    Wrong. USA invaded because Iraq got the idea to invade kuwait and because they were scared that Iraq/sadam was on the brink of getting biological weapons of mass destruction which turned outt to be wrong. But they at least saved kuwait and liberated iraq people of a dictator. And please stop the "what-about-isme" and start thinking critical for yourself.

Ukraine is an independent country. free to make it's own decisions but like all the countries in the hemisphere around the USA , north central south Americas and beyound the USA does not permit missiles to be placed or military bases to be established. Right ! So better to respectfully keep the peace rather than provoke others into devastating decisions. Makes absolutely no sense to put NATO (usa) missiles in Ukraine a known corrupt country or to allow it to join NATO which is an anti Russian entity. This is easy for anyone to understand. In the long run, is it right or wrong, to divide? We get the harvest of divide and conquer, from a bad seed / bad software planted in a toxic soil/brains by the ancestors of our present „elites „, don’t like it, but still don’t analyze the root cause of the present state of ourselves, our nations, and planet earth adequate? Are the problems we face today not to big for this rotten approach, who fails always sooner or later? A lie appears comfortable in the present moment, but has uncomfortable consequences for the future present while the truth is sometimes uncomfortable in the present (especially for those, who follow a wrong definition of strength/superiority in organized violence and manipulation of masses of people), but is the only solid ground we should build on. All truth is paradoxical (Lao Tse) The hostile mindset of divide and conquer comes down to each I n - d I v I d u a l (just think about the meaning of words, and it’s consequences), where weak people get absorbed, and strong people refuse it.

    difference between "looking dangerous" and "being dangerous".Russia describes military doctrine as defensive military doctrine. In addition, you place dictators and puppet foreign politicians that do let you steal the resources and do the dirty work. Furthermore how many agreements did NATO, the USA, EUROPE break with Russia? In the 60 the USA put missiles in Turkey then Russia responds by placing missiles in Cuba in 1962. It almost triggered ww3. Why do you think in 2022 placing military base and missile Ukraine is acceptable? Finally, the USA proposes to sell the weapon to Japan and Taiwan. China responds by making threats that will trigger a war. Once again NATO, Europe, USA are the provocateur. Henry Kissinger was exactly correct. Building healthy respectful relationships should be the goal of America, vs. encouraging friction and the threat of war. Are people really so eager to give their lives and the lives of their loved ones to make a point that America is right and other countries are wrong regarding how they govern within their borders. America is far from perfect. The audacity of the US to be constantly criticizing how other countries lead within their borders is ludicrous. We are far from perfect and if anyone has noticed lately, America is a very divided country, with huge disparities in standard of living, a poor health care system with rampant overpricing, one of the lower life expectancy rates of developed countries, high infant mortality, a government run by special interest groups, and lobbyists employed by corporations that continue to rob the American people of a healthy and upwardly mobile standard of living, with the highest cost of health care of any country. We in America are used to these things, but when judged by someone outside of America, they would rightly be viewed as major problems for the American people with a government that doesn't care about the welfare of most of its citizens. In spite of these injustices within our borders, no other country has the righteous attitude that they should dictate how America is run. Should China or Russia comment on our racial injustices, gun violence, immigration debacles, or other American internal issues? America needs to get a grip, and stop criticizing foreign countries unless they are a threat to America or American allies. There can be great benefit in countries being economically engaged with one another. Consider a time when we (Russia, China, America, Europe, and other nations) are all benefitting from one another economically and each country is enriched through these interconnections. Would any of those countries want to hurt the other? No they would not because they would then be hurting themselves. That is the way to have peace in the world. Everyone benefits from each other, and it's in everyone's best interest to continue to prosper and grow. That's it. Unfortunately America would rather continue with their holier-than-thou, judgmental behavior, rather than establishing respectful relationships that work together and build alliances that help one another grow, thrive and coexist in strength and unity.

    The strategic error has been to believe that every country in the 20th century needs to be a democracy because that's what the U.S. is, even though the U.S. itself was not an ideal democracy for the first 150-175 years since its inception. It needed to operate in a tight-fisted manner to stabilize internally. That's what all these "autocratic" countries are trying to do - secure their borders, safeguard resources, and achieve internal stability. But other countries focusing on their own needs doesn't help the US, UK, EU as they need global resources to keep their populations well-fed, clothed, and warmed, even if it means throwing those countries into disarray.

