    Awesome. Thanks for sharing. Using sunlight and seawater is ingenious. I guess I am so used to seeing coral farms in a warehouse that it never occurred me to grow them like they grow in the wild.

    I love this, getting the info on how aqua-culture is done. In Holland we have a company called: De Jong marinelife, and always wanted to visit them for a tour to see how this works. Thanks to you I now have some knowledge on how it's done. Keep up the info and loving what you guys do for the hobby.

    Only concern I have with this facility is the frags ability to acclimate to artificial led lighting, if your culturing these frags with just sunlight alone success rate when putting these frags into home aquariums may be lower, I’m not sure

    After watching this video, I finally can conclude that white natural light is the key to grow corals. Blue light is pretty much for us humans to watch our corals glow in the blue light. Thank you so much, I will adjust my white light to 12 hrs a day. And blue light for 4 hrs. Awesome education video. 👏

    Isn’t the consensus that corals need blue light and will grow under just blue light but not white light? I’m pretty sure natural light isn’t equal to the white light you get from T5’s or LED.

    Hi Jim! We will find out for you-- we've reached out to ORA and will let you know what they say ASAP. :)

  • @WaterboxAquariums

    @WaterboxAquariums

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Jim! Here is their response: "The best clam we offer for the average aquarist would be the Derasa IF given adequate room to grow into the aquarium. This particular clam is extremely resilient, can withstand water parameters where a system is heavily fed, can tolerate a wide variety of lighting (the brighter the better for any clam though) and is one of the faster growing clams. Obviously, with its growth rate being quite a bit faster than the maxima, it will need a larger system over time. Overall, easy to keep in a system with normal reef parameters but calcium should be monitored and adjusted based on consumption."

    but unless you acclimate these corals under LED lighting they will not do as well for your average hobbiest. no hobbiest uses sun light so these corals will go through a very tough transition.
