Fantastic Electronics Digital Microscope - Andonstar AD208
I regret not getting one of these sooner! If you are really seriously into SMT prototyping or rework definitely something to consider getting. Especially if you like to log your work, make videos or share your efforts with your customers.
Compared to the cheap handheld things they are like night and day. I discovered that I did not need any tools to adjust the angle, I just needed to put a little force into it initially. After that it moves quite freely, though is still reassuringly stiff!
Amazon has these on sale right now:

Great review, have been thinking of getting one of these to take close up video. With the magnifying lenses, I use an Optivisor - they are excellent. Really comfortable, can be worn with spectacles, excellent glass optics and you can comfortably wear it around the workshop all day. A lot of professional jewellers use them. Just make sure you buy a genuine one and not a cheap knock off.

I bought a cheaper one of these some years ago and discovered that it ALSO worked as a web cam, outputting 1080p to my 32" monitor for some crystal clear views! It was a completely undocumented feature, so give it a try with yours as well!

I had a mantis scope and that was fantastic, but was very expensive.

First time I've seen that version up close in working order, its normally the 407 that seems to be the popular one, that one seems good for on a budget or bad eye sight people(s) BTW I love the smell off Dr A Quote: "And I wash with Vosene" Never found anything like it in decades, very unique smell. before I forget checkout the 249S version, model. 👍🖖

Apart from the HDMI output, and remote I am not sure what advantage the 407 has for the additional £100

Nah! the quality of it sucks! I.M.H.O yeah its bigger screen, the 407 has better image quality too! but.. I'm so used to my old trinocular microscope, I'm not sure I could enjoy and work well watching a screen lol

I have a similar visor to you but it's a bit better. It's not great though. Nothing is unless it's electronic

I was looking at the many versions being sold. First a stereo microscope lets you see 3D! The very displays on cheap models tend to be of poor quality. I was thinking of a quality 32" ultra-fine monitor with a commercial true 4k output camera. Not cheap and still not 3D but with a good light source this should be useful for many future projects. Soon famous utuber Louis Rossmann is going to dump all his work stations as he is sick of being used as a cheapskate.

I like the idea of a large monitor, but for me, I would want it as an additional secondary one for when I really want to study something, for day to day soldering I would still need the smaller local screen otherwise I go nuts having to move my head to look. I find it's the same with the oscilloscope, if I can keep them all in a location where I only have to move my eyes and not my head it's the sweet spot 😂

Alas my computer screen is 3 metres away from the bench. I do wish I had the version with HDMI out, would be good to pop it on a big television

Did he just say “but I digest let’s continue”? Because it sure as hell didn’t sound like “but I digress let’s continue.” You probably shouldn’t use words if you don’t know how to use them properly, but I digest
