You can think whatever you like about Delon, but he was there supporting Romy when her ex husband killed himself and when her son died. He insisted on starring alongside Romy in La Piscine when she wasn't as successful as she used to be. They seemed to have a special bond that he didn't have with Nathalie (his only wife and the woman he left Romy for). Romy left her son's funeral holding Delon's arm. After that, she was seen with Delon and his girlfriend Mireille. Also, you can't deny that he never looked at Mireille (his other great love) in the same way he looked at Romy. They were too young, too beautiful and too in love. Very young love is really hard to keep, especially when you are becoming famous. I think his relationship with Romy was the only time he fell in love in a romantic way. I'm sure he must have regretted it leaving her during his whole life.

I agree with you completely. It is the burning regret of Alain Delon’s life that he left her and clearly never stopped loving her. If he had, he would not continue to look after her to this day. On the other hand, imagine being in his life and knowing that you will always come second to Romy.

Invece dalle foto sul set era attaccato a Romy parecchio giocavano molto e molte fonti riportano che Alain tentò di riavvicinarsi a Romy ( biografia di Helmut Berger che lavoro con Schnaider e Visconti nel 1972) ma lei lo respinse rimasero legati da un amicizia speciale però . Romy divorzio dal marito ma molto dopo la piscina. Alain era e continuava a essere un uomo inaffidabile e giustamente Romy aveva sofferto troppo poi " I media" Che scrivevano già che erano tornati assieme mentre non era vero"

I get the impression from reading the comments on videos about Romy Schnider ,that for some of her admirers, everything stopped for them after the finish of the film SWIMMING POOL. They ignore the fact that she made 31 more movies after it ,including another one with Alain Delon, THE ASSASSINATION OF TROTSKY and that for all of the pain and sorrow he calused her in the time together and the breakup of their relationship, Romy still said that Delon was the only man she could rely on to be there when she needed help . The trauma of their breakup didn't prohit her from staying in touch with Alain Delon for the rest of her life. And if she could forgive his tresspasses , I wonder why her devoted admirers can't do the same. I am well aware of the fact that Alain Delon has many short comings when it comes to his romantic relationships, but I noticed,that all of the women he has had serious romantic relationships with have been willing to stay incontact with him. I remember seeing a photo of Alain Delon at the premiere of one of his films ,TO KILL A COP (1981) and there in the photo with Alain,are, Romy Schnider, Mirielle Darc,Anne Parillaud and his son Anthony Delon . Now I want you to visualize this ,there is Alain Delon standing with cureent girlfried Mirielle Darc, former girlfriend,Romy Schnider ,future girlfriend,Anne Parillaud and his son Anthony ( Delon left Romy to marry Anthony's mother ,Nathalie ) Aside from all the grandstanding on the part of Alain Delon, what is it about him, or the women he choses to get involved with , that could possibly motivate all of them ( and they all look pretty comfortable with the situstion ) to get together and all go out in public like that ? There seems to be something" magical" about Mr Delon ,other than his incrediable good looks.

I think she may have brought the best in him, a tender, softer side, but in the end, his adulterous nature won against their love. What's both comical and sad is that the woman he left Romy for and then married turned out to be what he didn't want and he later in life regretted his choices... it's such a tragic story :(

@@iuliaionelapetcu1411 I agree with you on the first, but Romy wasn't the staying home wife Alain wanted either, Romy wrote in her journal , while they were engaged,that she wasn't going to be folding Alain socks at home , she say she wanted to be an important actress, if that relationship ended it wasn't only because he was adulterous, Romy was entitled and felt uncomfortable with Alain's success , she was used to being the center of attention, the child actress, mommy's little princes, but we all know next to Alain she was outshined, he was too beautiful, became more famous and he was acting in very important movies like Plein soleil, Rocco and his brothers, The leopard etc. Alain has spoken about their relationship being the most painful, is not that he didn't loved her enough to stay, he just wasn't going to be at home while she left her kids to be on the set, that was what she did, later on Romy had two children with two different men and she abandoned them to be an actress, she also cheated on her husbands, Alain wanted a wife not an actress ,that is what he said when he divorced Nathalie, he seems to be very dominant and doesn't settle when things don't go his way, I also think Nathalie completely fooled him, she hadn't a carrer and followed him around until she got pregnant and he thought she would be it, but she turned out to be uninterested in the role as his wife and began living a separate life from him soon, she loved the fame , Alain said she wanted to be a socialite, and she said in her bio, Alain would complain about how lazy she was and she couldn't cook anything apart from spaghetti, Alain said that Nathalie had been fucking the bodyguard for about a year before he died, Alain of course had his string of girlfriends, they even lived separately while married, of all his partners is the one I like the least, she gives me a cold hard feel to her, in pictures she doesn't even looks in love with him, she was also married previously to a rich men, I think she was an opportunist, and he married her like when you buy a house, you know, you have a car, a house, a wife....I haven't read or saw him in recent enterviews saying something meaningful about Nathalie, he is always like: "the mother of my son" " Mis. Delon", nothing that gives away that he loved her deeply or that their love was beautiful in some way, I think it was his transition relationship to maturity, after her he was honest about wanting to live as a polyamorous men and had long lasting relationships, but of all of them I still believe Romy was for him the most precious and they seem to had a very fun compatibility, I love the way he looks at her and plays with her all the time.

