There is little space between phrases. That’s why Adam Lambert said he wonders where she breathes in that song. There isn’t much space to breathe. And it’s not even just the melisma, but the verses don’t have much spaces between them.

Adam Lambert was in a separate challenge which didn't affect the scores. Basically a guest performer. Yellow, the guy with his head in his hands, was Faouzia's competitor and finished 2nd in this round. As others have mentioned, Faouzia won this round. Competitors are in comfy sofas and chairs backstage, so that's who you see in the brightly lit areas. The non-Chinese performers have a personal translator/assistant assigned to them. The girl behind Lambert was his translator. Regardless of the outcomes of the competition, she is gaining notice around the world with this set of performances. And more to come!

@@damhood2033 to me it's about making sure a reactor experiences an artist at their best, especially if they're not familiar with them. There are SOOO many artists out there to react to, so if there's someone I'd really like them to do a deep dive on (like Faouzia), I don't want them to have any reason to not be as impressed as they should or could be.

So glad to see you react to this recommendation 🥹 I agree with you, nobody could replicate this performance as Faouzia does. This was the third week she performed on the show and she got 1st place. Would be great to see you react to the other 4 performances so far and the next ones to come (every Friday comes a new episode).

@@richeswebcraft Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and Lybia have different music styles but also have some similarities. You should check each country's music styles and believe me you'd be blown away. This style (the part that Faouzia sang) can be classified as Rai music which is an Algerian music style as the original singer is actually a Rai singer

Thanks for doing this one. I really like it. Yes, Adam performed. And there’s a backstage video of contestants while Faouzia was singing. AndAdam Lambert asking “when does she breathe?” Putri Araini has an excellent live version of Desert Rose out on YT recently. It’s an interesting comparison of the voices of the two talented ladies. They are both great. I’m fans of both. At this point it may just come down to personal preference. Maybe one day, we’ll get a dueling piano concert with Faouzia and Putri, like Elton John and Billy Joel used to do.

She did a stellar job, but the song wasn't a great match for her voice. .It didn't showcase what she can do. Haha, I almost got the feeling that her and Chante Moore switched their songs. One vocal coach said "you would rate that performance a 10 out of 10.....but it was weird".

The English lyric's are incorrect, there is no mention of "2 horses that will never tire", it is supposed to say "two hearts that will never die", well that's how Sting wrote the original song: "Desert Rose" -OG Lyric's Ya leel Ya leel Hadaee mada tawila Wa ana nahos ana wahala ghzalti Wa ana nahos ana wahala Wa ana nahos ana wahala I dream of rain I dream of gardens in the desert sand I wake in vain I dream of love as time runs through my hand I dream of fire These dreams that tie two hearts that will never die Near the flames The shadows play in the shape of the man's desire This desert rose Whose shadow bears the secret promise This desert flower No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this And now she turns This way she moves in the logic of all my dreams This fire burns I realize that nothing's as it seems I dream of rain I dream of gardens in the desert sand I wake in vain I dream of love as time runs through my hand I dream of rain I lift my gaze to empty skies above I close my eyes The rare perfume is the sweet intoxication of love Ya leel Ya leel I dream of rain I dream of gardens in the desert sand I wake in vain I dream of love as time runs through my hand Sweet desert rose Whose shadow bears the secret promise This desert flower No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this Sweet desert rose This memory of hidden hearts and souls This desert flower This rare perfume is the sweet intoxication of love Ya leel Ya leel

Faouzia does a beautiful job of this its not easy to cover a song when you have to make for two singers. Putri also did a version of similar ilk, but in full voice pushing her limits also fantastic. In this one Putri does an mazing job perhaps the best I have ever heard. This is Faouzia's Desert Rose 3.0. Her renditions of the song from three years ago are equally exceptional. If you compare Putri's rendition to Faouzia's, I believe Faouzia's versions are superior in terms of vocal quality and techniques. And I' think she's heard Faouzia's, as well as some of Faouzia songs, such as Minefields