  • @georgeandrews9177
    @georgeandrews91772 жыл бұрын

    Yes, I agree with uniting with foes. But Americans have always had a fear of Soviet Union communism and now Russia. Let's remember before 2008 Russia had wanted to have friendship and join NATO. But in 2008 the US statement said, Ukraine and Georgia would eventually join NATO. This enrage Russia. Russia invaded Georgia to stop any such action. You forget to mention the many, many times US has "invaded" other countries under the disguise of "democracy". And since the Bay of Pigs has lost every single military venture. Even Kennedy had to agree to have US missiles removed from Turkey before Soviets would stop missiles in Cuba. Putin wants a buffer zone between NATO (American missiles and military basis) and Russia. Ukraine and Georgia sit on his border. The US policy has been for decades to hate the Russians. Out of fear and weakness Trump put sanctions on China. Thus drawing China and Russia closer together to unite against USA. Supporting Taiwan has not been good. Biden is playing a very dangerous game. Putin wants that buffer zone. Ukraine wanted it too, but USA and EU would not let Zelinskiy participate in negotiations. Now Putin has no choice... take over Ukraine (in full or part) or destroy Ukraines economy. If the US continues to push Putin into a corner, then he will become desperate. Who wants a man desperate to protect his country against US aggression: a man with nuclear warheads capable of hitting US within 10 minutes? Just watch a trapped animal fight for survival.... Now China is willing (and probably most of the middle-east) to back Russia. If the US does not release this tension, and allow a buffer zone, we could annihilate ourselves over a piece of land which has no strategic value. Think how Americans would feel if Canada and Mexico put missiles along their borders pointing at the USA. Them saying, "Don't worry we won't use them unless you do something wrong". This is where the USA has put Putin....

    The main reason for Russia to invade Ukraine is that Russia is very concernin about its "National Security" and wants Ukraine remains as a "nuetral" country. But the Ukraine government officials want the US government's money and wants to join the NATO. The US government is the one country should be responsible for this Russian attack Ukrane war. See reason below: 1. The US government is doing all along trying to encircle Russia with NATO countries and the last country the US needed is Ukranie. 2. Once Ukraine become a memeber of the NATO, US will equip it with missile and/or nuclear weapons and all pointing to Russia. Right at Russia's door steps. 3.During the 13-day political and military standoff in October 1962 over the installation of nuclear-armed Soviet missiles on Cuba, just 90 miles from U.S. shores. The US government almost and would start a war with Russia for the reason of US National Security. Fortunately behind the scene, the US and the Russia agreed on the settlement of if Russia back off the Soviet missiles on Cuba then the the US also agreed to remove those missiles install at Turkey that was pointing to Russia. I knew, I got called up by the US army for that Cuba Missiels crisis and was waiting at the the train to be deployed. 4. Actually Putin already let Biden know about the reason for possible attack Ukrane during a news interview, BUT Biden did not want to hear and to know Putin's reason is actually for the Russia country security (if Ukranine joined the NATO, that was US government, Biden is pushing for all along, then the US will be equipped Ukrane with missiles and/or with nuclear weapons all pointing to Russia, right at the Russia's door steps) Instead, the US government, Biden, keeps give out misinformation about the Russia military built up at the Russia and Ukrane border and fanny the war. So, Biden is one who should be blame and/or take the responsibility for the Russia to attack on Ukrane. All Russia wants is that Ukrane to stay as a neutral country. But the Ukrane top corrupted government officails want the money from the US government is refused Russia demand and want to join the NATO, that also is what Biden wanted. So, in conclusion, the US government, Biden, should be the one who responsibe for the war in Ukrane and Biden should be tried for the war crime for Russia invading Ukrane.

    US excelled in mass manufacturing because of its isolation and huge population. It took technology and people from Europe and with volumes and low quality beat the smaller divided and expensive small but technologically advanced manufacturing of European countries. It also has a great advantage of being an reserve currency nation. Japan mastered mass manufacturing with less physical inputs and a more efficient supply chain but being a vassal In a world completely Dominated by US had to voluntarily scale back it's ambitions. However China has surpassed US both in mass manufacturing and the internet and computer revolution has made. Transport , manufacturing, shipping , knowledge transfer incredible and rest of the world ( excluded world ie third world nations) is just starting to take advantage of it . China is willing to finance infrastructure projects and in return get market share of markets where none existed. In mid eighties Japan faced a dilemma that the biggest market was US and countries it controlled. But the world has changed on that front, what we are seeing is a churn in the world order but US wants time to remain still . .but as everyone knows that doesn't happen. US needs to reinvent itself to compete as a peer not dominate with sanctions and wars. If that happens Power will not just slip out of US hands but it will happen suddenly and deeply.

