I’ve seen both the movies yet I still come back to this trailer because the theme song and the whole wizzarding world is just so iconic and cool I love it.

This trailer was so well made which had me so excited to get back into the wizarding world after missing it so much after the end of the original series. The music in the trailer was so epic and amazing

For those interested, Dumbledore was born in 1881. That dude was _old!_ He was 115 or 116 by the end of the series. He was 99 years older than Harry. Fantastic Beasts takes place in 1926, (Lord Voldemort was born this year, on the 31st of December,) so I suppose Dumbledore is 44 or 45 if he's in this film.

Just got back from seeing the movie, and I've already developed a theory. So, the movie is based in early 1926, the same year Tom Riddle was born. Now, the entire series' timeline is going to stretch 19 years (1926-1945), just about as old as Tom Riddle was when he came to power. So, if my mind is being coherent, that means the last one or two movies could span throughout Tom's years at Hogwarts and showcase his rise to power. If that doesn't make you excited and craving more, then you need to sort out your priorities. PEOPLE, WE COULD POTENTIALLY BE GETTING A MOVIE ABOUT TOM RIDDLE'S EARLY YEARS. HOW 'FANTASTIC' IS THAT??

I think it was pretty much pre-stablished since it was said in the announcement the year this movie is on. Besides, I believe the idea is that its not a prequel, but a spin off. Since there is no involvement of Newt Scamander in any of the Wizarding Wars.

well, unlike the Hobbit, Fantastic beasts wont be an adaptation because the book isn't a narrative, you can say J.K. is writting a movie alone.

This movie was the highlight of my month.

Who else got goosebumps when the original harry potter theme started playing

i don't understand why people are bashing the movie bcus it is set in america and it isn't exactly harry potter. its another j.k. rowling movie. be excited about it. it has a fantastic cast and i'm sure the ost will be amazing. the fact that we can see magic in a different location and time is so interesting. just be happy that the j.k. rowling isn't done with this world and we're probably going to see more movies.

It IS mildly upsetting that it's set in America, because Britishness is just such a huge part of the atmosphere everyone's gotten used to and gotten comfortable with. I'm sure I'll enjoy it though.

***** That's interesting. I know the literary element always had a heavy british feel to it which kinda bled into the films. I think perhaps part of the discomfort people are also having with this movie is the fact that they don't really have a source novel to go by which makes it feel inauthentic.

***** Yes, I know the fictional author and book exists in the HP universe (I even have a copy of the book itself), but unlike with the Harry Potter series, there isn't that novelistic anchor that the readers have been used to when getting the cinematic experience, so it feels a little weird and disjointed as a result. I'm sure J.K. Rowling has plenty of influence over the writing of this film, but it will be the first time one is made without an already existing novel written by the author from which it is framed. The move isn't exactly based on the tiny, 100 page book she wrote that one time.

That little plant is without a doubt the Most ADORABLE Creature in all of the Harry Potter Wizarding World, it's too cute.

Anyone who's asking: The story takes place 70 years before Harry Potter. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a standard textbook in the Harry Potter book and movie series. This movie is a prequel to the Harry Potter, which follows the author of the book (Newt Scamander) and his adventures of writing the book. So Scamander was the author of the book which Harry and his friends were learning from. The fictional textbook was actually published in 2001 (written by Rowling).

Saw this movie yesterday in theaters, dear lord it was amazing!
