I grew up on a dairy farm south of Rockfalls,illinois, we had a International gas 400, an M , & a Super C, which my dad bought new in 1954, all great tractors, we used that little SuperC for several things, like pulling in wagons of oats , hat, straw , big Rex chopper wagon full of haylage, & cornlage, i agree with you, these little Super C's are surprisingly powerful & bullet proof, you cant hurt um, that being said these tractors were built in the 50's is another thing that makes them very impressive, my dad is going to be 96 July 23, 2024, my brother took over the farm & farms 4500 acres but he still has that little Super C, you could go out there today and will start right up like always, when i was like 15 yrs old i painted that C with a paint brush using International Red & got all of the original stickers for it, that paint job actually turned out pretty good lol still looks good , you have a good video 👍

Just brought a Super C and a bunch of implements with it, one of them the same plow as yours! I'm stoked, but I already have done my plowing, so will have to wait til the fall. Side note: Been playing around with the 2-point fast hitch, wow, I don't have to get off the tractor seat to hook and unhook implements, wonder why the fast hitch didn't become more popular, it's so dang slick.
@FarmallFanatic

@@FarmallFanatic Ha, well that's too bad. Feel like the fast hitch would be nice on things like a tiller or brush hog, etc.
@mabmachine Жыл бұрын
The mounted plow sure makes the difference on the light weight Super C. The down draft "suck" of the plow equals traction. Put a trail plow behind it and the heavier H would prevail. Should be awesome once you get the wheels set correctly and a bit of weight on it. Plus the Super C should do better on fuel economy.
@mmielcarek3046 Жыл бұрын
I take it you moved the wheel in to put the tire in furrow. Uncle used to put a single strand of wire in the axle groove and turn the wheel so the weight was on that skinny wire instead of on the axle and groove so you could push it in easier. He would do both wheels even though you didn't need to. Guess he didn't want to explain to the people. I did notice steering with the brakes. I found this at BF Goodrich in the late 70's they called it 'Tire Fill'. It was about 20 pounds a gallon and would semi harden to give you a ride like air but as long as the tire carcass stayed together it kept rolling no matter what poked a hole in the tire. It was for equipment in scrap yards. I put new skins on the front and if kept the front end down just enough. Northern Ohio we never saw front wheel weights until the compact tractors from Japan came out. Old timers said the tractors were nothing but cast iron. We only had calcium for tires. Now you have windshield washer fluid or beet juice.

I sure miss the Super C I had. Gave it to my brother with a 2 disk turner , 2 point 2 disk turner. At first I used an Allis pull behind turner. It did okay, but the Farmall plow was awesome. Like I could never get over just how little fuel it burned while doing it's work. Now have a 140 Farmall. I love it , but it doesn't pull a turning plow nearly as well as the Super C. All my relatives uses M's and H's. They looked down on that Super C. But it was just big enough to do hard work, and nimble enough to work around the sawmill.

Nice! Sounds healthy under load. I had a C with the mounted 2 bottom, not the fast hitch model. I moved only one wheel in to match the furrow, and it pulled sideways something fierce. I moved the other wheel in and it plowed like a dream. Have you ever tried planting buckwheat for the deer? Plant in June, harvest in October. It’s a fun crop to watch grow. It also pulls out some of the phosphorus that is tied up in the soil. Then when the roots rot, it comes available through mineralization. Works like a charm and no weeds to worry about. I’ve harvested it and made pancakes.

@@FarmallFanatic the prices are starting to reflect that too. There’s a 58-64 non-runner near me with 3 attachments for $1500 which is cheap to me. Not fast hitch though
A Super C with a 2 point fast hitch is the next one on the list for me. It seems like the perfect 2nd tractor for what I'm doing. This video only makes me appreciate them more. 👍

Looks good Big improvement over the little cub.. she sounded good , and looks like a plowing beast Wish we had fast.hitch on one.of our c

Because International was too stupid to let John Deere have the patent or at least use the fast hitch.. it would be what we use today instead of the three point hitch

@@FarmallFanatic Ha, well that's too bad. Feel like the fast hitch would be nice on things like a tiller or brush hog, etc.
Nice work Gino lots of fun. I noticed that gauge on your tractor had paint on it. You can use carb cleaner sprayed on a rag and will wipe it clean . Have a great day
@FarmallFanatic

I don't think that gauge has worked since 1955.
Turnin dirt is always fun!

I’ve harvested it and made pancakes.

have one one of best all around tractors built good guy
you keep a chunk of railroad tie you drive the right tire up on and let the plow down and level it and lock the the levers in place. for the opening up the field then after the opening rounds you set the left tire on the block and level the plow and lock it in.. and a tricked out Super C will out work a 1940 H on distillate or K1

That super C is doing an outstanding job on plowing with that two bottom plow but I'm if that tractor could pull a three bottom plow if you put wheel weights on the back and wheel weights on the front if it would pull a three bottom plow just asking I mean no more than three bottom plow and he could of modified the engine on that tractor what do you think I mean he put in a new clutch and if he put a new clutch in it then you know he did modified the engine alittle because the back tires doesn't look original on the back I thought those back tires were narrowed than those

Your plow is way out of adjustment! First, your first moldboard is turning way more soil than the following moldboard. The plow should be plowing in even furrows equal amounts of soil being turned by each moldboard.. I also noted in your video that you are aggressively fighting a severe draught issue. Take it back to the shop for more adjustments.