The use of uranium depleted ammo which caused a dramatic increase in cancer cases. Kosovo was just taken away alongside its resources and assets for which no compensation was made and a bunch of non negotiable political and economic changes were imposed and everybody cheered and declared it a great success. Here in Bosnia (I'm from Sarajevo 90) this is not the official "narrative" however I think it's important to accept facts whether we like them or not. While I accept that for the most part we as former Yugoslav states screwed ourselves over, NATO and the powers that be were the ones who did the most damage in the long run.

To be clear- i condemn Russia's attack on Ukarine, but also condemn the NATO attack on Serbia in 1999. where many civilians were killed ( even a two ys old baby- Milica Rakich), The reason why NATO attacked Serbia was dictator Miloshevich, who lived safely at his residence, while his son got rich, during the NATO bombing, building his own personal amusement park ''Bambieland'' ( something like Disneyland). @@kevinschmidt7583 Kevin, Mr. Fareed is saying Russia is a weakening power? Can you even think that powerful China has chosen a "weak" power to be "my closest friend" as this is the way President of China greets ALWAYS President of Russia? Mr. Fareed interviewed President Putin in Miscow. And, as for me,. we, the outstanding (nobody is better than us) ones, ALWAYS UNDERESTIMATE beyond our scope of "knowledge" of the History of that Power. Mr. Putin knows the history of the whole world very, very well. He is only one President in the world to whom many, very many presidents come to meet with in Kremlin. Baiden is "nothing" as the world leader compare to President Putin. And thus, my conclusion is this: the USA is dying from the internal bleeding and is loosing its influence as the greatest power. The new power is already here: China, India, Russia to name a few. The train left the station and left us behind. Another president such as Baiden will shorten our End. And that will be horrible and will be very devastating for our economy. That is underestimation mistake of what the Power really represents. And to bring a smile to your face here is two-day ago Russian joke which I treat very seriously: one Russian advises to an Ukranian that if the latter wants to get to USA, it is the shortest way to enlist in the Russian army now as it will be shortly in Washington D.C. Are we all laughing?

    Russia invaded like what? 2 countries in last 30 years (Ukraine and Georgia). Syrian operations not to be counted as it was requested by the Syrian government (Syria is a UN member, so it's their right whom to request to fight islamic terrorists). Now how many US invaded countries since fall of the Soviet Union in early 1990s? Europe has seen actually war since WWII. It was Yugoslavia bombing without UN sanctions (thus illegal activity), where a Chinese embassy was struck by an aircraft bomb. Fareed is right that Russia and China must be treated differently. Russia is still mostly belongs to Western culture whilst China will never accept Western culture and Western values. US has started the blatant violation of UN charts (illegal and faked pretext of 2003 Iraqi invasion), thus showing the world their unimportance, thus allowing Russia to do similar things. The best case scenario for Ukraine and the world now will be to let Eastern Ukraine determine their own fate and Western Ukraine join EU and NATO. No one in Europe and Russia wants total war, especially in Europe. And the West should start working out its relations with Russia that's based on mutual respect and trust. The West needs Russia to counteract China in future and thus shouldn't push Russia further into China's influence.

(Why not work on having a better relationship with both!?) Fareed continues; "And because American treats all authoritarian countries the same" he's basically saying is another reason for this crisis in Ukraine ... Oh Fareed this is the second show you've done backing Putin or at least blaming America for the current crisis. Putin's payroll seems endless around the world and especial here in America. Apparently coming from Ex British colony India, Mr. Zakaria is well aware of the 'advantages' of Divide and Rule, which the British applied very effectively in India, to take (if I may...steal) about $45 Trillion in wealth from their crown jewel colony. And now he is choosing to promote it in his adopted homeland. Feel sorry for such thinking. Perhaps Mr. Zakaria could have thrown some light on how to address legitimate security concerns and anxieties of nations. If America desires to remain numero uno and by all means, sure then anyone threatening that will remain an adversary and we shall continue to have wars...🙏🙏

Then we can add to mix how many rebellions your country fund, training and providing weapons. In addition, you place dictators and puppet foreign politicians that do let you steal the resources and do the dirty work. When the USA goes to Irak, Afghanistan that liberation but when Russia goes to Ukraine that invasion, Double Standards. Please stop hypocrisy and selective outrage. But the media are pushing propaganda USA, NATO, EUROPE, UKRAINE are good and innocent vs China-Russia-Venezuela-Iran countries are bad USA, NATO, EUROPE governments- corporations are gangsters have no moral authority.

