Not at all. When I was growing up, I thoroughly enjoyed the original Harry Potter as a "coming-of-age" story, because at the time it was more relatable. Now, I'm in my mid-20s, and I just find Newt and his companions to be more relatable characters. It's less of a coming-of-age story now, as they're adults and more or less confident with their skills as wizards/witches, and know what their roles are in this wizarding world. It just seems like the FB franchise hits the ground running, already intertwined with more mature thematic elements from the get-go, which I find more interesting than the older HP movies. Also, Newt's kind of awkward and doesn't fit the typical archetype of a main, heroic, protagonist, lol. I feel like that, too, is really relatable and quite frankly is refreshing to see.

J. Thang What I love is that we grew up with Harry Potter and now we are around the same age as Newt was in 1927. We can relate to him and it’s so perfect :) And I’m sure JK Rowling intended exactly that and I can’t be mad 😄

i think claudia being afraid of snakes actually fits to her character as i think nagini might be afraid of herself changing to a snake too

Why is he obsessed with that kind of stuff? I hate stationary cuz you have to constantly replace pens and use different kinds of rulers

I’m not going to lie, but this film deserves better ratings. Some of the reviews/reviewers on rotten tomato utterly sound as if they had never ever read/watched of the Harry Potter series. One review read, “this film is basically made for sequels,” and gave it a bad rating. Well.... duh why would it be done with 2/2 movies? Me and other Harry Potter fan ratings: 110% A++ Edit: Yes, I agree that this movie vs the Harry Potter movies SHOULD BE different because they're both at different story time frames and different plots, and the point of inserting some Harry Potter connections is to give fans nostalgia effects. Is this movie as great as HP? No, but we should be glad we are touching more on the wizarding world and touching bases on things that were mentioned only once or twice in the HP series (i.e Nicholas Flamel, obscurus, Newt, Grindelwald, and how Dumbledore came to be) Edit 2: If you really take the time to step back and reflect on the meaning of the movie, you really understand that there are MANY plot twists, and obviously there can't be many plot twists and answers to ALL of the plot twists in ONE movie alone. I believe this is just a small seed for what is yet to come in stored for us in the next 3 movies. JKR is a master of plot twists, and the author of the entire wizarding World Series. She has great talent to know what is good for THIS series, the prequel to Harry Potter (excluding the Cursed Child... I don't know what happened there, but I feel JKR wasn't really in control of that book/play). Lastly, fans should be glad there are mixtures of HP and FB in the series. I honestly would be bored just to see Newt handling creatures for the entire movie without any small mentions to the original series, the series that made my childhood great.

I loved it too not a perfect movie but I absolutely enjoyed it. I think people should try to realize that this is not a Harry Potter film but an expansion of the Wizarding World. I saw many people be like : "Hmm I don't like this it's not like Harry Potter.." well that's maybe 'cuz it's not supposed to be

Agreed. It’s definitely not as amazing as the first movie, but because this is a JKR masterpiece, I’d save all my judgments and criticisms once I’ve seen all 5 movies because as with Jo’s writings, everything makes sense in the end. I trust her.
