There's actually a little bit of symbolism in the scene with Chrissy's dad that people may have overlooked. Chrissy is suffering with bulimia because of her mother's constant criticism about her weight. The fact that her father's eyes were gone and his mouth is essentially sewn shut is meant to represent the fact that her father never spoke up to protect her and basically turned a "blind eye" to the emotional abuse his wife was inflicting on their daughter. You could also see the dynamic of their relationship at Chrissy's memorial when her mother took over the podium to say her piece while her husband stands silently to the side. Her mother was a bully and her father was a coward. That's her trauma right there. Also, Jason saying "your first hangover makes you feel like you're "split in two". A bit of foreshadowing don't you think considering how Jason ended up?

Facts. The only reason they killed off Eddie is so they didn't have to kill off any of the mains this season. Or... maybe they're trying to trick the fans into thinking they only kill off side characters and kill off a few mains in the final season.

In the scene with Max in the bathroom and throughout this entire episode, there are eyes everywhere- for example, someone drew some in pencil to the left of the mirror as Max takes the pills and there are eyes on the shaking door when Chrissy is having her moment. Furthermore, there are tiger eyes on various posters in the school hallways. All of this is meant to symbolize Vecna keeping an eye on his victims... watching them... witnessing their trauma...

My guess is, she thought the best thing to help El heal from losing her abilities and having to leave Mike behind would be the chance to meet other kids her own age, get socialized and make friends. Joyce may have forgotten or underestimated how cruel high schoolers could be to outsiders, or simply thought it was a chance worth taking anyway.

I love how people who weren't even born in the 80's seem to know everything about it. I hest, "Especially in the 80's" a lot. I was a teenager in the 80's and it may shock all of you younger people to know that we weren't racists and we weren't homophobes, our parents did care about us and kept track of us, we went to school and we were educated and we had homework, without google or pocket calculators I might add.

How could you have possibly known the beliefs and attitudes of hundreds of thousands of people? Racism and homophobia were then and STILL are, a societal problem. And they're problems that we will be dealing with for a long time to come. So just because you personally, as well as your peer group, didn't have any issues with race or sexual identity, doesn't mean plenty of others didn't.

And I don't doubt that you are being honest about what your experience was like. But it's absurd to try to suggest that every single person who lived their lives in the 80's lived lives just like yours. You more than likely wouldn't have had to experience racism or homophobia first hand so it would be easy to believe that racism and homophobia didn't exist or wasn't that prevalent. But people of colour and those with a different sexuality than heterosexual certainly did. Are you really so arrogant that you feel you have the right to speak for them? Your main complaint is that the people commenting about the 80's shouldn't be taken seriously because they didn't actually live through it as you did. But how do you know that? How can you make a determination like that without knowing anything about the people making the comments? How do you know they didn't ALSO grow up in the 80's? Your entire argument is based on conjecture. But, as someone who did live through the 80's, let me refresh your memory. I was born in 1959 so I spent my formative years in the 70's. But I joined the (Australian) Army in 1979 when I was 19. So I literally lived my entire 20's during the 80's. And let me tell you, if you want to gauge how people think and the values they hold, there's no better place to do that than in the military. You will see all of humanity's grace as well as its ugliness. And believe me when I say I saw a lot of ugliness, especially in regards to racism and homophobia. And in case you forgot, the AIDS epidemic began in the 80's. The first documented case of AIDS was in Seattle in 1982 to be precise. Initially the virus only seemed to affect homosexual men. This led to homophobia on a national level. Hate crimes against gay men skyrocketed. The Ronald Reagan administration just ignored this. In fact, his administration's lack of support resulted in almost nonexistent AIDS relief at the federal level. Pat Buchanan, Reagan's Communications Director, described AIDS as "nature's revenge on gay men". It wasn't until it was clear that this virus was not only infecting homosexual men but women, children and the elderly as well, that the Reagan administration finally did something about funding for AIDS research. Also, a US District Court Judge for the Southern district of New York ruled in the 1990's that New York's "stop and frisk" policy violates the Fourteenth Amendment's promise of "equal protection" as black and Hispanic people were subject to stops and searches, at a much higher rate than whites. That occurred in the 80's. And things have only gotten worse since then. So, do you still want to insist that there was no abundance of homophobia or racism in the 80's? Is that the hill you're prepared to die on?
