Every wonder where are they now?
Today, I take another nostalic and historic memory lane road trip. In this episode, I visit the famous gravesites of some of the cast members of the classic western-themed 1960s and 1970s TV show THE VIRGINIAN.
GRAVESITES VISITED:
Lee J Cobb, Cedars Sinai Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills, CA
Doug McClure and Charles Bickford, Woodlawn Cemetery, Santa Monica, CA
Chubby Johnson, Woodlawn Cemetery, Las Vegas, NV
I also visit James Drury's memorial plaque on the Western Walk of Stars in Olt Town Newhall, California. And I remember cast members: Clu Gulager, Roberta Shore, Randy Boone, John McIntire, Jeanette Nolan, Diane Roter, Sara Lane, Don Quine, Ross Elliott and Gary Clarke.
Thanks for joining me on my travels on yet another trip to the past, down memory lane.

My mother used to watch Virginia back in the 60's when I was a child. She used to watch Big Valley, Bonanza and many western TV shows. Memories!
I remember watching this show with my Daddy. It was our favorite! We watched all the western shows and enjoyed them. James Drury and Doug McClure are missed so much.
I'm watching the Virginian for the second go around. I absolutely love this show. My favorite actors were James Drury, Doug McClure, Gary Clarke, and Randy Boone. They played their characters with so much heart.
I love the old cowboy stars. In the first season of Walker Texas Ranger, James Drury played Walker's captain. He was older but it was fun to see him again. I always felt that Roberta Shore was a cutie.

I still watch the Virginia every day in the morning and the evening. And thank you for still thinking the good old cowboys
Doug McClure was in the movie just before Star Wars came out, he costarred with Peter Cushing in the Sci-fi movies journey to the Center of the Earth.

At the Earth's Core. The movie that came out about the same time as Star Wars was Warlords of Atlantis, they made that instead of Doug playing John Carter in a movie.
I grew up in fabulous sixties and with the tv series like The Virginian which aired for 9 years, now I am older than all the characters in the show , God bless all of them I can’t believe they’ve gone .
Good morning, Steve. The Virginian is my favorite of the old westerns. Medicine Bow is not far from me & we have a great hotel/restaraunt named after the Virginian!✌️

R.I.P y'all God bless you all.
Lee J Cobb was a prolific actor in movies. Among them was "On the Waterfront", where he played a mob connected union boss. That was filmed on location in Hoboken NJ, then a rough and tumble waterfront town. Today, Hoboken is gentrified for young millionaires. I preferred the old days, when every other store front was a gin mill for longshoremen and shipyard workers. Hoboken's favorite son is Frank Sinatra.
Used to watch The Virginian and other westerns growing up. Doug McClure and James Drury were two of my favorites. Thank you for sharing. Hope your mom is doing well. God bless
Thank you my friend
I read through the list of who were guest stars, No Chubby Johnson listed. Almost anyone on tv at the time guest starred in this show! Also these actors! Jay Sebring Harrison Ford, Bette Davis, George C. Scott, Robert Redford, Joan Crawford! The list is endless ! I remember this show from when i was a kid! Especially Trampas ! Thanks Steve!

I loved that episode of 'The Virginian' where Doug McClure appears with his own little daughter who played an orphan in a group of orphans. The tenderness between them was obvious and beautiful to watch. I think it was first shown around 1963. Who can forget the beautiful Dolores Hart's final appearance as an actress in 'The Virginian' where our hero was quite smitten by her. She has been a nun since 1963.

Great video as always Steve love watching your channel. I was just watching The Virgian yesterday on The western channel I get.
Steve, my great friend! Great tribute to the gang on "THE VIRGINIAN" cast and showing some the actors final resting places! Kirby (very close friend) and myself had meet Mr. Drury a long back at the event in Kanab, Utah; Kirby was nervous about meeting Mr. Drury and when we walked up to his table at the western event in Kanab and Jim called me by name, Kirby claimed down and then told me, "you knothead, you could've told me that you already knew Mr. Drury"; but I had meet Mr. Drury before that event through my long time close friend, Ben "Son" Johnson back in the 1980's during rodeo events; Son and Jim were great close friends. I've talked with Jim on the phone numerous times over the phone, as well as my friend Kirby had talked with Jim on the phone too! I remember April 6th, like it was yesterday, I received the phone call from Timothy that day and he told me about his dad passing. I had told Tim that I would call Kirby and Tim asked me not to call him, he wanted to let Kirby know himself, then about an hour later, Kirby called me, crying on the phone and asked if I heard from Tim and knew about Jim's passing that morning. Kirby and I had a long crying phone call together that late afternoon. It's been a few months since I have talked with Timothy on the phone too, he's busy a lot of time. I know Jim's latest wife, Carl Ann (Head) Drury had passed away back in August of 2019 and Jim missed her very much. At least, Jim and Carl Ann are together again and walking and riding along those golden western trails in the sky! I know Jim's personal assistant, Karen Lindsey; but I didn't care for Karen very much and Jim knew that too. During several events, Karen got on her high horse (nose up in the air) and we (Karen & I) even had words over her attitude, but I knew she was there doing a job. The following day after Jim's death, Karen called to let me know about Jim and I told her, "thank you for calling, but Tim already called me and at least Kirby and I know that Jim has his #1 assistant in his arms now and Karen hung up the phone." Steve, thank you again for such a great tribute to the gang on THE VIRGINIAN it was awesome to see! Keep up the great work that you do! Hope all is well with your mother too! Chat with you later, my friend!

Hi Steve: Thank you for mentioning me on your video concerning my interest in the Virginian tv series. There is a Facebook group called the Virginian Posse which has over 5700 members. There are postings of anything related to the Virginian series, and is a fairly active group. Sadly we lost Mr. Drury this past April. He and a fair number of the actors from the tv series appeared at many western fan events over the years. I got to meet most of them by attending about 5 of these events. Meeting them all was a real treat. They were all warm, welcoming and thrilled to meet their fans of all ages, and tickled pink that many young people had become interested in this great show. Mr. Drury would drive great distances from Houston Texas to locations of these events in L.A., Utah, Memphis, Oklahoma, and Swanton Ohio. He had a particular interest in raising money for the veterans. He is sadly missed by his fans, fellow actors, friends and family. I will let the Posse know of your fine video. Thank you for the great job you did on this video. Judy Sparks (You Tube Justine16364)

Memory Lane Trips With Steve It is a good group, that has provided some lasting friendship with those members who I have met at the western fan events! Meeting Mr. Drury and the remaining cast members of The Virginian series will always remain a great memory! Mr. Drury was a fine man who stood up when something was wrong, supported the vets, and loved his fans. We all dearly miss him! I never thought in my wildest that I would get to meet these fine people! Thank you again for the fine video you did on The Virginian series! Hope you and your mom are doing well and staying safe! I have thoroughly enjoyed your videos!

I don't think I ever watched a single episode of the Virginians. But Lee J Cobb was one of my favorite actors. Cobb played a powerful role in the movie "12 Angry Men". He was the last juror to be convinced that the accused was innocent. The scene in that movie between Cobb and Henry Fonda was electrifying. I must have watched that movie a dozen times and never tire of it. "12 Angry Men" is a must watch movie. As usual another good video, thanks.
