The issue with Drake is that he has over saturated the market with a quantity over quality approach, so yes his pen is undeniable but there is a lot of fodder/filler throughout his entire discography. So it gives people who love him enough to love but it also gives people that don't like him plenty to hate.

I prefer Drakes method of dropping. People are gonna hate regardless whether you drop frequently or space it out. Drake dropped CLB after 2 and a half years after scorpion and people hate it lol. Kendrick dropped his album after 5 years and I found half the songs subpar. Travis dropped utopia after 5 years and a decent bit of people hate it. So while Drake does have more filler I get to enjoy hearing his music more often and he always is gonna have 6-7 songs that’ll be in rotation for a while.

I actually agree with what you’re saying about the Kendrick thing. People would lose it, especially Fantano. But as a Drake hater, I just think he’s extremely bland and rather annoying to listen to. It’s very difficult for me to make it through a Drake album. I don’t really think he’s done anything groundbreaking or amazing. His best quality is his ability to put on smaller artists that have real strong talents due to his status. There’s definitely a few of his songs here and there that I’ve found myself enjoying, but honestly his catalog is rough and I can’t stand most of it. Really only check out features at this point 😂😂

Probably because drake is mediocre even at his best. The first two songs on this EP he did not switch his flow throughout the entire song, and there was no chorus. And his flows aren’t even unique, he never hits a cool pocket, it’s always the type of flow and pocket you would expect on that beat. And on the first song at a point it sounded like he was just rhyming to rhyme, like sure it’s impressive he was able to keep a 2 syllable rhyme scheme for that long but without a flow switch or fire chorus it was so bland and the lyrics weren’t even anything unique. Idk man, I’ve never heard a drake song and been like “damn this shit fire” like it’s always just “eh that was decent”

@@takejaylor3528 I mean it’s a fact a this point Drake uses writers he confirmed that on Duppy freestyle….I made the joke because Cole got him actually rapping. Plus there are things that he says that you would hear on any J. Cole verse. Does that mean he wrote for Drake , obviously not, Drake is notorious for biting flows anyway. Also, I don’t think he uses ghost writers, because he credits anyone they writes for him. He also writers for others.

@@takejaylor3528 I said that he writes in my response. But anyone that’s a serious listener knows Drake has used writers and has been a writer. I don’t think anyone seriously the believes that Drake had never written anything. Kanye used to do his own writing that beat making before he blew up too, when he started to become more pop orientated he changed that. Drake and 40 have been saying since Drake came out that they treat their music production like pop music. He’s always used writers. His pen is compromised, because a core tenant of hip hop is artistic integrity and writing your own bars. That’s what separates the artists. Some artists have never used writers.
