The Marshall Islands has the biggest tuna fishing grounds in the world. Fisheries are the biggest contributor to the local economy. Around 10% of workers in the Marshall Islands are employed in fisheries, mainly in the tuna sector. Marshallese currently work in a range of different jobs in the local fisheries sector, on fishing boats, loading and unloading fish, in processing plants, and in fisheries policy and management roles. The FISH4ACP project and MIMRA have been working to make the local tuna industry more sustainable. They are also working to increase fisheries sector jobs in the Marshall Islands, creating more job opportunities for Marshallese.
#FISH4ACP is a project of @FAO, funded by @european-union, @PressACP, @BMZ-Bund
