Farberware Stand Mixer 600 Watt (listed at $100). Testing all speeds, and Pros and Cons

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Testing Farberware Stand Mixer 600 Watt using a low hydration bread dough. It's one of the cheapest Stand mixer for such a powerful motor. This video is to test speed performance to see how the mixer handles the dough at all speeds including the highest - even though you probably don’t use the high speeds when mixing some types of bread dough.

This is a really good review. To be honest most tilt head mixers shake allot when kneading low hydrated dough, or any kind of heavy dough. So this would be expected from this mixer. But for the price this is a real good deal. For cakes and whipping or even mixing light dough, this Faberware mixer is really good for the price.

Hi J Von, I agree with you that this mixer is good for any light recipes, just not for heavy dough. And the price is a real bargain for a 600 Watt machine. Thanks again for your comment.

I've made all kinds of things with this model. Pizza dough, cake mix and everything in between. I must say, I'm glad we switched from Kitchen Aid as the closest power rating to this one is 499.99.

Hi Eduman1979 - Glad you liked the video, thanks! Altogether I use 800gr of flour (a 50/50 mix of BF and WWF). This comes out to 5 cups + 105gr. Those 105 gr are just shy of 3/4 of a cup. Thanks again for watching and also thanks for subscribing!

Can't find replacement tools for the Farber ware

Hi Kim - You're right , Farberware stand mixer parts are very hard to find. We went to the website Farberware.com and it looks like they no longer make their own product, but license their name to other companies. We found a page that lists the companies that make different Farberware-name products. Here is the link: farberware.com/customer-service Also, you can try Walmart and Amazon which popped up immediately when we searched for Farberware replacement parts. Hope this is helpful.

Yep I absolutely cannot find attachments for it at all. The type of power head just says its a transmission gear in the paperwork. It even has a plastic cover over it that comes off. But the instructions don't talk about it a single time. So dumb.

5 cups flour. How much water did you use?

  • @ZLhow2

Hi Paty, - The bread I showed for testing the mixer uses slightly more than 5 c (800gr Flour. My 1 cup measures 140 gr F). I used 460 gr water plus other liquid ingredients like Malt syrup, Molasses, Oil, and 100% hydration starter. If you want to use a basic bread without enriching it with these ingredients, then you should use more water depending on type of bread you prefer. Thanks for watching and hope it helps.

Hello and thanks for video. Our faberware seems to shut off when mixing dough. It has to sit off for awhile, turn back on but keeps repeating this. Any ideas?

Hi Edward, Thanks for watching and your question. Seems like you did right by letting the SM rest. Maybe, if you unplug the machine and let it sit for 12 hours, it may reset the SM. Also, check the troubleshooting page in your Manual's. Otherwise, I would suggest that you call Farberware customer service. Hope this helps.

Did this model have suction cups on the bottom? I don't think that the new professional series does.

Hi Derek Webster - Thanks for your comment and sorry for my delay in replying.Yes this model has suction cups, and they are very strong, which helps prevent the mixer from “walking”. But if you decide to move it, you will have to put in a lot of effort to lift it. So better to keep it in one place. Thanks again!

Derek Webster. I recently got one. It does not have suction cups on it. But when I used it the feet did stick to the counter some. Not as much as a suction cup would have. But there was a little resistance when I lifted it when I was done.
