I love it. God bless you always and your family.
clever chicks
Love all the use of natural elements! Thank you for sharing!

we have those panels on our greenhouse. they handle it just fine in iowa. lots of snow. he just needs to screw it down a little better. we also have a gutter/rain barrell set up and it catches half a barrell of water with a good rain.
Muy hermosa casita de gallinas 😍👍🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔 hermoso gallinero
Good to see you're putting the needs of the chickens first over the needs of humans. Unlike those dreadful Eglu houses which haven't thought of how it is to be a chicken. Chickens can't stand on something the thickness of a pencil like their ladder rungs and perches and they can't perch comfortably when the roof is on their heads. Your house and run is great. Thankyou.

It is difficult to take this video seriously when you used chicken wire. Your hens are so susceptible to prey with only that wire. It rusts and breaks easily and possums and raccoons can literally tear it open. Please make sure you protect your hens with hardware cloth. Your girls deserve a safe space. Critters will attack during the daylight...just chased a bobcat out of our yard today and we live in the a city area. Love your playground idea. It is brilliant. Taking notes on those aspects of it. Was really unique and well thought out. Please use that same ingenuitiy to keep them living long healthy hen lives. 😊
Thank you. Love your description

Good job! This is simular to what I have been planing on building 🙂 One adjustment I would make is adding some more rungs to their ladder. I noticed the spacing seems to be hard for them to walk on. But it is very cool👍🏻
I just found this video. Great ideas in here. Now next weekend I will be able to do one since I have most the materials! Thanks for the natural perch ideas. Also thinking on building a bit bigger and have other small birds in it. Maybe some quail.
I like it, I was thinking about enlarging our chicken run, now thanx to you I have a better idea of what I will be doing. I love your channel, keep up the great job.

Fantastic work, man! I didn’t think about putting metal on the bottom to protect from wind. I hope that I soon will have the courage to build a nice run like this! I’ll be watching your rain system video soon. It’s awesome how this all works as a system, with proper planning (re-purposing fallen trees, using old bedding as compost, etc). This style of run looks so simple yet I fear failing at creating a similar design. I really need to get over that fear along with the fear of other things as a new/first-time homeowner. Right now, I feel like my skill level is basically just enough to make a hoop coop lol. Just have to embrace the learning experience! The compost food tower is another great idea and I really like the dust baths. My backyard is almost all dirt/rocks, so I’m researching which bedding would be best. The mulch seems like it’s working well with you! Very cool how the chickens can go under the coop. Great job and for what it’s worth, I really appreciate seeing a good dad. That’s awesome. I can tell you’re a great dad. PS I did just level out some ground and put in 2 raised garden beds! Can’t wait to give those a shot.

What a nice run. I have 100' of electric (but never turned on) fencing around my run, and also put up a bunch of large tree limbs like you did. They love the limbs and used them all the time. Finally, at the end of the vid you started looking at the lens. Appreciate it when TYers do that. Makes me feel like you're actually talking to me.🙂 My coop has a tin roof, but was planning on replacing it with that stuff like you used.
Well, whatever you are doing, the chicken will feel amazing.👍👏
Good job .

This is a lovely scratching area for the chicks. Their house is so cosy. The trees are brilliant for them to see out and have some exercise. Are the wire holes around the compost a bit small for their beaks i wonder. Overall you built a lovely place fot your chickens. One thing only..if they are used to their foraging in the yard they will miss that so much. Thanks for sharing..great ideas here for everyone❤
I like your ideas & recently built a run similar to this. I want to add the tree limb perches & a swing for my hennies & roos. ❤️🐓 Peace, Love & Chickens!
