There was time a few years ago, where I thought modern cartoons were a letdown. But with shows like Gravity Falls teaching about growing up and overcoming fear, it shows that modern cartoons have definitely been making strides to not play it safe.

Sort of a vent, but also appreciation for this scene. I am currently thirteen, and watched this show very recently at the cusp of my thirteen birthday at twelve years old about two months ago. This show has really, really helped me out currently, as the line "you're are scared, of growing up" hit extremely hard. This scene specifically, has helped me even in the short time I have known this show. It made me really realize that other people, my age are probably also horrified at the thought of growing up, scared, wanting to crawl back to extreme hand holding and the simple comforts of childhood that are slowly being ripped away yet still there even if it feels like everything is going too fast, maybe there is still time if I let go of the worry, the distractions, the fantasy created in my head to hold me back, and instead embrace the countless time I have left of being a child, and getting to learn life.

There is no way Alex is this good at remembering details. In the first episode, Dipper's hat was brown and had a star on it. And somehow, Alex remembered that slight detail that basically nobody remembers, and adds it to the flashbacks. Damn Alex.

This episode is pretty sad for someone like me that lives in imagination. You don’t want to move on from the thing you love but it’ll happen anyway. And you don’t want to grow up because change is scary. Yeah, but they were just doing a small scene. If they had her do that, it would’ve been really out of character and I feel like they’d need to do some sort of explanation or something. DIPPER AND MABEL AS LITTLE KIDS ARE SOOO CUTE!!!!!

Mabel really needs to wake up. This is both figuratively and literally. Some of her actions (relentlessly pursuing boys in spite of what Dipper said) have had consequences for Dipper (whether direct or not), and she was somewhat unfair to him in a few cases (Carpet Diem, Sock Puppet, Dipper & Mabel vs Reality). I can understand why people would defend Mabel in some cases, but to me, she needs to see that life's not always going to go the way she wants things to. I'm still pretty bummed the show didn't really dive into that more than it should have.

@@digstrememcdingus1463 Yeah, she does, even after the Mermando incident she admits she's being pretty unfair with Dipper in the journal, and after the Sock Opera reallizes she was being a huge jerk to him. The problem is that even if she does reallize her mistakes, she doesn't try to get better, and ends up repeating the same mistakes from before right after those lessons, and in the end, she always gets her way by making Dipper make huge sacrifices for her, sacrifices she's never willing to do in return.

@@jammail5425 Yes and no: yes, the comic finally calls her out for her actions and makes her reallize of everything she did wrong by being forced to deal with herself by being stucked because of her own selfish attitude, and she does apologize for her mistakes, the only bad thing is we never see her behaving better after that. But I have to agree I loved that story, my only complain is that it should have been in the tv series, it would have made it SO much better.

@@dracoangelrojo That comic couldn't be incorporated into the TV show, because it took place AFTER season 2. That whole comic adventure happened because the Pines family was trying to seal any other riffs leftover from Weirdmaggedon.

Honestly their best sibling moment ever I would say, showing them before the show making us see they always had each other even when they were younger, cheering each other up when al looked lost. Dipper doesn't hesitate one second to use the razor, neither does Mabel. Mabel easily finds where Dipper went, and used all the valentine cards she got for him, showing she cares more about her brother than any guy she would like. My heart.

Her wanting to live out a fantasy is actually understandable. Most people are more upset that Dipper gave up something so important to him in the end while Mabel didn't show any sign of guilt for indirectly causing Weirdmaggedon and basically abandoning her friends and family in reality.

I don't get why. She's 12, a child. What kid, heck, what adult wouldn't be pulled in by a world like this. Also it's heavily implied that it was warping her sense as well as after she hugs Dipped she says everything is so bright and asked what had gotten into her.

I woulda beat up the kids that did those horrible things. Besides, once Mabel and Dipper show the photos to the kids in their new school that they saved the world. Can't wait 'till the bullies who made reality horrible go in a corner crying.

Watching the show, there are a lot of things that could have been solved if they used more than just 10% of their brain The time travel episode ended with Dipper missing his shot so that Mable can have Waddles but why doesn't she get Waddles before Dipper needs her help (You're telling me they didn't come up with this in 1 month)

Yeah God has blessed Dipper with a kind-hearted and caring sister like Mabel. And blessed Mabel with a selfless and supportive brother like Dipper. They are both good siblings.

I cried the first time I watched this so I was like “ya I’m not gonna cry this time” and at the end I was like😭. Also the part when Dipper didn’t get any Valentines was the saddest and I was like “HOW DID DIPPER NOT GET ANY VALENTINES HE IS LIKE NICER THEN ALL OF THE GUYS I KNOW!” Also 😢 I would give you a Valentine Dipper 😊

Even after this show ended tear still fill my eyes with this scene

I Think that time Mabel was POSSESED BY BILL! during the episode we can see that dipper is getting visions of nightmarish versions of the things in her reality speaking to him in English', but in a nightmarish tone. I Think you can see where I'm going with this, if Mabel can control her reality, and has visions like that happening in dippers point of view, THAT MEANS THAT MABEL ISNT ACTUALLY MABEL, Its bill.. taunting dipper by giving him nightmarish visions, FACT: When Mabel and dipper finish their hug Mabel ACTUALLY Is noticing the annoyance of her actions, but not before. THATS BECAUSE SHE WAS POSSESED BY BILL! Giving dipper taunts in order to keep him in the nightmarish world... FOR-EV-ER!

Ikr That bubble prison tempts anyone making them careless about what was going on outside it. It is obvious how Mabel wondered what happened. Bill knew vey well that Mabel is optimistic. If he had made it a living hell instead of a paradise, Mabel would absolutely do anything to get out of it and go rescue her friends and her family. Making her fear of being not supported stand in her way. She just needed a cheering up, she realized that not only her brother will support her but a lot of people who are close to her as well that's why she told him he can take the apprenticeship meaning that she grew as a character. Do you agree?

Did you forget that it was literally Mabel who fulfilled his dream to meet the author? If she had listened to Dipper and pressed the button, Ford would have been stuck in that dimension forever and Stan never would have been able to make up with his brother. Also, she was willing to give him the key to the room, realized in the puppet show episode how selfless Dipper is and saved him from Bill, etc. It's a bit delusional to throw so much hate on her

@@Anonym-kl9vf at the same time we learned from Journal 3 that Ford was right about to defeat Bill when the portal opened. If the portal never opened, Weirdmaggedon would never have happened, but at the same time Ford would never have been able to return

I'm glad Dipper didn't kill Dippy Fresh. Even if you view Dippy Fresh as an antagonist, he did nothing Bill Cipher-y enough to deserve Dipper murdering him, and that would have gone against Dipper's character in this part of the same episode because it also doesn't make a good case for how supportive Dipper can be of Mabel if he killed a clone Mabel created to be a supportive backup Dipper. Mabel created dippy Fresh due to of her fear of being not supported and being angry at dipper thinking that he forgot all support she gave him and that dippy Fresh was no different than fake Wendy

My brother and I are like this we relate to Gravity Falls so much I would have Mabel's fantasy world and my brother, of course, would be Dipper he's focused on those types of mysteries we even called are self Mystery Twins before we watched the show. We love Gravity Falls so much!

Weirdmagen was the best way to end the series this episode and the last one got tears to fall. For this episode it reminded me of the relationship I have with my twin brother.
