Fantastic Modern Tiny Tree House Built to Perfection - OFF GRID CABIN TOUR

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Treehouse tour + Go to our sponsor betterhelp.com/exploringalter... for 10% off your first month of therapy with BetterHelp and get matched with a therapist who will listen and help.
In this video, we’re touring The Baltic, an incredibly beautiful, handcrafted, 2-storey off grid treehouse cabin in Ontario, Canada. Cam, the builder, put a lot of love into this project and he even went to a sustainable treehouse building school to learn how to build in a way that would protect the trees and allow them to stay alive and healthy while supporting a structure.
So he shares some of what he’s learned and how it all works, and he also gives us a full tour of the inside of the tiny 370 square feet tree house cabin where the attention to detail and craftsmanship are quite impressive!

Love it. I'm a carpenter near London, ON myself, and I've always wanted to get into building treehouses. It feels like a way I could go back to my childhood building forts and whatnot and just have fun, but also make a living. So it's nice to see someone like me actually doing it.

That is a beautiful treehouse! I especially enjoyed all of the information he shared about ensuring that the trees were healthy to begin with, and that they could stay that way with certain careful building practices. How wonderful that he went the extra mile on learning all of that!

I noticed the Ceiling above the Bench area in the Foyer, it looked like it had some water damage or crimped areas...is that due to those HRV air vents blowing air maybe moisture in that area?

Soil compaction around the roots is a bad thing. The U.S. Parks Dept will no longer identify the tallest Redwood/Sequoia tree in the parks because of it. Years ago when they did point out the tallest tree there were so many people that visited the tree they compacted the soil around the roots and it wound up killing the top of the tree.

Looks cozy. A bit too much of the same color and wood (considering the kitchen counters and the floor). There should be more contrast (like how the bathroom has some of that with the floor and shower). but I like the living room area a lot with the light in there and such. The structure in itself is gorgeous. I love the ladder too.

Well the bill's gotta get paid somehow. You can't live fulltime in a treehouse in the middle of a forest and survive without any source of income. Me and my wife built a house in an exotic location too. We not only gave up everything to live here full time but also dumped our life savings into it. We wish we could just stare at the incredibly beautiful surroundings all day but that won't pay the bills. So we too are running an AirBnB to support ourselves. This is how real life works. It's not all bed of roses.

Neat house but I can't but wonder if using trees for support is only so you can call it a tree house. Seems like that house could have been built completely without boring holes in any tree. I would have rather seen the trees where they are without any attachements to them and the house just built normally up on steel poles or 6x6 posts. As mentioned in the video, some feel a tree house should only be attached up in a tree without other ground supports. Can't really see how boring holes in trees makes this house a tree house when it could easily have those trees in the very same places poking through the decks and completely foregoing the tree boring attachements since there are 4x4 posts elsewhere holding up the house. It certainly would have been better for the spirits of those trees not to have been so grieveously wounded just so you can build a a quasi tree house. Use the trees ornamentally without piercing the trees. No matter what you tell yourself, those tree attachments are not good for those trees.

I feel like if you build a tree house like this, it should be of some living benefit to the trees that you're co-habbing with

Not buying that this doesn't hurt the tree. I think it would be best to just leave the tree alone and build an independent supporting structure. What happens in 50 years when the tree is WAY bigger? What happens with the hole in the tree. Certainly can't be good for it.

The hardware structure in the tree reminds me of an ear piercing.

He cares alot about protecting FOUR trees, but the wood for building the house probably chopped down a few trees as well. The sentiment is nice, though and the result is amazingly beautiful
