I did not know George Michael's sister had died. Whenever I see Highgate Cemetery, although it is occupied with so many famous people, George Michael always comes to mind first. It's sadly ironic that George died on Christmas Day. Last Christmas is one of my favourite Wham songs (nobody will ever sing it as he did). In fact, I was listening to that about an hour before I heard of his death. Such a shock. It's shame his sister, Melanie died 3 years to the day he did. They were very close. If you haven't read Andrew Ridgeley's memoir (Wham! George Michael and me)yet, I highly recommend it.

Speaking of Dickens, if you go to Shrewsbury you can find the grave of Ebenezer Scrooge. When they shot the 1984 version of Christmas Carol there the producers found the blank stone in the church yard and got permission to inscribe it and then left it when they were done.
