Her ability of speaking Arabic helped her with pronunciation of the lyrics, because I can hear a bit of Arabic pronunciations in the lyrics. That is what I think

I believe to leave her knowledge of Arabic helped her here too. I didn’t want to say it out loud or in writing because I was afraid people would say I’m wrong, lol. Arabic is the second hardest language in the world, and I think it has some things in common, which Chinese, not in terms of it content, but in terms of how it structured With all the tones and even the writing involved in it. Her history of having to learn such a difficult language, helped her know how to approach Chinese in my opinion.

I've always read about how arabic speakers can learn other languages easier (than the others), because it has a lot of sounds that exist in other languages that English native speakers may find hard. Like kh, dh, qa'.. etc. if it makes sense.

@@RosannasfriendArabic and Mandarin or Cantonese are so far apart that there is no similarity between the languages. I speak English, French. Arabic and Spanish fluently. Dabbled with Mandarin but found it very different.

No, being an Arabic speakers gives you no advantage or help when pronouncing Mandarin whether you are speaking Darija or Fusha. Because linguistically Arabic and Mandarin do not share any common pronunciation, both language groups find it incredibly difficult to pronounce each other's languages. You are making this false association since you are an Arabic speaker who knows nothing about Mandarin. I believe this is FAOUZIA's HEARING AND MEMORY THAT ARE MUCH BETTER THAN AVERAGE. She was able to learn to sing the Mandarin song in such a short time, and she did it quite well. And the Chinese woman who had more or less helped her. Just in case you didn't know, the original singer is a native Hong Konger whose Mandarin pronunciation is a bit unclear. Some say she was born with a condition that compounded the problem of unclear pronunciation. Faouzia learned to sing Mandarin by listening to the original song track, which which must have made the learning process more challenging.

And I’m sure the way she choose this song this song for this time will attract more fans from china as this song written by GEM is also very famous in China Hong Kong Taiwan etc.

Song written by and originally performed by Hong Kong singer GEM. Faouzia sung it pretty much the same as the original, which did have the English lines in it as well. Chinese commenters said her pronunciation was very good and even better than other competitors who were singing in different dialects (than their native one). Song is about trying to break away from obsessive love but being unable to.

Song title is Devil from Heaven, lyrics: Beautiful nightmares Awakening deep desires within You are the black hole in my mind I can no longer resist All of my control and intuitions Are held by your mystical attraction You dear, are a dangerous maze A maze without an exit You took my heart away, away, away, away My head is blown away, away, away, away You are the notorious devil from heaven You took my heart away, away, away, away, away, away, away Spare me from your gentle words Your subconscious deception I wanna resist your effortless smiles I think I’m becoming incurable Like a wave you encircle me Trapping me and pulling me under My dear you graceful devil Bit by bit you swallow me whole You took my heart away, away, away My head is blown away, away, away You are the notorious devil from heaven You took my heart away, away, away, away, away, away, away If you are the serpent’s deceit A planned deception, then I have fallen Yet, you are the Newton’s apple Innocent and pure You took my heart away, away, away You took my heart away, away, away You took my heart away, away, away My head is blown away, away, away You are what myths call the devil from heaven You took my heart away, away, away, away, away, away, away

The way to get to a population heart is to speak or sing in their language. She was so smart to do this and then to do it so well with an incredible performance! Amazing artist.

You can try the original “away” by GEM. There is English subtitle for the lyrics. Besides for your information, GEM was also the first runner up in the same show 10 years ago…

I'm Chinese. There is no problem with the pronunciation of Faouzia Mandarin. She sings better than the original. The rhythm of the entire song is stronger, the contrast between strengths and weaknesses is more pronounced, the high notes are more explosive, and the emotional expression is basically in place.

Just listen to the song, Faouzia is a very good singer, I am impress with her pulling this off within a short time as it is difficult song and it's a language that she doesn't understand. But just ask yourself without Gem's original interpretation will she be able to interpret the song in this similar style?

The original singer of this song is from Hong Kong, and Hong Kong people have a little accent when they speak Mandarin. Faouzia learned the song by following the pronunciation of the original singer. But this does not affect my listening experience. Although Faouzia's pronunciation is already very good, as a Chinese, I still don't know the lyrics she sings without reading the subtitles. Regardless, she's great!