@@brendacastillo8146 It's so dumb and entitled of him though to expect a succesful actress, like Romy was, to tone down her life passion just to be his wife. And even if she did that, I 100% believe he would have still cheated and probably left her anyway lol It's strange because, to me, he never seemed to really have any real chemistry with Nathalie, their relationship looks strange, at least from outside, like they are two people co-parenting and that's it. He is a fascinating character though, that's for sure, both in a good and bad way. I like to read about his life because I recently started drawing again and when I was looking for things and people to inspire me I stumbled upon a KZread video of him that and I was left impressed. When it comes to women, I think Adriana Lima, Naomi Campbell, Audrey Hepburn are the top choices for the most beautiful to have ever existed, but he is without a doubt the most gorgeous man to grace this planet, I've seen people male and female agree to this lol In general, he is a very flawed individual harboring some quite obvious trauma from his childhood/early youth, but at the same time, I stop myself and ponder: what would I, we have been like if we were born looking like him? Being *that* stunning has to separate you from the others to a certain extent and shapes the person you become in a unique manner. Can one even become anything other than a narcissist if born with those looks? Haha Especially in his 20s, during the Plein Soleil days, he was a literal walking, talking Michelangelo painting and he received extra preferrential treatment from the world accordingly. Yet, to this day, with all the incredible privileges he's been granted and the exquisite life he's lived, he's said to harbor a lot of regrets and resentment, dwells on the past and is generally miserable.. something in him must have always felt like it was missing, despite having everything, ironically.

@@iuliaionelapetcu1411 love , love you coment, I am also inspired by him, not only his beauty, as you say I too think about how he had definitely a special card to play in live, I also wonder how would be liked to be so gorgeous and charming that people around you is affected by you , he had that, and he dealt with it through his entire life, in his 20's being the most beautiful totally agree with you, my first reaction when I saw Plein soleil was "I can't believe how beautiful this men is" is an enchanting beauty, unforgettable, unsettling and adorable, I am impressed by the fact he got old, with such power he had over people is very common to get waste away by drugs or another self destructive behaviors, he was /is a very flawed individual but also had great admirable aspects of his personality, his compassion for animals, his passion for woman, his energy, he is self made, had nothing and became a successful actor and a business man, etc. Is also why he is so interesting to me, a human after all, on the Romy thing, I believe he was an old fashion dominant male, I believe fidelity wasn't in him, of course if Romy would've gave up her carrer and pleased him with the role he wanted her to play, he would've still be himself, having afairs and always pursuing to further his career , I don't believe he is a men who belongs to a woman, he belonged to himself,that is why his house is filled with pictures of all the woman he loved, his heart is like condominium, he loved hard and seemed to be always open and excited for more wich is one of things I found fascinating, being a very faithful woman myself It got me thinking on his unusual way of loving, the pros and cons of it, if one thing I take from his overall attitude when it comes to love is not to look for belonging to someone to the point of compromising my love for life and myself,I actually love how he never settled, I see him as a brave adventurous, he loved hard but if he felt passionate for someone else he didn't repressed himself , he followed his instincts, I look around and I see people bitter and sick from staying with someone who they don't feel in love or passionate about, just because of fear, or because "is the right thing to do", not him! One interview of him speaking shit about someone he was with or knew, such a gentleman, specially with his ex's, on the depressed elderly years I think Alain likes to talk about his sadness but I don't believe that is all his life is about, he has never been single, when he was speaking about how he missed Romy and Mirelle and all that, he was living with a partner that took care of him since 2019, also before that he came back and lived with Nathalie for a while, he is a magnet to women, I think is hard for him that had the world at his feet to got old, I loved talking to you and some other people that share the same insights as me on AD, is not just the he was hot.

I'm actually glad he lives in our lifetime and we got to witness his journey, because his existence truly is a spectacle to witness, it's like reading a novel or watching a play. What you said is very poignant, about loving yourself first and not losing who you are in another person, no matter how much, you love them, Delon certainly did that, howeeeveeer he expected otherwise from his women, don't you think? He expected fidelity and even said he wants to be with someone who loves him the way he loves himself, how would that even be possible? 🤔 I will contradict you on one point though, is that he could have been faithful to one woman only if he had met his match, not necessarily physically (because that would be extremely difficult, very, very few people, male or female, are that beautiful), but psychologically. A woman who would know to play him like a fiddle, knowing when to administer pain, when to act like a lover and when slightly like a mother. He has very obvious deep wounds from the past when he was a boy, I'm actually surprised he never got over his pride and adressed them with therapy. A professional psychological analysis on him would be so intriguing. Also, he may have had many women, but I read that with every single one of them, he still felt lonely inside. So there is a core to him that no one was able to reach and I think that is due to his traumatic past. He reaaally needed a therapist. One thing I wonder though, you said he never spoke badly of the women he was with, even after ending with them, which is the gentleman thing to do, but how would he like for his own daughter to be treated by the man she's in a relationship with the way he treated the women he was involved with? Because it seems, ironically, that he loves his daughter the most of all his children (funnily enough, she almost looks nothing like him lol).

Some people says he just got involved with her and brought her to Paris (for interest) because she was famous... short of saying he never loved her and used her for interest and become famous himself... who knows? So soon, he got separated from Nathalie, in fact, he demanded her to be his co-star in La Piscine - a very sexual film. Whatever he ever felt for her, appears me he was sexually attracted to Romy. There's no other reason for him to demand her as his co-star in that movie. In Trotsky movie, they too had a very sexual scene. After this movie, Romy denied several movies with him!

From which I read Romy had boyfriends since she was a teenager. She was even in love with a older German actor. But their affair was secret. Their love letters just become known years after Romy's death. But Delon was her great love and great trauma. He arouse intense and deep feelings in her. The way he left her was very traumatic. I think she wasnt even a 25 years old. I wish some other movie had launched her career in France. Then she'll never do La Piscine. And she'll can cut him off of her life. Maybe she will be better off in this way.

I recently read some articles that make me question his truthfulness about his love for her, Mireille or Natalie. Was he capable of loving anyone except himself and maybe his daughter?