I think the NATO even though Ukraine isn't a part of it should open discussions with Russia telling them if Russia keeps shelling Ukraine that Ukraine will shell back and if Russia invades because so then military action from NATO needs to be brought upon Russia. My point, Russians were not happy with Putin, they came out in the street but they are fearful of KGB agent Putin. The majority of Russians are fearful of their government. @@TheWersum USA don't give a shit about Russia. They have been withdrawing troops and investments from Europe since the end of the Cold War. They are all focus in the Indian Pacific Region, the new center of gravity of the world. If it wasn't for Poutine, USA would already been gone from Europe. Only a deranged being like Poutine can think that the USA want to invade Russia. Nor Europe want it either. They rather would want to Russia become a prosperous democratic country to join Europe Union which would be wonderful to have all Europeans living, trading, enjoying prosperity together by choice, not by the power of force like Poutine would want to do . USA only objective now is to contend China power. Russia is a distraction, but a dangerous one with this guy who thinks we are still living in the 19th century. Poutine want Russia neighbors with puppets like the "president" of Belarus ruling by oppression and only capable of that because he has Poutine to protect him from his own population full of desire of freedom and hope for a better life free from psychopaths like him and Poutine (did you see him near Poutine watching to the "Russia war games" in his own country? He was like a true wax puppet, with no expression, no own will). Poutine want to be able to intervene as he want in these countries when the several decades long dictators are in risk from being put out of the power by a fed up population like last year in Belarus, and this year in Kazakhstan. He can't support that Ukraine is not like Belarus or Kazathstan and more importantly, he is afraid that Ukraine can be successful, so a very bad example at his doors! Imagine if the Russian population would want to imitate Ukraine population! What an horror for this fake czar, who want to be an alfa male but who is so coward that he have to poison or imprisoned his political adversaries to be sure to win "elections". Undermining Ukraine economy is his way to weaken Ukrainian population faith on democracy and then trying to put his own puppet at power like he did before the Maivan Revolution. Imagine if Ukraine is successful country, a Russian neighbor that can live successfully without Russia ruling it, what a nightmare! I used to live in France for a long time, then in Netherlands and Germany. I went to several protests in France and no tank from the French army tried to ampere me to manifest (only some zealous or afraid policemen). In Germany and Netherlands I assisted several protests against OTAN, but I never saw a single US Army guy or any US tank trying to stop theses protests, like Russian army did in several countries like Czechoslovakia or Hungria in the last century, or more recently in Belarus and Kazakhstan. USA politics can be very unfriendly, but Russian past and present mentality is light years far more evil than anything that the USA can do in Europe, or even to Russia. It is this very reason why European East countries ASKED to join OTAN, not by love to the USA, but because they don't trust a country ruled by people who still have the mentality of their ancient torturers! I have several friends in Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, and whatever their age, most of them don't like the USA, but all of them say the same about Russia paranoiac quest of European dominance by force and torture. So, Ukrainians, are not different, and even Belarus people are changing, as they have hope of becoming a friendly country too, among all other European countries. Actual Russian rulers mentality is eviler than cancer, it is bad for Europe, but it is also bad for Russian amazing people. One more time Europe and USA don't give a shit about Russia unless Russia became a true democracy (still in need to be turned a perfect-full system, for sure) which want to work together with trust and friendship. Russia have a wonderful people, too bad they can't be free from the actual Kremlin Imperial mentality. If Russia want to be respected, it has to deserve it. But it was all the contrary that Russia have been showing to the world in the last 20 years or so. Force is always an ephemeral thing that can be overwhelmed by people hope at any time. Respect can last centuries and even be eternal.

    A robust economy is essential to national security. It can help fund the military and be viewed by the world as a model economy whose principles are worth following. Belief in institutions is also related to this- because if the economy is faltering, the institutions that are charged with regulating the economy (e.g. the FED), loses credibility. The state of the economy is always a bellwether to the health of the nation. Albeit, not a perfect measure.
